Alternate Universe: 1970’s   ↗   Jyn & Cassian

It’s 1973, New York City. Jyn, a simple, unexciting girl, moves from a small town to go to a prestigeous music school, hoping to gain a place on the New York symphony as a violinist. Reluctantly she goes to a concert with a new friend, and the bass player of the band playing, Cassian, wild and definitely exciting, can’t take his eyes away from her. Going on a dangerous downhill spiral of love, sex, drugs and rock n’ roll, Jyn struggles with the life she could have with Cassian and the life she should have without him.

Cassian sees her everyday, even if she’s too busy juggling being an A student and a social butterfly to notice him back. He normally keeps to himself, small knit of friends, below average student, a bit awkward but generally likable. A chance encounter with her one day changes everything, and despite the nasty looks from her friends and all the rumors that could be started, she just can’t seem to stay away from him. (X)

After Jyn’s mother, a super, was murdered by a shadow organization her scientist father used to be part of, the young girl ran off before she could be taken. Untrained in her super strength, Jyn struggles with maintaining stability. 

Cassian faced similar tragedy from the organization but is better in control of his telekinetic powers, thanks to finding a group of supers who took him in and gave him purpose. But if Cass gets overly emotional, the results can be catastrophic. So not only does Cassian suppress his powers, but his emotions as well

When information leaks that Jyn’s father is creating a device that can track all supers, making them vulnerable to the organization, Cass recruits the young woman in hopes of finding the scientist before he completes the machine. Although at first tense and awkward between the two, they quickly find a trust in one another. As they spend further time together, Jyn and Cass form a bond that can either be their ruin…or their salvation
