You roll your eyes. "You're really going mad if you think I would have let you make it back alone after how you depleted Diluc's stock tonight."
Kaeya chuckles, but when you feel his chuckle turn into a retch, you hurry him to the nearest bush.
"Shit..." you gently brush back his hair with your fingers, holding his shoulder with the other hand. You wait for him to finish before softly patting his back in encouragement.
"Are you alright?"
He lets out a sad, weak laugh. "I'm working on that."
You're thankful that he doesn't get sick again during the rest of your walk to his home. When you reach his door, he fumbles a bit looking for his keys, thinking he might have lost them (which gives you a mini heart attack because your own house is on the other side of the city), but he ends up recovering them from his pockets and he hands it to you.
As soon as you enter, you direct him to the bedroom and he sits down on the bed. You turn to the wardrobe to find him something more comfortable to sleep in, but tense up when you hear a faint, pained voice.
"[Name], I think I'll-"
But you're already on it, rushing to the bathroom to grab a bucket. Luckily, you make it back just in time to rescue the carpet from suffering the consequences of Kaeya's reckless drinking.
To be completly honest, he did take you by surprise. Everyone knew Kaeya was a fan of wine, but he had always known his limits. He appreaciated good wind and was skilled in using it as an intel gathering tool, but he never striked you as the kind of person to go overboard like this.
After he's done throwing up, you pick up the bucket. "I'll go empty this and bring it back, in case you need it again."
"Look at me, troubling you like this." he says, shame evident in his face.
"Don't worry about it. Remember when I challenged Eula to that endurance test in that Dragonspine lake? And I lost? And I was sick for a week? Who took care of me then? You did." You smile. "There's no point in having a partener if you can't rely on them in times like this."
By the time you return with the clean bucket, Kaeya had already changed into proper clothing for sleep and was back to sitting on the bed, staring blankly right in front of him.
You put the bucket down and kneel right in front of him. You take his hands in yours, look into his eyes and smile.
"Hey...It's fine. I promise I won't tease you about it. Tomorrow you can go back to being yourself without fearing my revenge. I swear on my honor as a knight."
Kaeya remains unresponsive to your attempt to lighten the situation. He pulls his hands out of your grasp and gets off the bed. Sitting on the carpet next to you. He cups your face, bringing it closer to his, and you try to repress the heat making it's way to your cheeks.
"Please," he speaks up, and the next time he talks, you hear a voice crack. "Don't leave me."
"I was planning on staying the night here anyways, don't think you were getting rid of me." you try again, but when his expression doesn't change, you turn your own serious, and reach to touch his cheek.
"Kaeya. My love, what's wrong?"
At the sound of your voice, he breaks into tears. "You don't know, [Name], you don't know who, what I am. I'm nothing but a sinner and I," he looks into your eyes, with a desperation that shakes your entire being. "I can't go a day without thinking, without fearing that you'll-"
"No. No, no, no." You shake your head, and pull him into a tight embrace. You knew he had secrets, and a broken past, and there were things that he didn't tell you yet, but you understood how some things were too painful to reveal just yet. And in this moment, seeing this man, this usual charismatic and charming man, adored by so many people, crumble in front of you? All you could think about is how much you wanted to protect him, and how it didn't matter, nothing mattered, except for him.
"I love you, you understand that? You're my entire world Kaeya, and I won't let anything take me away from you. I'll fight for you, and there's nothing you could do that would make me stop loving you, nothing that I wouldn't forgive." You felt your own eyes tearing up, while Kaeya was sobbing into your shoulder, holding tightly to your form. You wondered how he managed to keep this all inside for this long. You pulled away.
"Listen to me. Please, if you have to face these thoughts, these doubts. Come to me, alright? I'll tell you, I'll tell you how much I love you, again and again, however many times you need to hear it. I won't abandon you."
Kaeya tried to smile, in spite of the tears running down his face.
"I don't know what kind of good I did, for the blessing of having you to come into this life of mine. After everything I...I didn't expect for such a bright sun to shine down on me."

You couldn't help but be mesmerized by the sight as if the world was in perfect harmony.
You looked down at your hand, noticing the engagement ring that sparkled in the fading light. It was a symbol of your and Kaeya's love, the bond between you both that sealed your fate together. You remembered how it all began, how you had always seen Kaeya around the city as the Captain of the Cavalry, but you never thought you would find yourself falling for him. Once you started talking, you were captivated by his charm, his winning grin, and his smooth talking that made your heart race.

