EVA 02 Sculpt

This is a sculpted head of the Evangelion unit 02. This was sculpted in an oil based clay and then I created a mold and casted in resin.

To paint this sculpt I sprayed a base coat of silver paint and then masked and airbrushed the red sections. 

I really struggled in painting this one, I used Tamiya red transparent which has a weird consistency, it is a bit more thicker and sticky than the other paints, so what I learned from this is to add just a bit of water to the paint, only about 2 or 3 drops, and also spray small amounts of paint at a time because this paint dries even faster and it clogs the airbrush pretty fast. 

Another thing I learned with this type of paint is that when you finish the paint that is in the cup, clean the airbrush by spraying just water or alcohol, that way it will be clean to receive the next amount of paint, and it won’t get clogged. 

The rest of the colors I just hand painted them.

Rey’s Blaster ( WIP )

For this project I want to scratch build Rey’s Gun in a smaller scale ( 3/4 ), I’m using the blueprints created by Punished Props since they are free, you can get them here.

Started by creating the hand grip base by cutting out some styrene and syntra and make a sandwich of them to get the shape and thickness of it. I also made an adjustment since I noticed that the section that protects the trigger is a full connected section, I added an insert and now I have to fill in the gaps.

Also started creating the grips and for this ones I will fill them up and shape them with a lot of elbow grease.

Trollhunters Amulet

Trollhunters amulet from scratch.

I made a pattern in illustrator, you can download the pattern for free here:  Trollhunters amulet blueprint

Made the basic shape out of Sintra and the details with two part epoxy putty.

For this part I used mostly two part epoxy putty to be able to sculpt detail runes all the way round.

This is a two part mold, and the castings will be roto-casted

This will be a one part mold and I added tooth picks to the end of the horns and fangs to help air escape.

For the smaller parts I made a box mold, however casting parts in this is pretty difficult because they are so small. For the next time I think I’ll make a mold where I can injection cast these parts.

What I did for the center part is that I drew a pattern with illustrator based on some references to be able to replicate the graphics in the center part, then I laser engraved them in a 1.5mm acrylic. In this photo the acrylic still has the protective sheet (blue).

This is my first attempt on wiring something, It took me about an hour to put this together but I finally got it.

Game of Thrones Coasters

This are scratch built coasters, made out of sintra and some styrene. Then casted in resin.

Cut out basic shapes out of sintra.

With a sculpting tool I engraved the wood texture.

I glued the pieces together, and added little punched styrene, then primed and sanded the piece.

Made a one part silicone mold.

Casted a bunch of them, and sanded them for painting.

For the Stencils I cut them out of cardboard paper, this wasn’t perfect so I had to fix some details by hand after I painted the basic shape with the stencil.

Poe Dameron’s X-Wing Toy Re-paint

Got the new Poe Dameron’s Black X-Wing but when I opened it surprise! it is not black lol, so I have to give this guy a new paint job.

I first turned everything apart so that It’s easier for me to paint.

*Tip: Take a lot of pictures or a video while doing this so that when it is time to put it all together you know how to do it.

I painted it all black as a base, and then added color and some weathering with oil paints.

We got this awesome Storm trooper Nerf gun, and after looking at Bill Doran’s video thought I would give it a try.
