Venting Frustrations | Caspian & Alessandra
She was secretly thankful that it was her father that had come to find her and not one of her older brothers. She didn’t expect Cornelius, why would he dare to tear himself away from Cerise to spend time with her anyway? Or to see if she was alright —- or, whatever. She just didn’t expect Cornelius to care anymore. The young princess moved her hands to her father’s as he bent beside her and looked at her as if he cared. At least she knew if there was someone that would have cared it would have been her father. Caspian had always been the one in the family to encourage her through everything.
“Cornelius has no time for me anymore.” Alessandra looked away from the King for a moment as she didn’t want the tears rimming her eyes to fall; and they were already threatening to do so. All she wanted was for someone to tell her that everything was alright —- but it wasn’t. Things were changing and Alessandra didn’t like how it seemed they changed overnight. It seemed Cerise and Cornelius were enjoying spending time together and away from her and she didn’t know what to do with her time, or herself, right now. “He doesn’t want me involved in his friendship with Cerise.” And that was really what was upsetting her —- or was it? Was she perhaps jealous that she was losing Cornelius to Cerise? He was her twin brother. Cornelius was literally an extension of her. She couldn’t help as one of the tears slid down her cheeks. “He doesn’t need me…” She moved her hand to her face and ran her fingers against the wet cheeks and brushed the tears away as she tried to stay composed like a princess should. Right now she didn’t know what to do – she couldn’t even read to escape and get away from these feelings because they were so strong and distracted her. The feelings were daunting and she literally felt sick to her stomach when she thought of the feeling of being replaced.
So it was true. Caspian knew that sooner or later the twins would have to be separated. But he had thought that Arista and himself would have to be the ones to make to do that. Never had he thought that it would happen on its own. Then again, he never thought he would hear Cornelius do such things to his sister. He didn't think that Cornelius was doing it to be cruel Alessandra but he didn't think his son realized just how he was hurting his twin.
"Sshh, Sunshine, don't cry," he whispered to her as he helped her wipe away her tears. He was aware that he could most likely upset her more by saying that but seeing her cry wasn't something he liked. The reason that he had given her her nickname was because Alessandra was his ray of sunshine. Her smile always brightened up his day and not seeing that smile now was making Caspian sad as well. Given the circumstance he understood though.
"I'm sorry your brother cancelled any plans you two had together. But I'm certain he does need you." He was trying to make this easy for her but he knew that he was probably failing at that. Cornelius possibly had a good reason as to why he wasn't spending as much as he used to with Alessandra. The fact that he was spending time with a girl that was his sister made Caspian think that his son possibly had some sort of stirrings for the other. Be it short or long term, he wouldn't know until he saw the two of them interacting but given Cornelius' age he had wondered when his youngest son would begin to take an interest in women. "Your his sister, twin for that matter, and no matter what happens he'll always love and need you."
