@cartelheir played: when were you going to tell me? / borderland pilar to chishiya (maybe after a game or smth)
𝗚𝗔𝗠𝗘 𝗡𝗔𝗠𝗘: MISC ANGST MEMES
Chishiya's beginning to suspect that there's something about older women that gives them an UNCANNY ABILITY to see what others don't. Not all of them, not even most of them. But out of the few people to see more of him than the average person, it always seems to be these older women with a penchant games. Either because of a husband obsessed with poker, or because they themselves are gamemasters. Maybe it's because they can see what others don't. THAT CHISHIYA PLAYS WITH HIS LIFE THE SAME WAY HE DOES A GAME PIECE. Most people don't. They play wildly different strategies when they imagine themselves on the gameboard. They won't take the same risks, won't gamble their chances. They play scared. And Chishiya plays with NOTHING. It's hollow, he'll play risky just to make things more exciting.
It's funny, considering Chishiya has no experience with anyone seeing him, that he'd meet two people here who see more than anyone he shares a biological connection with. But one's dead. One is not. At least not yet; Chishiya thinks it's reasonable to assume Pilar will make it far, if not the whole way through.
" Tell you what? " Chishiya asks as he pokes around the bodies for anything useful. HEARTLESS? Sure. Chishiya's touch is clinical and cold, offering no comfort to the deceased. Nothing beyond what he needs to do to see if they have anything useful. ABSURD TRADITIONS WON'T DO ANYONE ANY GOOD. The dead have no need of what they possess, and Chishiya wouldn't care even if they did.
Chishiya has a good idea of what she's talking about despite his words.
" Although, if you're asking - the answer was probably going to be never. " He doesn't look up until he's pulled out a knife from one of the pockets and tucks it into his own before he glances up towards her. DOES IT UNSETTLE HER? To be met with dead eyes, or bare witness to his cunning smirk when he dooms another, or the carelessness he regards his own life with? Or is it just sad to her, like the old woman before. You're such a sad existence. She hadn't been wrong. It had been unsettling to be that seen though. His regards Pilar with a slow blink.
" In regards to the game, I figured you'd figure it out without me saying anything and risking too many others catching on. " There'd been one in there, smart but TOO SELFLESS. Chishiya hadn't been surprised when they'd died. He straightens up. " Besides, learning the games and rules of the world is more fun to learn yourself rather than be spoon-fed. "
It likely isn't what she means, and he knows that.
