Alternative Identities (Bloodymary HC)

Grace finally remembers where he's seen Simon's face before! “His name is Markiplier!” He exclaims as he eagerly pulls up the archived YouTube channel on one of his many laptops. “My kids were obsessed with him! They'd beg me to pull up his videos during study hall all the time.” He pushes the laptop to Simon who stares in utter bewilderment at his doppelganger. His loud doppelganger. Grace continues, “He swears a lot so I would have to watch his videos at home until I found ones that were appropriate enough for school. Kinda ended up becoming a fan myself actually. He is pretty funny.” And easy on the eyes, but he'd never say that aloud.

Simon isn't impressed. More confused than anything actually. This man is the spitting image of himself, right down to the bump on his nose. “How is this... possible?”

Grace shrugs. “We're from different universes, right? Maybe this is you from my universe! Who knows how that stuff works.” Grace looks at the screen for a moment, smiling to himself in pride of how clever he was to connect the dots. Then, a thought. He claps his hands once. “Maybe there's a version of me in your universe too! Anyone ringing a bell?”

Simon thinks.

Actually... Yeah. There was someone...

One of his brothers back on Eden. Messy blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and broken glasses.

He was smarter than the rest of them (Simon thought so at least). He'd spend hours on end reading books, then even more hours still reciting all the information he had learned to anyone who was willing to listen (or was unfortunate enough to be within ear shot). Simon always liked him. He was always willing to listen. Hell, the only reason he knew so much outside of Father's teachings was because of this brother. He never believed the dogma. He always sided with Simon when he would challenge Father's teachings. He agreed that it was far more likely for a handful of space stations to disappear instead of all of the stars and planets, he just didn't know why. He and Simon discussed theories in private. What was his name? What was his name?

Not Ryland. Something similar. Comically similar.

Ryan? Ryan! That sounded right! His brother Ryan!

Ryan who was—too smart for his own good...

Father sent him out for a baptism, tired of his defiance. But his body was never found. Nothing brought back to the soil... The first theory was that he was kidnapped by C.O.I... But that theory was quickly shot down by Father... He purposed his own: Ryan fled. Went with C.O.I. willingly. Refused to die for the cause. A heretic. A coward. Never heard from nor seen again.
