"What are men to rocks and mountains?" - Jane Austen #china #shenzhen #backpacker #vscocam #travel #adventure
"He was becoming a bundle of contradictions: a person who loved to travel but always missed home; a masterful manager of people and events who planned memorable parties or trips but was then content to sit back and watch; a curious and engaging young man who was always eager to meet new people but longed for his âtrueâ friends."
Any time you talk to anyone about something that they love, theyâre, like, their most beautiful. Itâs a cool gift to get to talk to people about what they love.

Forbidden Fruit (Breaking Bad) Print Pretty fucking cool.
You can read. Which is to say, you can glance at a piece of paper (or a glowing screen) and immediately, effortlessly take in the thoughts of someone else. The greatest philosophers, poets, scientists, novelists, artists, and world leaders in history have left the contents of their thoughts just lying around in a form that you can access instantly. We take it for granted, but itâs really magical.

This is the truth: We are a nation accustomed to being afraid. If Iâm being honest, not just with you but with myself, itâs not just the nation, and itâs not just something weâve grown used to. Itâs the world, and itâs an addiction. People crave fear. Fear justifies everything. Fear makes it okay to have surrendered freedom after freedom, until our every move is tracked and recorded in a dozen databases the average man will never have access to. Fear creates, defines, and shapes our world, and without it, most of us would have no idea what to do with ourselves. Our ancestors dreamed of a world without boundaries, while we dream new boundaries to put around our homes, our children, and ourselves. We limit our potential day after day in the name of a safety that we refuse to ever achieve. We took a world that was huge with possibility, and we made it as small as we could.â

For every step that you march in defense of others, you should dance in celebration of this beautiful life
Sophia Bush
"Every human heartbeat is a universe of possibilities. And it seemed to me that I finally understood what he'd meant. He'd been trying to tell me that every human will has the power to transform its fate. I'd always thought that fate was something unchangeable: fixed for every one of us at birth, and as a constant as a the circuit of the stars. But I suddenly realised that life is stranger and more beautiful than that. The truth is that, no matter what kind of game you find yourself in, no matter how good or bad the luck, you can change your life completely with a single thought or single act of love ... For this is what we do. Put one food forward and then the other. Lift our eyes to the snarl and smile of the world once more. Think. Act. Feel. Add our little consequence to the tides of good and evil that flood and drain the world. Push our brave hearts into the promise of a new day. With love: the passionate search for a truth other than our own. With longing: the pure, ineffable yearning to be saved. For so long as fate keeps waiting, we live on. God help us. God forgive us. We live on."
Shantaram -Â Gregory David RobertsÂ
Go after her. Fuck, donât sit there and wait for her to call, go after her because thatâs what you should do if you love someone, donât wait for them to give you a sign cause it might never come, donât let people happen to you, donât let me happen to you, or her, sheâs not a fucking television show or tornado. There are people I might have loved had they gotten on the airplane or run down the street after me or called me up drunk at four in the morning because they need to tell me right now and because they cannot regret this and I always thought Iâd be the only one doing crazy things for people who would never give enough of a fuck to do it back or to act like idiots or be entirely vulnerable and honest and making someone fall in love with you is easy and flying 3000 miles on four days notice because you canât just sit there and do nothing and breathe into telephones is not everyoneâs idea of love but it is the way I can recognize it because that is what I do. Go scream it and be with her in meaningful ways because that is beautiful and that is generous and that is what loving someone is, that is raw and that is unguarded, and that is all that is worth anything, really.

Travel is little beds and cramped bathrooms. Itâs old television sets and slow Internet connections. Travel is extraordinary conversations with ordinary people. Itâs waiters, gas station attendants, and housekeepers becoming the most interesting people in the world. Itâs churches that are compelling enough to enter. Itâs McDonaldâs being a luxury. Itâs the realization that you may have been born in the wrong country. Travel is a smile that leads to a conversation in broken English. Itâs the epiphany that pretty girls smile the same way all over the world. Travel is tipping 10% and being embraced for it. Travel is the same white T-shirt again tomorrow. Travel is accented sex after good wine and too many unfiltered cigarettes. Travel is flowing in the back of a bus with giggly strangers. Itâs a street full of bearded backpackers looking down at maps. Travel is wishing for one more bite of whatever that just was. Itâs the rediscovery of walking somewhere. Itâs sharing a bottle of liquor on an overnight train with a new friend. Travel is âMaybe I donât have to do it that way when I get back home.â Itâs nostalgia for studying abroad that one semester. Travel is realizing that âage thirtyâ should be shed of its goddamn stigma.

