Wait I’m not caught up on the Twitter wedding, what happened??
Im not sure how across the whole situation you are, so ill give a top to bottom summary:
Chad Lindberg (Ash from S2, with occasional guest appearances after) and Samantha Ferris (from S2-S5) have been role-playing their characters and "live tweeting" from heaven's Roadhouse. They made tweets a few weeks back that implied a destiel wedding on Valentines day (stuff like "wedding season is nearly here", "Hunter weddings can get rowdy," "something big is happening at the roadhouse on VDay," plus liking a bunch of tweets that asked them if they were talking about a destiel wedding).
So we took that and ran with it -- decided that regardless of what Chad or Samantha did, Dean and Cas were getting married on Valentines day. And then come VDay Chad and Samantha "live tweeted" various general valentines day updates from the Roadhouse - nothing destiel flavoured; just general standard valentines day stuff.
Meanwhile, the fans hosted a huge wedding party. Everyone was live tweeting what was happening at the wedding, who was saying and doing what, who cried tears of joy, who danced with whom, etc. It was massive and fantastic and we all had a blast and at the end of it, Dean and Cas drove off in the Impala, "just married" scrawled on the back window and cans trailing behind the bumper bar, to head off on their honeymoon. #DeanCasWedding trended worldwide for over 24 hours, hitting #1 in a bunch of different countries.
Initally, Chad and Samantha acknowledged nothing about the wedding. If only they had continued that silence. They had their valentines day roadhouse bash; we had our wedding; the two did not need to be in conflict.
But then Samantha was like "wedding? What wedding?? There was no wedding!" and Chad was like "yeah no wedding happened just general valentines day shenanighans."
Needless to say, folks weren't thrilled by this. Bears mentioning that I didn't see ANY disrespectful comments from fans; just comments like "hey we aren't telling you that your valentines day event didn't happen; can you please not try to tell us that ours didn't happen?" And "we're all having fun here; there's no need to invalidate other people," and stuff like that-- all politely worded, no hate, no aggression. Clear disappointment, that they would try to step on everyone's fun like this, but no hate.
But both of them buckled down and have accused fans of being bullies, and implied that we're not staying true to the spirit of the show, and etc. Chad has said that his blocking finger is getting tired; Samantha has basically said that we're being brats for not being grateful for the updates they've been doing. Which, no. We've all been enjoying their posts, we've all been having fun with them, but when they said "oh no THAT OTHER THING didn't happen," people were like "dudes come on, thats not cool."
So thats the Twitter update. Initially Chad was being at least vaguely respectable about it (saying stuff like "it was never my intention to upset anyone; I just wanted to do fun roadhouse updates for you all, sorry if anyones been hurt," and such) but Samantha kind of came out swinging from the outset, and hasn't backed down yet.
And its all so unnecessary???? Like. No one's out there telling them that their Roadhouse live tweets aren't real or didnt happen. They're having fun, and thats great. There's no need to attempt to invalidate the many thousands of fans who hosted a fucking global wedding.
Anyway it doesn't matter, because Dean and Cas DID get married on Valentines day, and it was fuckin GREAT, party of the CENTURY, and if Chad and Samantha didn't go then thats on them. They were invited, but they didnt show, and that ain't our fault.
Tldr: Dean and Cas got married on Valentines day, and nothing Chad and Samantha say can undo that. 💙💚
