People often say tuna, or salmon are good fish to offer someone who’s never had sushi before. And that’s fair, they’re red like rare meat and offer a similar fatty richness that can appeal to those who foolishly fear raw fish. Tuna can pair nicely with all the stupid shit they put in ‘California rolls’ sure. But I’ve always stood by mackerel being the best due to its incredibly subtle but rewarding taste story. If you haven’t tried it go get it and experience the elegance and feminine beauty of tale in which it will weave your tastebuds. The mackerel has much to say! It’s best on its own as sashimi and dare I say, raw and unfettered by its own oils, it almost doesn’t even taste like fish in the same way other fish do, and save the cold and slightly damp texture you almost wouldn’t know what you’re eating by flavor alone, if you’ve never had it. But ofc ppl who don’t like raw meat get scared by that and won’t try it 😔 and that’s fine. Whatever! Keep your head in the sand. Go die in a cave! I feel VERY strongly about this I have so much to say about mackerel. I caught one with my hands in the ocean once it jumped up and hit my tits and I caught it and looked at it long and hard then let it go. It is my favorite fucking fish (to eat). I hope this post has whet your whistle. Go on, go out, and try the noble mackerel, raw! Or dried. Save grilled for last bc it really is greasy as hell. But that’s how you know it’s full of omega 3! And low in mercury.

now more than ever please keep your cats inside (as well as dump out bird baths and take down bird feeders, also don’t touch wild birds); avian influenza (H5N1) has spread to multiple outdoor cats and a dog and is able to spread to humans. if you get H5N1, it has a 50% mortality rate and there is no current treatment. it is not very easily transmissible and you are extremely unlikely to get it if you take precautions, but it is still important to take those precautions. btw this isn’t meant to fearmonger, i just have not seen anything relating to this on here, and i have been keeping tabs on H5N1 because a relative who works on a poultry farm. it is not something you want to get👍
