Photo Diary: A Weekend Getaway
To make up for lost time, I’ve decided to work on my blog again, and what better than writing about the most wonderful thing that has happened to me in a long time as the first step in reviving this blog.
Two weeks ago, during Independence Day, the last day before classes officially starts, William and I decided to go on an out of town trip. Ever since I got back in Cebu, we’ve been seeing/hanging out again for a couple of times. The trip was originally planned between me and the girls but majority of them cancelled at the last minute for some reason and William was more than willing to accompany me for his last hurrah before school.
I first discovered Hidden Beach Resort in Lou Castaneda’s blog. I wanted to try what she wrote there in her blog about reaching Aloguinsan with just a P200.00 budget (spoiler alert: it was very impossible for just 200php).
It was a very last minute decision actually. William even wanted to head to Aloguinsan the night of Saturday, June 11, 2016 so we can use the tent we bought during our Osmena Peak adventure and more time to enjoy the beach since I told him I wanted to catch the sunrise. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to ask permission yet so we decided to just head to Aloguinsan at early as 4 AM that day.
Unfortunately we weren’t able to catch the sunrise because we met at the Southbus Terminal almost around 6 AM and the bus took too long, what was written as a 2-hour drive from the city became 3 freaking hours. We were hungry and butt a bit sore from sitting that long.
And as stated in all the blog reviews, you had to walk for about 15 minutes to get to the resort (of course because it’s hidden, duh) but since we were already tired and hungry and trying to catch up with time, we rode a habal-habal and paid 30php.
The entrance to the resort. Everything is natural in here. Aside from the man-made bamboo and nipa cottages on the beach, nothing else is there but pure sand, the natural sea and surrounding trees.
The favorite boy going down.
We paid 150php for the table but we used our own tent.
We were pretty much hungry since we haven’t had any breakfast. Luckily, you can request the caretakers to cook a complete meal for you for a fee. So we did. It wasn’t really the best meal but it was enough to fill our hungry stomachs.
We decided to go for a dip a few minutes after the meal. We felt a bit out of place since it was just the two of us and most people who went there too either came as a whole family or friends in large groups.
The sun was way up and it kinda hurt so we decided to chill in our tent. William played his usual genre of music while browsing through stuff on Facebook, told and shared stuff from time to time and I on the other hand replied to some messages from the girls and closed my eyes and took the beach air all in.
Around 2 PM, groups kept arriving making the beach a bit crowded so we decided to rent one of the cottages so we can take a nap properly and comfortably since we haven’t had enough sleep from last night and given how we woke up early as well.
Around 4:30 PM or around 5, I woke William up because I wanted to catch the sun set. Good thing the beach was almost deserted at that time since most people had gone home. That was then when we finally got the chance to roam around the place.
How was it a darling weekend?
If you have been following me for quite some time, you’d read in my previous posts about my break-up with William and how I struggled my way to feeling better.
That break-up with him was something I thought was really over. Both William and I were thinking that was it even his friends thought that was the end of it all. When I got back in the city, and when we started hanging out, him calling and texting again, I was telling myself not to expect too much anymore because he has always been like that, coming back as if nothing happened and then leaving again. I was telling myself that if he’s there, then okay. But if he’s gonna leave again, then okay. I didn’t wanna get too attached anymore.
The night before this trip, I was even thinking that he was gonna cancel it because of that text message he sent, asking me if I really do want to do it with him or if I was just doing it for old time’s sake. I was thinking maybe that was what’s happening on his part, him doing it for old time’s sake. But alas, no. He told me how much he wanted to do it and how much he missed me and how we were like before. That melted my heart.
When we arrived at the resort, while taking a dip, we talked about anything we could possibly think when he suddenly told me how he’s gonna be good this time, that he wants to come back to me and how he doesn’t want me to go through the same pain again.
He told me lots of things that I thought I would only hear in my daydreams. He told me things that I only hoped I’d hear from him before. And then, just when the sun was about to set, our toes buried in the sand, the water in stand still as if anticipating with me what he was going to say next, he cupped my face and whispered in between kisses,
and that was more than enough to bring me to tears. My heart was filled with so much joy. My heart filled with so much love for this guy whom despite with all the sorrows still managed to make it all worth it. This guy who can still make everything grand and wonderful.
This guy, whom despite how hard everything can possibly get, I can’t seem to give up and let go. This guy whom I wouldn’t mind fighting for again and again and again.
Thank you for making me the happiest girl that one weekend, b.
I thank the heavens for such a darling weekend.
