“Aaa, thank you, Uncle Valant! Glad you liked the show, too~!” Once he picked her up and started spinning around, she laughed and held on tight. Just as she did when she was a kid, she always loved when he did that. “Weee, hah hah hah!!”

Once placed back down, she curiously sees him do that little action, giving a little ‘ooo?’ in reaction. Presented his hat, she humbly accepts it…and like the playful goof she is, “wears” his hat right on top of her own hat.

“Ohh Uncle, you’re too sweet! I can feel my magic powers growing with two hats, now, pff!”

          “Aha! Two hats, you say!?”

With a skillful twirl of his baton, he reaches up on his tippy-toes ( though he truthfully needn’t do so ) and gently boops Trucy upon her tower of hats with the end of it. He takes his hat back, pretending to try and shake something out of it with quite a bit of force. The magician scratches his head as he peers into the black lining with mock interest and confusion... And he looks to Trucy, then, flashing his teeth rather mischievously.

          “How puzzling! I am utterly perplexed! Oh, but wait--!            Could it be!?”

Valant smiles from ear to ear as he puts his hat back on and removes hers in turn -- and as soon as he flips it over, streams of colourful ribbon BURST from within, strewn half-way across the room by the time they fully unravel. A gloved hand rummages inside, and he pulls out a sealed envelope and a bag of heart-shaped chocolates, presenting them to her with a bow.

          “Alakooooongratulations!”

         “Miss Trucy! Bravo, bravo!!”

He arrives ( quite normally, as Apollo may perhaps tell himself ) by walking in straight through the door, baton held under his arm as he claps his hands together. He is practically BRIMMING with pride as he swoops in to lift the young woman -- now a fully fledged magician & entertainer in her own right -- up into a tight squeeze, and spins her around once, twice, thrice!!

Down she goes, back upon her own two feet, and he tips his head to her in a mark of respect. That silk hat of his falls from his head, and he allows it to roll down the front of his arm, where it shall eventually bounce from his wrist -- and he catches it in mid-air, offering it out to his dear ‘niece’ with a flourish of his cape.

          “A present for a special young lady, to mark the beginning of a blessedly            bright new era for the Troupe!”

          “Now, what was that name again..? Jovial? Jamboree? Justin?              Agh! My memory is as unavailing & unproductive as ever,            unintentional though it may be!”

With a sudden flick of the wrist, the badge upon Justice’s lapel is suddenly gone in an instant -- and Valant grins and laughs at his own forgetfulness, a hand set upon his hip in thought.

          “Kindly jog my memory, and perhaps the object you seek shall            reappear before your very eyes!”

          “Oh, how mine eyes doth deceive! A fair figment of the distant past,            here to haunt the soul of this heartbroken old man!”

His laughter rings throughout the room, shoulders lifting -- and he can scarcely believe it. Thalassa -- his Thalassa -- here in the flesh!

IMPOSSIBLE. IMPROBABLE. IMPLAUSIBLE.  Yet... He supposes that their lives have always been stranger than fiction, no?

So very quickly does that larger than life persona fade -- and the magician falls quiet once more, gripping his baton between both hands, tight. Utterly mystified by her presence, he finds himself unable ( or perhaps unwilling ) to see her as little more than an illusion, made only to confuse and bewilder.

          “If this is some cruel trick, I do not wish to partake in it for much longer.            You are DEAD. I saw it with my own eyes!!”

And with a loud 'POP!’, glitter and confetti comes spewing forth from the magician’s hat as he extends it toward the young attorney, and he chuckles as it drifts and settles atop Mr. Justice’s hair, where it shall forever remain until the end of time.
