These are cards. Playing cards, specifically. My names Cardplayer, you can call me Card :-).

Nice to met you, Card! My name’s Awake. So, what all do you do with those cards? Card games, cardistry, magic tricks? I knew a couple folks long, looooooooong ago who did cardistry, it’s really very interesting to watch. I often asked them to show me tricks but they never got the chance, and now they never will, haha!

I, uh, i dabble in alot of things, actually! Card games, tricks, the occasional dabble in cardistry.. I just really like cards! Its my namesake, after all. I learned alot of what i know from a friend of mine. Their more into poetry than cards, though.

Hmm... what's an easy trick for a beginner?

Theres a few easy ones. I don't exactly know the names, though, so I'll just teach you the one i remember best.

Card takes another deck from their pocket. What the hell.

Pick a deck.

-They thought for a moment, then picked the one Card had just pulled out.-

That one.

Alright! Go through and pull out all the joker cards from your deck.

-They shuffle through and pull out the jokers, looking back up expectantly when they finish.-

They nodded approvingly, quickly pulling the jokers out of their own deck.

This trick requires two people, which is why im teaching it to you first.

First, you shuffle the deck a few times. Theres no specific amount, but i usually go with five.

They split the deck in half, beginning to shuffling them a few times.

On your last shuffle, memorize the card on the bottom of your deck.

-They nodded and crudely shuffled the cards five times. It took longer than it should’ve. They looked at the bottom card.-

A giggle. Their laughing at them. How rude.

Alright, now we switch decks. Then you'd tell the other 'player' -- me, in this case, -- to cut the deck in half.
