Rumors II Open

“Magick mistake?” Niall asked before setting down his bag and walking toward the kitchen where Cassandra stood. Luckily, the dogs, including his Lugh, were happily resting on the couch now that they had settled down about Niall’s arrival. As he stepped into the room, he spotted his girlfriend muttering something to herself, though it was the bright red blood dripping down Cassandra’s hand that really caught Niall’s attention.
“Did the glass shatter?” Niall asked, keeping calm. He spotted a broken glass on the counter, confirming his assumption. “Let me grab my kit,” the Warlock said as he returned to his bag and pulled out the First Aid Kit that he kept with him wherever he went. Upon returning to the kitchen, Niall quickly washed his hands with soap and water, grabbed the tweezers that Cass had managed to find, and then gently grasped her wrist.
“What happened?” he asked softly as he began to look for small glass shards embedded in her skin. Though Niall and Cass had kept in contact while he was in London, nothing compared to being able to converse with her face to face. Again, warmth settled over him, despite the situation.
Pulling out a shard of glass, Niall shook his head. “I think that’s it. Put some pressure on it, raise it a bit above your heart…there you go.” Niall leaned in and kissed the top of Cassandra’s head before heading back to the sink to wash his hands once more. “Do you think you need stitches, or will a plaster do?”
“Yeah.... kind of.” Cassandra admitted as she looked down at her her hands. Small and large shards of a curled glass protruded from deep red cuts. The alcohol from her whiskey had started to seep into the wounds causing a slight burning. But as she looked down at her hand she began to feel like she was floating away. Her body began to feel far from her.
The sound of screaming began to fill her ears. Somewhere a female voice is angry at something. She remembers feeling soothed by that anger. The other voice is louder and redder. Something about the voice makes her heart race. Her body tries to curl away from the sound. All she wants is for the soft anger to take her away and kiss her forehead the way she did on the garden that one time.
She hissed as Niall pulled out a large shard of glass effectively bringing her back to him. The lurching back and forth through time was making it hard for Cassandra to make sense of what was happening. She stared up at him for a moment before she realized that he had asked her a question, “Oh... I... I ummm...” She flinched a little as he pulled out a smaller piece. She didn’t want to make the night about her problems, but she also didn’t want to lie to him.
Her chest clinched as he kissed her forehead while she struggled to find words. It was such a small movement that he probably didn’t even think about. it was just part of who he was with her. Small signs of his appreciation of her.
So many secrets made her feel far from him.
She shook her head, “I think I just need guaze wrapped around it. I umm... I I suppose... I haven’t told you about something I can do.” She took a deep breath as she tried to control her emotions. “Ever since I was... gosh... I...” For a moment she tried to think of a time when she didn’t feel the things that she felt, She pressed her eyebrows together as she couldn’t remember a single memory without that in the background. “I don’t ever remember not sensing people’s emotions all the time. It’s been like a sixth sense for me my whole life. I had to do training in New Moon to control it, because I started to be able to manipulate people’s emotions which is... not okay. But because I constantly am controlling my ability sometimes... it gets out of control- especially when I’m very angry.
I just.... I was reading a text someone sent me about my business, and my energy just sort of... pulsed... I guess.. causing the glass to shatter in my hands.” She looked up at him hoping that he’d understand. She hoped that he wouldn’t care that she could constantly sense his emotions if she didn’t turn it off. She hoped he’d understand that it wasn’t her choice.