"The choice to pursue a dream, at the destruction of my comfort with the loss of safety and certainty, all for the purpose of doing something that inspires others to a fuller life of wonder and creativity and quality, to me, that is a burden of responsibility. To me, that is growing up.
Jedidiah Jenkins
25 Things To Do Before You Turn 25 1. Make peace with your parents. Whether you finally recognize that they actually have your best interests in mind or you forgive them for being flawed human beings, you canât happily enter adulthood with that familial brand of resentment. 2. Kiss someone you think is out of your league; kiss models and med students and entrepreneurs with part-time lives in Dubai and donât worry about if theyâre going to call you afterward. 3. Minimize your passivity. 4. Work a service job to gain some understanding of how tipping works, how to keep your cool around assholes, how a few kind words can change someoneâs day. 5. Recognize freedom as a 5:30 a.m. trip to the diner with a bunch of strangers youâve just met. 6. Try not to beat yourself up over having obtained a âuselessâ Bachelorâs Degree. Debt is hell, and things didnât pan out quite like you expected, but you did get to go to college, and having a degree isnât the worst thing in the world to have. We will figure this mess out, I think, probably; the point is youâre not worth less just because there hasnât been an immediate pay off for going to school. Be patient, work with what you have, and remember that a lot of us are in this together. 7. If youâre employed in any capacity, open a savings account. You never know when you might be unemployed or in desperate need of getting away for a few days. Even $10 a week is $520 more a year than you wouldâve had otherwise. 8. Make a habit of going outside, enjoying the light, relearning your friends, forgetting the internet. 9. Go on a 4-day, brunch-fueled bender. 10. Start a relationship with your crush by telling them that you want them. Directly. Like, look them in the face and say it to them. Say, I want you. I want to be with you. 11. Learn to say ânoâ â to yourself. Donât keep wearing high heels if you hate them; donât keep smoking if youâre disgusted by the way you smell the morning after; stop wasting entire days on your couch if youâre going to complain about missing the sun. 12. Take time to revisit the places that made you who you are: the apartment you grew up in, your middle school, your hometown. These places may or may not be here forever; you definitely wonât be. 13. Find a hobby that makes being alone feel lovely and empowering and like something to look forward to. 14. Think you know yourself until you meet someone better than you. 15. Forget who you are, what your priorities are, and how a person should be. 16. Identify your fears and instead of letting them dictate your every move, find and talk to people who have overcome them. Donât settle for experiencing .000002% of what the world has to offer because youâre afraid of getting on a plane. 17. Make a habit of cleaning up and letting go. Just because it fit at one point doesnât mean you need to keep it forever â whether âitâ is your favorite pair of pants or your ex. 18. Stop hating yourself. 19. Go out and watch that movie, read that book, listen to that band you already lied about watching, reading, listening to. 20. Take advantage of health insurance while you have it. 21. Make a habit of telling people how you feel, whether it means writing a gushing fan-girl email to someone whose work you love or telling your boss why you deserve a raise. 22. Date someone who says, âI love youâ first. 23. Leave the country under the premise of âfinding yourself.â This will be unsuccessful. Places do not change people. Instead, do a lot of solo drinking, read a lot of books, have sex in dirty hostels, and come home when you start to miss it. 24. Suck it up and buy a Macbook Pro. 25. Quit that job thatâs making you miserable, end the relationship that makes you act like a lunatic, lose the friend whose sole purpose in life is making you feel like youâre perpetually on the verge of vomiting. Youâre young, youâre resilient, there are other jobs and relationships and friends if youâre patient and open.
