Lula magazine describes itself as being "the kind of girl you'd have a crush on. Or be intimidated by. Her style is all old-fashioned cameras, 70's dresses, patterned stockings, heavy mascara. She'd live in an apartment where the wallpaper is peeling off, but it would be held together lovingly by a litter of poems and polaroids. Her CDs would be all over the floor, but she'd know the name of every one.

I found this magazine Lula, which i thought related very well with what my theme. The tile says it all “NOTHING IS REAL BUT THE GIRL”

What it means to be eloquent?

Puzzling out what it means to be eloquent means fitting together and pulling apart many pieces. The American Heritage Dictionary definition divides eloquence in two parts: "persuasive, powerful discourse" or a speech or look that's "vividly or movingly expressive." "Exceedingly dignified," "fluently persuasive and forceful," and "effectively conveying meaning, feeling or mood."

Both of these magazines title and the model’s being used is representing what I was aiming to show in my music magazine. Also, what my aim for when my audiences reads my article is for them to think that whoever wrote the article has the capability to explain themselves or that ‘the magazine speaks for itself. Which is what the word ‘ELOQUENT’ means

Gentlewoman magazine takes a look at the world of female fashion with a witty and intelligent approach. There will be in depth interviews with the women that are currently shaping our world today. The magazine will also provide fascinating new clothing lines and new designer information for readers who like to stay up to date with the latest fashion movements. The magazine is published by the same people behind Fantastic Man magazine. This magazine is packed full of great enjoyable content and beautifully laid out full page images.

This magazine really fits in with the theme that have chosen to go with (for my music magazine) as they are sort of promoting what I want, even though its a magazine that is focused more on fashion (especially with women’s wear) it suits and fits in with what my magazine is promoting.

Each issue of The Gentlewoman magazine is beautifully bound and made in a good quality paper. Readers will feel like they are holding a little piece of luxury. There will normally be around 8 women photographed and interviewed in each issue, although there can be more.

Readers will be treated to a really in-depth look at how these modern women function and their opinions on the latest important issues at the moment. All the women interviewed will be talented and hard working and great role models for young women everywhere. It is the ideal read for any woman needing some much needed female based inspiration in her life.

There have only been a few issues of this magazine at present, we are hoping that the makers of The Gentlewomen magazine will provide us with a lot more issues in the future; It really is a fun and unique publication. Readers will love the fascinating new approach that the magazine takes in the glossy female magazine market. It is unlike any other of its kind.

EQ5:HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/ADDRESS YOUR AUDIENCE

One very effective way that I used to attract my audience was by giving out free freebies. In a questionnaire I made with monkey survey it suggested the people where willing to buy a magazine as long as it had a free freebies.

In the magazine we also promote ‘our’ website where (we mention in the article) people can go and share their opinions and ask their favourite celebrities questions. This is a good way to attract my audience by giving announcement that the by doing game or doing quizzes or who can give the best response will win a prize, such as these:

This is quite stereotypical... using chokers, owner an apple mac, and owing unicorn phone case.

Once in a while either do competitions or just give out free tickets to a few people. This is something that happens a lot with social media, for instance the radio (Heart) do a lot of competitions so that people can get tickets to up coming events and this way more people may become more interested.

Also having events (like festivals) so that my audience will become more interested in my magazine.

The Gentlewoman is all about, read this: The Gentlewoman is a new biannual style magazine for a new decade. Featuring inspirational, international women, it pairs ambitious journalism with a sartorial and intelligent perspective on fashion that is focused on personal style – the way women actually look, think and dress.

Gentlewoman is an independent magazine that promotes women’s fashion and style. The aim of the magazine is to present more than the typical flashy, overbearing high-fashion we are used to, capturing how women “really look” with a sense of elegance.

It covers generally tend to focus on the specific woman being photographed in terms of how they dress, think, and portray themselves without the glitz and glam of celebrity life.

EQ2:HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT PARTICUAR SOCIAL GROUPS?

On my cover and double page spread, I wanted to feature an image that provides a representation of real indie pop artist in order for it to be successfully completed I choose to do the following:

For my front cover I only wanted to have ‘Roisin’ face visible. As you can clearly see that she is only wearing a simple navy blue jumper, the fact she isn’t wearing fancy clothes is already making a statement that she doesn't’t care. The reason why I decide to do this with my front cover is because I noticed that there was a correlation of Indie pop magazines doing the same for example ‘spex magazine.’

I also noticed that some of these magazines were also just focusing on the models facial expressions which is what I have done as well. The reason to why I ma so keen to represent women empowerment for women is because it is what my music magazine wants to promote.

My music magazine is linked to social life styles of (Indie Pop) listeners because I used the stereotypes ‘FEMINIST’ that listen to Indie pop music. I very inspired by the ‘Spex’ magazine because it was portraying exactly what I intended to do with my magazine. (e.g the way she has this direct eye contact but at the same time she has this feminine look showing to show her that to be a feminist you do not have act like a boy or man...)

What I wanted to show in my magazine (whichI thought in this magazine they did achieve) is that she looks directly at the camera showing her passion and fearlessness by not being shy in front of the camera, yet she also posses showing a feminine look to visualise to the audience that she is comfortable and knows where she stands.

Sadly society has created many stereotypes about many different things and being a feminist has many stereotypes. For instance ‘that feminist hate men, All feminist are women or that all feminist believe in the same things. ( WHICH IS DEFINITELY NOT TRUE!!!) Which is why is decided to use one of these stereotype by just using female models (this doesn't mean that my magazine is only aimed at girls, its aimed for both genders) so that it fits in the particular social groups and that this perhaps will help my target audience for this specific social groups to relate and it will perhaps catch their eye.

Indie pop is a subgenre of alternative rock that originated in the UK in the mid-1980s, with its roots in Scottish post-punk bands on the Post Records label in the early 1980s) and the dominant UK independent band of the mid-1980s,’the Smiths.’ Indie pop was inspired by punk's DIY ethics and related ideologies, and it generated a thriving fanzine, label, and club and gig circuit. Indie pop differs from indie rock to the extent that it is more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst-free.

Dazed (formerly Dazed & Confused) is a monthly British style magazine founded in 1991. Its founding editors were Jefferson Hack and fashion photographer Rankin. It covers music, fashion, film, art, and literature.

This is one of the magazines that inspired whilst i was making my own, I really like the way that the title stands out and also how there is not so mummy features around the magazine. Which makes it look simple but at the same time unique. (I also interpreted this not my own magazine.)

I also like the model’s facial expression, at the beginning of making my own magazine I initially wanted to make my model to do something similar to this. (But at the end I realised it would not have suited what I wanted to portray.)

This is another magazine from “DAZED &CONFUSED” and whatI really liked from this magazine was the way the model was position and her facial expression. I felt that she was portraying that she is fearless and that she is ‘comfortable and knows where she stands’
