Making a Pokedex out of Pokemon Cards

Last part of Gen 4! Did you know Bonsly has only ever had two printed arts, and one of those two has only come out in the last couple years? So the one I have was the only Bonsly art for almost two decades of Pokemon.

Gen 4 begins! Diamond and Pearl were the first main Pokemon games I’d ever played (tho my very first was Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness), so Sinnoh’s Pokemon hold a special place in my heart.

And the second half of Gen 3 today! Things are still coming together well. The Latios came from the first-ever deck/pack I picked out as a kid (aka not part of loose cards my friends pity-gave me lol)

Here’s the first half of Gen 3! The Plusle and Minun were some of the first cards I ever collected, and I knew I had to include them in this project with how they match so perfectly.

The second half of Gen 2! Not too many missing overall. (I’ve reached beyond Gen 4, and the amount of blank spots in Gen 5… Oof.)

The beginning of Gen 2! A few more cards are missing from this one, but that’ll just mean more fun in filling the blanks. I love some of the cards in this grouping because they were some of the first I collected, like the Bellossom. I got a few others too, that overall endeared me to the water type. The Espeon was another I collected early on, from one of the championship winners decks they released in 2006!

Gen 1 is all in! Only card missing from this was Nidoking, but I expect to have a few missing from each of Gens 2-4, and then a severe drop of cards once Gen 5 hits since that’s when I stopped collecting for a while.

I’m excited though- this is coming along really well, and once I’m done with all my cards being put in I’ll be able to visit my local game shop to start filling in the gaps, and maybe upgrade some cards to a holo or full art or something!

All sorted and alphabetized! Time to start the dex…

It begins! I’ve alphabetically sorted all my cards in two different chunks- cards I got recently and cards from my old collection. Now it’s time to see if I have any duplicates between the two sets to pass on to my spouse and my friend!
