Langblr Introduction (I guess?)

Hi there I'm Plant! And while there is the word Studyblr in my username it's going to be more of a Langblr for the time being.

A little bit about me:

I'm from Trinidad 🇹🇹

I'm 18

I'm taking a gap year before applying to uni

I'm gender fluid and use all pronouns

I'm neurodivergent and have adhd

About my Languages:

I'm currently trying to learn German and Spanish

I'm about a A1 in German

I'm a complete beginner in Spanish (A0?)

I'm probably going to be focusing more on learning Spanish than German at the moment as my workplace is almost entirely Spanish speaking

Due to the fact that I'm currently working full time I only have a little bit of free to work on learning stuff so expect infrequent posts

i'm sorry but i can't agree that it's the government's fault. cxc is in charge of the exams and they have offered the option to defer and the government hasn't prevented students from deferring. i am concerned tho that unlike last year some exam student(s) will end up contracting the virus and causing their school to be closed and kids quarantined bc with the variant so many people are asymptomatic or only develop symptoms days after they become infected so they can't be blamed for continuing abt their lives as normal if they don't have any symptoms and aren't aware they were in contact with anyone who had it. it's such a tricky situation but i'm not sure our government pulling out from this year's exam is the solution bc well us students need to move on, personally i can't imagine being stuck in the school system another year! my stress levels and mental health cannot i understand and agree with the delays but the longer it takes the more difficult it gets for me. idk dude i don't think there's any one solution to this very big and complex problem. i mean cxc seems to be a bit more understanding compared to last year but the solution at the end of the day will need to come from them, not the individual governments. hopefully tho the lockdown will start having some positive effects soon or more specifically people will actually start obeying the laws and stop sneaking into stores that are open on a call basis and all the other nonsense ppl continue to do sigh. sorry this is so long

my exam prep has been idk somewhat good but definitely not what i'm accustomed to, honestly i'm so done with school i just want to be over with it idec how i do i'm so tired on every level possible sigh

Oh god anon I’m so sorry this has been sitting in my inbox so long! CAPE absolutely wrecked my mental health.

As for the question: My grandmother is actually German and I’ve gone there to visit her family a few times when I was young! 

So I have really great memories associated with the language and family to practice with!

(Additionally university tuition in Germany is pretty low so it’s also a good lang to learn if I wanna go study abroad!)

I kept saying that I’d have so much free time to relax during July since my exams would be over

But now I think I might have over-committed for July in fun events and hang outs 😅

I’m going to an event every weekend

I’m attending a couple virtual and in person university open days

I have three cosplays and my prom dress to make

I’m participating in nanowrimo and a fic exchange

I’m volunteering at a few pride events 

And I still haven't even organized half of the hang outs I wanted to do with my friends! 😅

So I went to a virtual open day for my local university’s film program which was pretty awesome! 

They showed a couple clips and short films from past students which were all really good! (and also mentioned lgbt+ films and filmakers!)

It really solidified film as one of my top picks to apply to next year!

I once wrote abt lgbtq+ in my finals and I got full marks on the essay bc the grammar and shit was technically correct so they couldnt do a thing~

Oh that’s for asking! I actually did end up doing this and went great!

I got almost full marks and my teacher actually found the idea really interesting and original

I was pretty worried seeing as homosexuality has only been legal in my country for a few years now but it wasn’t an issue luckily!

Every teacher who heard about my topic said it was a very interesting choice (though the tone they say that in can differ a lot 😅)
