Help us make books and stories more accessible.
Every year, we go back to basics for our longest running campaign: Accio Books. In the dawning hours of our organization, we built the Harry Potter Alliance on the idea that story and the people who believe in it can change the world. For over ten years, this has remained the foundation of everything we do.
We know story is powerful, so it follows that we believe story should be accessible. Through Accio Books, our global community comes together to celebrate story, fight for literary access, and collect books which are then distributed to underserved populations. Our sixth Accio Books campaign is just around the corner – we can’t wait.
But first, we need your help.
Today, our second Friends of the Apparating Library fundraiser kicks off.
The money raised will allow us to coordinate a book drive spanning several continents, provide essential resources to our members and chapters, support events in honor of World Book Night in three cities, advocate to Congress for increased support for public libraries, and build a brand new library in Masaka, Uganda.
To thank you for your support, we’ve gathered some stellar perks, including:
The Fiction Kitchen cookbook, a compilation of delicious and/or dubious recipes by some of our wordy pals like Laurie Halse Anderson, Jon Scalzi, Hank Green, Mara Wilson, and NaNoWriMo.
Hex the Patriarchy, a compilation of songs about literary heroines, featuring YouTubers and wizard rockers fighting the good fight. Also available in t-shirt form - you can get both with the bundle!
Our new Felix Felicis mug, guaranteed to make every day you use it the luckiest day of your life.
Bookish wizard activist gear for every important surface in your life, from laptop/flying Ford Anglia decals to human baby onesies!
A special Shamrock green version of our Wizard Activist t-shirt. Only available for our St. Patrick’s Day launch!
And so much more. Like, loads more. Seriously.
Last year, you raised 335% of our original goal, helping us not only run the Accio Books campaign (which raised an unprecedented 64,909), but also provide additional shipping grants to amazing chapters. By donating and spreading the word, you’re doing real good in the world.
What can we accomplish this time around? Wands at the ready.
The weapon we have is love (and books),
