It was silly, all of this. It was silly how defensive Sirius fault around her, having to put up a shield against her hurt, her confessions of pain and feeling betrayed. It was silly that the world they had been born into wouldn’t have allowed them to be be proper friends any more, that pride and status mattered more than a valued friendship. It was silly that he didn’t dare to confess what he still felt and thought, that he had to fight her, not wanting to remember what used to be sweet and good in the world that he had left, that had chased him away.
Alecto had meant much. Alecto had made his childhood bearable, innocent play and pure laughter. One of the few sparkling stars in a black sky surrounding him.
He should thank her. He should tell her. But allowing those feelings to overrun him, life that was already guilt-ridden and confusing enough would lose even more of the balance he tried to uphold. If he could admit that a person from his old life still were good, missed, cherished, how could he continue to fight against those that caused wrong, those he suspected to be a Eater, that he once had liked and admired?
Sirius wouldn’t bee bale to be active in the Order.
But she deserved, she deserved the recognition of friendship once, of hope and encouragement she had given him.
Every world she said brought him closer to reveal, to spill, to admit to being weak. Wasn’t as cold-hearted as she thought. He remembered. He felt. He missed.
And suddenly she had grabbed hold of his robes, her closeness making his shoulders and back to stiffen. The warmth of her presence teasing his nerves through the layers of clothing, a soul that had missed the warmth of the other. A body not used to closeness that also protested, his private sphere having been broken.
A tear, and Sirius’ eyes widened in unease of her raw emotions, her naked vulnerable state. Open, in public, she showed her mourning, his worlds having stung her.
Tears because of him. Not for him to soothe, and Sirius’ felt his won throat tighten once more, lips that parted in silence that carried everything he wanted to say but couldn’t.
The muscles of his right arm made him to reach out his hand, a will to stroke away those tears that sweetened her skin, to tame the blind anger that had rushed through her, from blankness to this but he couldn’t.
"Alecto..:", Sirius breathed, voice soft in pleading as he took a few balancing steps backwards as she pushed him away from her, the hands that wanted to embrace her shifted their focus to straighten out the robes she had tussled in her fit of feelings.
Alecto’s words rang of truth when their showered down over him. As much as they were false. He couldn’t apologise. But he had cared. He had cared so much. Still did. He would be saddened beyond properness would harm come to his childhood princess.
"What do you want of me?" He asked, even though the pleading for apologises and recognition made it hard to breath. "I’m cheering on a side that’s good, that would have made our friendship possible beyond houses and betrayal of blood. Isn’t that fucking evidence enough? I cared for you, Alecto, don’t take that away", Sirius said as he re-gripped his wand as Alecto danced towards the fight of past and present and future masked as greed for the bounty on his head.
Sirius hoped, too, that it would hurt him. That it would cleanse him somewhat of this guilt that rode him, wore him down, a loyal companion.
“Rennervate!” Sirius attacked the spell directed towards him. He wouldn’t allow defeat too easily, even if he longed for her to win over him, as much as he ached to reveal the aching of his soul in a proper, good fight that would knock her, too.
Sirius arm moved in a forward slash, a green light that got aimed at her when his lips formed “Verdimillious!”
