next chapter's summary makes me think this is unlikely but i hope mal loses his shit next chapter. he was already on the edge of losing his shit all day today (trying to kill valax, the talks about his fear of fucking up, even if u don't romance him and don't take the diamond scenes) and it draws my attention that the last panel was not MC being swept by the tide but mal's reaction to it (again, regardless of whether or not you romance him)

it's pretty clear to me that mal is fucking terrified of losing MC (or any of his friends) again and he's already carrying survivor's guilt the size of god, made worse by the fact that he's blaming himself for shadow nia. so to (possibly) lose MC again when he was right next to them? i really think it might cause a full breakdown, possibly of the crying variety but, from everything we've seen, most likely of the desperately violent, willing to do anything variety. i wanna see him jump right into the tide and almost get himself killed again. i wanna see him tear the shadow realm apart until he finally founds MC again (since the summary implies MC gets lost from the rest of the group). i wanna see him find MC and immediately try to fucking kill valax

and all I'm saying is: if there was ever a time for a shadow!mal reveal.....

Follow up to this post, because @oh-so-youre-a-nerd said "spray bottle" and so did vonmach on reddit, who said "Mal or Imtura having a spray bottle for whenever Aerin inevitably annoys them. I love the dynamic of the rest of the party treating Aerin like a feral cat while MC is the only one who doesn't see it."

So… I may have accidentally figured out how old Tyril is in BOLAS and BOLAS 2 while trying to figure out how long Tyril would be by himself when my human!MC (Kassandra) eventually passes (I’m a slut for angst okay)

On Twitter/X in 2020, Choices states that Tyril is the equivalent of 25 in human years.

The Lore tablets state that Elves reach maturity at age 50 and live on average to 300 meaning that 50 years is about 18-20 years in human years.

So, if 50 years is the equivalent of 20 human years and Tyril is 25 in human years, he’d be around 75 years old in the BOLAS books.

ETA: turns out my initial math was slightly wrong. If 50 elf years is 20 human years, that means 1 human year is equivalent to 2.5 elf years. Meaning 25 in human years is 62.5 years. My elf husband is closer 63 years old, not 75.

So in chapter 8, when MC has their flashback of being held in Valax's dungeon, it's your LI who helps them come back to their senses. And if it's one of the main four, they all say something sweet along the lines of, 'It's alright, I'm here for you.' But if it's Aerin, he says, 'I know what you're feeling.' And I mean, obviously, who else can relate to MC's experience more than the man who spent the year locked up in a dungeon himself, but omg. The writers are so real for adding this detail.