Diluc, who had been behind the bar, makes his way around and joins the conversation with a smile, " It's great to see you both. What can I get for you?"
Without hesitation, Kaeya pulls out a stool for you, and you take a seat, while he takes the one next to you. As soon as you are settled, Kaeya drapes an arm over your shoulders, pulling you close to him.
But as the night went on and the drinks kept flowing, you could tell that Kaeya was starting to lose his inhibitions. His movements became sloppy and his words slurred. You knew that it was time to take him home before things got out of hand. Rosaria, on the other hand, found this to be a laughable situation, while Diluc looked at him with concern and slight disappointment.
After saying goodbye to everyone left at the tavern, you took Kaeya by the arm and helped him to his feet. He leaned heavily against you, chuckling softly as you guided him out of the tavern. The cool air outside helped to clear your head from the haze of alcohol, but Kaeya had had a little too much to drink. He was clinging onto you tightly as if he couldn't bear to let you go for even a moment.
"Are you okay to walk?" you asked, looking up at him with concern.
He nodded, grinning down at you. "I'm fine, just a little tipsy. But I couldn't be happier, my love."

the streets of the city were bustling, this time of the year was always busy. it was breaching the season of christmas, so everyoneâs days were slowly getting busier and busier. whether it be busy with work, christmas shopping, or other unknown tasks, everyone found a way to be busy.
you, however, were currently on your way home early to surprise your boyfriend for his birthday.
youâd been away on a business trip for roughly three months now, and wasnât supposed to return until right before christmas. this meant you would miss kaeyaâs birthdayâ which you could never do to him. after some nonstop nagging your boss they reluctantly agreed to allow you to cut the trip early and finish the rest at home.
kaeya had no clue you were back in town. last he knew you were on your way to a big business conference and couldnât talk for awhile, when in reality you were boarding your flight back home. after an agonizingly long six hour flight, you landed and found your way to the taxi outside.
thanks to a few mutual friends you got ahold of kaeyaâs schedule for the day, so you knew how to plan things perfectly. you were going to do your best to avoid the apartment just in case he happened to stop by. if all goes according to plan, in a few hours you two will be reunited and celebrating his birthday together.

you spent the next three hours running all around the city, going from shop to shop for items. you bought a whole miscellaneous of items. the cake, obligatory fancy wine, a new watch to complete his set, some cologne, anything and everything that kaeya loved you managed to grab. time was flying by, and before you knew it you were rushing home to set up the apartment.
the apartment was thankfully empty when you arrived, just like you had planned. everything had been going according to schedule, so you had at least an hour to get everything laid out.
you started with the kitchen, placing the cake down in the center of the counter island. grabbing two glasses of wine out of the cabinets above, you filled them up and set them opposite of each other. you left the bottle out, figuring that one glass would not be enough for either of you.
next, you moved onto the living room. you unpacked all of the little trinkets and gifts you had bought your beloved, quickly and neatly wrapping them and placing them on the coffee table. by the time you were done it almost looked like christmas in there.
and at last, you moved onto the bedroom. you wanted to let kaeya end the day off with something relaxing, so whatâs better than spending some time in the bedroom? you quickly made up the sheets, tucking them in and straightening them so they were all neat. next, you lit some candles on your nightstands to give the room an aroma. you went with a fall spice scentâ awhile back kaeya mentioned that smell was his one of his favorites. your memory with that type of stuff was finally coming in handy today.
once you fixed up any last-minute preparations, you changed into another set of clothes. just on queue, you heard the door click as the clock chimed at six-oâclock. you casually made your way down the hallway, hoping this scenario would play out like youâd rehearsed in your head a million times.
when kaeya saw you standing in front of him, he stopped immediately. at first he did a double take, not thinking it was real. heâd been sleeping lessâ it was probably a hallucination. however, when he watched you walk towards him and cup his face in your hands, he knew it wasnât a hallucination.
your lover wrapped his arms around your waist firmly, pulling you in for a deep kiss. it caught you off guardâ although you shouldâve expected a reaction like this. after being without each other for so long itâs no surprise that both of you were on the needy side.
your bodies melted against each otherâs, lips moving in sync. somehow you ended up with your back against the wall, arms wrapped around his neck. kaeyaâs knee slid between your legs, resting there as he took over the kiss. he would gently bite down on your bottom lip ever so often, electing a gasp out of you. testing the waters a little, he ran his tongue over your bottom lip too. you caught on and slid your tongue into the kiss too, heating up the atmosphere even more. now your tongues were brushing against each other ever so often, making the kiss a little messy at this point. messy didnât matter right now, though. he tasted like peppermint and sweets, and his lips felt like heaven. thatâs all that mattered.
