No, no, you don't get it. Frank took that shot to protect Peter. He thought that Jean had frozen Peter too and that there was nothing else he could do to stop her taking over the entire city and doing who knew what to everyone! And, notably, he waited until it really did look, from the outside, that Jean had won and that she wasn't listening to Peter. He gave Peter time to talk her down! No wonder he was devastated when Peter took the bullet instead. That's the kid he was trying to save!

I just read the Raven cycle. How did it take me this long to find it. It has EVERYTHING. Romance mystery intrigue murder FUCKING MAGIC. This shit is my cocaine. I read the whole thing in five days. So many people boil Ronan down to Dark and Aggressive and Unsympathetic but its so far from his character that it makes me concerned for the literacy rate and reading comprehension.

Mean?

The same Ronan who did a MASSIVE list of adorable things with Adam? The hand cream? The watch?

The same Ronan who held and reassured Blue when she was crying after seeing the image of her mom in the mirror lake?? (Their relationship is SO important to me, he is absolutely someone she can lean on and I think the ONLY reason we don't see them communicate in the Dreamer Trilogy is because Ronan Doesn't Answer Phones so she wouldn't even try)

Uncaring?

The same Ronan who freaked out when Gansey was staring at the bee in his room, who immediately killed it and disposed of it in a very purposeful way to keep Gansey safe (after they had just had a massive argument and while he was very pointedly grieving Niall)???

The same Ronan who was the only one who didn't know Gansey’s fate in the Raven King (I never see anyone talk about this, but everyone else, including Gansey himself, knew going in) because no one would dare tell him because they knew he wouldn't take it well??

The same Ronan who went through the cave in Blue Lily, Lily Blue and systematically un-created the hornets to keep Gansey safe??

The same Ronan who fully went nonverbal when Gansey was missing, who did not stop until he had a solution to find him?

Cruel?

The Ronan who broke down Hennessy's door to save the girls from drowning?

The Ronan who was known for taking care of his cows and his farm and gently holding the barn mice up to his cheek to feel their heartbeats?

The Ronan who took such gentle care of Aurora and Matthew and Opal and Hennessy, who tended to them and dropped everything to take care of them.

Ronan cares SO deeply and SO passionately about EVERYTHING. He is the most observant and the kindest out of all of them. Gansey wants to be kind but it does not come naturally to him. He is learning, but Ronan cannot help it.

Ronan wants to be mean and rude and standoffish because its easier, and he wants to rot in his bed everyday, but he can't HELP himself. There are people, hurting, and they need protection and care and there are Things to be done.

Every time I have an in-depth conversation with another researcher ab my work (science) and I stumble over my words and can't describe things accurately or formally and I have to use simpler analogies and smaller concepts and it seems like I have no idea what I'm talking about even though I do for the most part

Then I start talking about history or sociology or linguistics and suddenly I'm intelligent and well-spoken and can give a big long monologue on a topic like I'm giving my dissertation

And I feel like Sofia Vergara in that one episode of Modern Family where she yells ab how smart she is in Spanish. Like I'm so smart in everything except My Topic I swear but I look like an idiot to these people

Everyone around me constantly: "wait, weren't you going to do that Thing?"

Me, lying throuh my teeth: "Omg you're right, I do need to do that! I totally forgot!"

I did not forget. I cannot possibly forget. My brain has been reciting it on loop for the past week and its easier to say "oh oops!" than it is to explain that I've been obsessing over doing it and over-analyzing it and picking it apart and hyping it up to be a much bigger task literally every spare moment and every night as a fall asleep.

I promise I'm aware of it.

spiderman brand new day and the importance of care. mj not loving peter due to not knowing him, but still caring about him enough to invite him up, to draw him, to send frank to watch him, to give him advice and be concerned. ned not remembering what spiderman means to him, but trying to find him anyway to thank him. frank worrying about this kid who is determined to save everybody he possibly could. peter caring about jean grey, taking a bullet for her despite almost all his interactions with her being antagonistic, because she exists, and she deserves so much better. jean crying over peter getting shot, because he was kind and promised to be there for her and made good on that promise immediately, even though she ended up there because of him. new york and their care for spidey.

peter parker and his care for everybody- his family, his friends, people he has never met, people who have continually tried to hurt him.

spiderman: brand new day and the importance of care of any kind.

Sometimes I wonder why I fell so in love with Project Hail Mary and then I remember that I'm actively working towards a degree in molecular biology and I would probably be an elementary school teacher if they got paid more than 12 raspberries/year
