"Hey, nanocat! Guess who's here!" The infection dropped in as if out of nowhere, swinging her arm affectionately around either of the cyber cat's shoulders, crooked grin plastered upon her pale face as per usual. "Watcha been up to!? Haven't seen ya since that one night.~"
Having been up to her usual data recording shenanigans in this timestring, it was needless to say that the abrupt arrival of Virus threw her off guard like a–…Frisbee covered with spiders. Stiffening up in shock, an uncharacteristic pterodactyl screech ripped forth from her lips, before mismatched orbs narrowed grumpily over to the brunette. “What about last ni–” Then, everything came rushing back in a flash, a distinct red hue flooding her face. “Holy sh–! S-..Schnitzel!” Oto sputtered out, “S-…Shush, Vi! Must you announce such things so loudly?”

Arms folded over the infectious entity’s chest, brows raising higher upon her forehead. Her crooked grin did not fade for a moment–she was not one to lie, especially to someone she’d thought to be of meaning to her. She did pull the example out of nowhere–and, as specific as it was, she couldn’t recall encountering anything of the abominable sort. Hah. Minus Maka–
“Swear to my dead creators, whole thing was off th’ top of my head. And for yer information, i’m completely fuckin’ stable, right now. Like, you don’t even know.”
As if on cue, her form gave a slight fizzle, lasting for but a brief moment. Virus had, of course, felt it, but made an effort not to react in case Oto had noticed. Sure, that whole situation that night was BOMBASTIC, but hell, she’d rather not lose her dignity with the stamina she’d lost from it.
For the infectious entity before her, the unfortunate glitch to her body couldn’t have chosen a worse time to pop into the world. During Virus’s speech, Oto decided to let her guard back down, turning off to the side and opening up her anomaly scanner app once more.
Perhaps it had just been her imagination, but she could’ve sworn that…
At least… [SOMEWHERE] in the [WORLD]…
She had run into such an accursed thing that fit that description.
The white smiling cat…
…the strings of a puppet…
What an unusual [DREAM] that was….
wasn’t it?
[ANOMALY DETECTED!] [ANOMALY DETECTED!]
For the first time in what felt like centuries, the warning siren blared in her ears out of the blue, a sickly red tinge at the left side of her HUD flashing to indicate the location of the dangerous string of code that lurked in this world. She was swift to react, her right hand exploding into data and switching to its cyber rifle attack form.
There was no time to hesitate.
She whipped around, the barrel locked on target. From deep within, a bellowing cry ripped forth from the Angelic Unit’s lips with strength she didn’t even know she had.
“Vi! Look out!” She screamed at the top of her lungs, eyes desperately scanning about for the source of whatever was setting off the alarm. It was at this point, however, fear turned to horror at the realization of what she was about to shoot down… Sweet, good coder above. She had only been bluffing on the day they met. The whole thing about being an antivirus? Only a scare tactic. Heck, most of what she did was putting on a mask to make herself seem stronger than she really was.
Now…?
Now…
…that mask was as good as broken.
Not even a full sentence was there to show how she really felt, not even the energy to form a word was there. In that moment, only a single syllable slipped forth from those lips, the raised arm falling limply to her side as if every ounce of life was sucked out of it.
“…Vi?”