âwhat are you doing here?â kaeya asked breathless as he pulled away from the kiss. his forehead rested against yours as you both tried to catch your breath.
âi wanted to surprise you for your birthday,â you let out a shaky laugh as you tried to regain your composure. your head was spinning right now, and your body felt like it was on fire. âi convinced my boss to let me do the rest of the trip from home. iâm here now.â
kaeya was at a loss for words. heâd been dreading his birthday for months because heâd been thinking he was going to spend it alone. he was never a fan of his birthday, but spending it without the love of his life was an even more miserable thought. however, here you were standing in front of him.

Kaeya doesnât always head to the taverns at night in order to indulge himself in alcohol. In fact, the bar is more of a social thing for him than it is a drinking thing itself. He goes to sit and chat with Rosaria, âto listen as she gossips and complains about the âuptightâ lifestyle sheâs forced to portray herself as living during the day. Sometimes, she even lends Kaeya an ear to complain about the more boring aspects of his job: paperwork, small cleanups, and otherwise uneventful happenings that he wouldnât want to bore anyone else with.
He goes to sit before Diluc, ordering drinks from the young man he was once closer to than anyone else. Even now, a part of Kaeya wonders if thatâs still true. After all, itâs no secret that Diluc has largely caged himself away from the rest of the city. The redhead has crawled inside himself, his walls are high, and chances are that Kaeya still knows him better than he knows himself sometimes. Even so, the gap between them is undeniable now, as much as Kaeya likes to sit and joke in the Angelâs Share as Diluc blankly mixes drinks behind the counter. They arenât the boys they used to be, and sometimes, Kaeya wants to forget about that; so he goes and he sits at the bar. He orders drinks and makes snide comments, and tries to rile Diluc up (to no avail.) Itâs like putting a bandage over a surgical wound, âbut Diluc is the closest thing Kaeya has to family, and even if it means forcing the bond, he wonât let the elder male slip away completely.
Venti also frequents the taverns, playing drunken tunes and singing less than sober melodies as he throws back dandelion wine with reckless abandon. Sometimes, Kaeya just sits there, watching as the boy who looks far too young to even be drinking in the first place knocks back drink after drink, as if his very life is dependent on how much he can guzzle down in a single night. Where Venti is over-indulgent in every sense of the word; Kaeya is surprisingly tame. At least, for the most part, anyway. . .
Though heâs been known to get plastered from time to time, those nights are few and far between, especially as heâs taken on more responsibilities as the Cavalry Captain and has gotten older, and at least somewhat wiser.
It sounds bad, even when he thinks it only to himself, âbut there are times when Kaeya watches Venti and thanks his lucky star heâs not standing in the lowly bardâs shoes. The drunken smile he wears never seems to reach his eyes, and though he grins and dances about, the bitter truth hidden just beneath the surface is that Venti isnât happy at all. And Kaeya knows that, if only passively.
But Kaeya, âhe is happy.
At least, heâs pretty certain that heâs happy, anyway.
Heâs got Diluc, although their relationship is marred with guilt and unspoken truths. Heâs got a stable job, although it takes quite a bit out of him sometimes and even plays into the bitter parts of his personality from time to time. He doesnât go hungry unless he does it to himself, forgetting to eat amongst a dayâs work, he has a nice, warm bed to sleep in each night, âand Kaeya is loved, valued, and respected by many of Mondstadtâs citizens and visitors alike.
Ah, and lest he forget: he has you.
âWould you like some?â He offers, tilting the bottle of wine grasped tightly in his fist by the neck from side to side.
You can hear the liquid inside slosh about.
âUh,â you hesitate, but only for a moment, ââsure, why not? It couldnât hurt.â
Kaeya nods, quickly pouring you a small glass. You donât often drink with him for a plethora of reasons, but when he drinks at home, he tends to sip slower and savor the flavor more. While his tolerance for alcohol has become quite high over the years, yours pales in comparison. You can hold it down well enough, but your limit is much lower than his own, and the terrain with Kaeya is easier to navigate when youâre not woozy and hazed out.
