The SickKids Foundation is a national nonprofit organization that is dedicated to advancing children’s health treatments based in Toronto, Ontario, though the nonprofit works on a global scale. The foundation originated in 1875 as a single hospital for sick children with only 16 beds, and today it is the largest source of charitable funds for children’s health research. Though SickKids Foundation has a multitude of fundraising events, and a “create-your-own” event page, one of its premier events is the annual Great Camp Adventure Walk. This event is a 5K, 10K, 15K, or 20K walk/run through downtown Toronto that is filled with varied activities to stop and participate in along the way. Participants pay a small registration fee and agree to a fundraising minimum of $400 (less for participating children), and collect badges as they go through the multiple obstacle courses. All money raised benefits children’s health research.
