Was this not how this scene went?
I need all batfam fans to check out Red Hood Resurrection. It's on youtube for free, fan made show that has better writing than anything DC has done for tv since Under The Red Hood.
It has an indie go go campaign which you can support here, I know I will.
Red hood resurrection fans heres some food anyways…
DICK GRAYSON I WILL GET YOUR ASS!!! LEAVE TIM ALONE
Everything Red Hood Resurrection did beautifully:
The Joker's laugh and voice, everything about that performance amazing. Referential but also its own thing. The mixture of Heath's visuals with Hamill derived voice work, the sick brutality from the Arkham games.
In fact much of the show feels like paying omage to a mixture of the comics, the Arkham series, and the og cartoon.
The fight coreography getting increasingly complex but never losing its sense. The people doing their choreographies aren't just doing cool action, every movement and decision the characters make in the fights is somehow either saying something about those characters or is actively telling the story.
Jason being a shit. Cringy quips, stealing Black Mask's helmet, Bruces armor and his fucking 25mil XD. All things he absolutely would do.
In general this Jason taps into that calculated and intentional violence with interruptions of impulsivity that's so Jason. Jason will make a plan to send you off the rocker when he needs to, but he has that readiness to adapt and think on his feet that's unique to him.
Dick's casting. We all praise David and Johann for their work on Jason and Tim, but Nicolas has some amazing close up scenes where his expressions are doing all the work. Like when Jason is talking about Barbara, the moment Jason says her name you can see Dick's expression stutter before he forces himsekf to focus on Jason. And I love that he looks like he could be Romani, because that's a part of Dick that's often ignored. In general Nicolas is excellent at giving us a Dick who's trying to be the responsible adult and live up to whatever expectations he thinks Bruce has for him, while his more playful nature occasional peeks through the veil.
And Tim. Yes yes, Johann is pretty, but far more impressively his smartass energy is what sells the character for me. And the way he can act that personality with his whole body language is so cool, like those laughs and moments of cocky amusement in the first meeting with Jason.
Speaking of which, I love that Jason's beef is not with Tim. He's actually careful with him in their first fight, but eventually takes the kiddie gloves off because Tim is simply in the way, and that's when Tim loses.
And Tim having such an instant willingness and desire to try and befriend Jason. My theory is Tim's attitude towards Jason in this show can be explained by this Tim believing he will always be inferior to Jason. He will never be as important. And Tim's chosen solution to any conflict seems to be placation. It's really fascinating. He overcompensates by using his gadgets and tech know and generally trying to be as useful as he can.
And then there's the fight with Slade. Again, the choreography was amazing! And that moment when Tim problem solves his and Jason's bad fight chemistry by telling Jason to fight like Bruce... You can just tell what an amazing duo they could be like in the comics. I'm so excited to see what direction they take those two though, with Jason's... uhm. Embezzlement?
Dick yelling at Tim when he finally found out Tim had been hanging out with big bro, fighting Slade and stuff... I love that they also included Tim being smart as heck but really fucking dumb. It's as it should be.
Finally, maybe my favourite part: the way David's Jason continuously looks like a sad golden retriever...
they might have created him in a lab specifically to be jason todd… unconfirmed.
I need to share this because I need other people who love the character to see this series and know it's happening.
Noah Beyer has taken it upon himself to make the content the fandom needs and started a series about Red Hood. He's working hard to deliver a high quality project with very little in the way of budget and, honestly, he is succeeding!
Red Hood: Resurrection has a based take on Jason Todd's origin story and a cast that breathes life into the characters in the way that you always need in a live action adaptation. In the two episodes out so far, they have consistently been revealing parts of the background goings on of their universe while keeping you engaged with the characters and the story they wish to tell.
Noah made a video talking about the series and how he got started, give it a watch if you'd like to know more:
"Out living my best life"
"Nightwing someone is dying"
"This aint about em"
go watch Red Hood: Ressurection on youtube🫵
jason: wait am i really gonna steal 25 million dollars from bruce?