As the rim of the glass ghosts against your lips, you take a tiny drink before placing it down on the table. Your loverâs sip is longer, taking in more at once, then quickly going in for another.
âI was surprised you said yes,â he admits. âYou usually donât take up my offers to drink together.â
âI say yes sometimes,â you give him a coy smile, ââlike tonight.â
He returns your expression with an amused smirk. Kaeya really is a handsome man, and everything about him screams it. From the way his wrist swivels ever so gently with his glass resting along his palm and in between his long, lithe fingers, to the way he charmingly tilts his head a little and raises his eyebrows in soft, barely-there non verbals.Â
âIâm glad,â he admits, almosting sighing the words in relief.
âOh?â Falls from your lips curiously before you have the chance to filter it.
He hums in acknowledgement, taking another sip of wine.
âIâve been feeling a little sentimental today,â Kaeya tells you, âand I was hoping someone could lend me an ear for a bit. Preferably you.â
âYou could have just said that from the start,â you reply, reaching across the wooden table to play with his free handâs fingers absentmindedly. âIâd have listened whether you poured me a drink or not.â
Of course, Kaeya already knew that much. Even so, heâs always found that alcohol helps him to open himself up to others a bit more, and while the health level of that particular aspect is at least somewhat dubious, heâs yet to find a solid replacement. Thus, he has wine, and is now slightly more prepared to have this conversation; whatever it is to become.
âWhatâs on your mind, Kaeya?â
Heâs so glad you asked.
âWell, the truth is that I've been thinking a lot recently,â he says.
When he doesnât continue, you speak up again to encourage him to go on.
âAbout?â
âAh, well. . . Lots of things,â he notes. âYou, more often than not.â
Your heart skips a little beat at his admission. Loving Kaeya is no easy task, but itâs worth it. Itâs always been worth it, as it were.
âGood things, Iâm hoping?â You joke.
It lands just right with your lover, and his one visible eye all but glimmers like Noctilucous Jade in dazzling moonlight as a small smile plays on his kissable lips.
âGreat things,â he says playfully. âEven right now, itâs moments like these that make me stop to think that Iâm not really sure I deserve any of this.â
That takes you aback, âbut only slightly. Although Kaeya is very good at masking his feelings, stuffing all of his insecurities and worries down in lieu of that cocky, confident facade he shows the world, youâve come to understand the young knight on a deeper level. The surface is one thing, but Kaeya holds sentiments and emotions deep enough to drown in. And sometimes he does just that.
You suppose tonight is one of those nights.
âWhen I sit in front of you like this, I think about all the nights Iâve left you waiting up for me, and all the times when I asked for a raincheck on a date that never happened at all. I think about all the promises Iâve broken that Iâve probably never apologized for, and all the times Iâve broken your heart just for you to trust me with it again.â
That. . . Was a sharp turn.
You bring the wine glass to your lips again, taking a slow, savoring taste of the bitter liquid inside. Kaeya watches tentatively as you swallow, as your lips form to the rim and then release it so delicately.
âDid you mean to?â You question calmly.
His brows furrowed together in confusion.
âDid I mean to what?â He asks in return.
âLeave me waiting up. Miss a few dates out of the dozens weâve had by now. Forget to say Iâm sorry when youâre trying to make things better another way, âbreak my heart a few times over the years as if that isnât almost inevitable with something like this. Did you do it on purpose?â
âNo,â Kaeya shakes his head, âof course not.â
âWell, then thatâs that,â you shrug. âI wonât tell you to stop sulking about this if itâs something you need to do for the night, âbut donât forget that Iâm not here with you because I need you. Iâm here because I want to be. And I want that because I love you, and you might not be perfect, but Iâm not either, and if youâre keen on taking some advice from me tonight, I think you should stop holding yourself to a standard you wouldnât even hold me to.â
He pauses, as if taking the time to let your words sink in, before he starts laughing. It comes straight from his chest, the one you rest your head on at night as his arms snake around you to hold you close to him.
âI love you too,â Kaeya confirms through a snicker, âso much.â
âI know,â you reassure him softly.
Somehow, that little conversation was really all it took to ease him down. Itâs easy to forget that even people like Kaeya, who are so seemingly confident and self-assured, can feel inadequate at times and beat themselves up for every little mistake theyâve ever made.
