DAY TWENTY NINE:
Archard (click here for a timelapse video for this drawing!)
Archard is the most recent hero to have been claimed by the forest. Hailing from the southern city of Seaver, Archard was the Crown Prince and only son of King Arlefeur. He had taken in friendship a band of adventurers whose next thrill was to roam the forest of Alai. King Arlefuer had forbade his son to go; however, the next morning his bed was found empty and his armour gone. Only one in the band of twenty able-bodied men and women returned. She told a story of such horror it is said that King Arlefuer died of shock and sorrow right on his throne. Archard was gored by the venomous boar, Barrengaith, and died a slow, painful death. Ever since, Archard has been seen preying upon the weary adventurers in the southern reaches of the forest. His eyes glowing unnaturally and his flesh nearly rotted off the bone, Archard has clearly been resurrected by the nefarious necromancer Carri Nach.

This year I wanted to collaborate with my fiancee and she’s written all the lore associated with these monstrous creatures.
THE FOREST OF ALAI
The Forest of Alai is a subject worth mentioning. For tales grow daily of monstrous creatures that lie in it’s depths. Trees as tall as mountains cross the rolling hills from sea to sea as if marking a last warning to all that beyond lie the beasts of gods. Few venture through needlessly, for few return unscathed. Here be the horrors that torment the bravest of souls, so if you must step through the forest and cross paths with such creatures described, be warned it may be the last thing you see.