If being with him has taught you anything at all, itâs that soulmates arenât just destined by the stars that hang brightly in the sky above. Soulmates are maintained, like flowers in a garden that have to be tended to and given the proper conditions to not only survive, âbut to thrive. Love isnât a one-way street, or even a two-way street. Itâs a network of roads that intersect and branch off. Sometimes thereâs dead ends or rocky stretches of land, but the truth remains with each step you take in any direction: Kaeya loves you, and you love him. And if itâs not written in the stars, then youâll just have to carve it right into the core of Teyvat itself.

golden rays of morning sun shined through the windows, illuminating the bedroom. the sun felt warm against your face. getting annoyed of the bright light your eyelids were trying to shut out, you rolled over to your other side with a groan. as you rolled over you were met with the warmth of your loverâs chest, the bare skin that youâve rested your head against countless of nights and mornings.
âgood morning sleepyhead,â kaeya let out a chuckle as he watched you nuzzle your head into his chest.
âwhat time is it?â you mumbled, the vibrations of your voice sending small tickles across kaeyaâs chest. he had to hold back a laughter from the sensation.
ânine in the morning,â he hummed, bringing his hand up to run fingers through your hair.
the two of you had taken the day offâ it had been a long week at work for both of you and a break was long overdue. kaeya was highly sleep deprived from late nights at work and having to go in early, and youâd just had one too many bad experiences that week. both of your mental health was slipping, so whatâs better than spending a day together as a way to heal?

before you knew it he had returned to bed, pulling you closer so you could rest your head against his chest once again. you were met with his warmth for the second time this morning, and it felt even better than the first. his arms wrapped loosely around your waist, mindlessly drawing small circles into your back. calloused fingers moved gently up and down your skin.
your form slowly melted back into his, getting comfortable once again. with the small rhythmic movements of kaeyaâs fingers, the lack of light, and the feeling of him next to you slowly caused sleep to take over your body once again.
a small smile crept upon kaeyaâs face as he saw you were asleep. you looked so peaceful right now, your face and body relaxed and not tense. he felt happy to see you like this, not the stress ridden mind and body that youâd been the previous day.

Fear courses through you body as the words leave your lovers mouth. Questions build up deep inside your brain, opening your mouth only to close it once again, not sure what to say first.
There before you stood Kaeya Alberich. You had never seen him look so vulnerable as he held his discarded eye patch in his left hand. His eyes were cast to the ground, the left one being the most beautiful sapphire color. The right a deep rich gold, similar to the color of mora.
"What do you mean?" You finally ask, voice timid and small as you try to process what he had just told. Kaeya, the man who protected Mondstadt, the one who always held a bright smile, just told his big dark secret. Something he viewed to be part of his ugly past. The truth behind his heritage.
Normally the information wouldn't have changed anything, but then when he said he was sent as a child to be a spy, the questions began to form. Anger, but not directed at him, bubbling up deep in the pit of your stomach.
Kaeya lifts his head slowly, rubbing the back of his neck and chuckling sheepishly.
"Well this is definitely not the reaction I expected. Are you-"
"Who else knows?"
You cut him off before he can continue. He blinks at you once, twice, before sighing and hanging his head once again. He clicks his tongue before sitting down on the edge of your shared bed.
"Why does it matter?" He questions, tilting his head. You finally look at him properly, admiring him. Kaeya had always been handsome, some would say even beautiful. His dark blue locks hang gently over his shoulders.
You flick your gaze over his face before finally settling on his newly exposed eye. There was a light scar running over the dark skin there, and you refrain from reaching out and caressing it, opting to simply walk over and place yourself next to him.
"Kae, I need to know who else knows." You say gently, taking his gloved hand in yours. It's at that moment you realize he's shaking slightly. He sharply exhales out his nose, before closing his eyes.
"Diluc is the only other one." He says softly, squeezing your hand before continuing.
"He found out the night I got my Vision. The same night my whole life went to shit."
It was then that Kaeya tells you the story of how his own biological father had left him at the dawn winery, his last words being "you are our only hope.". As Kaeya continued to talk, you started to feel more protective towards the man sitting next to you.
As he finishes he goes quiet, waiting for your response, waiting for you to react in a similar way to his brother. Expecting you to run to acting grand master Jean and tell her about his dark secrets.
"Oh Kaeya." You whisper before wrapping your arms gently around him, hiding his face in the crook of your neck. He stiffens at the contact, eyes widening as you pull away.
"Thank you for telling me. I can't imagine what it's been like for you, but I want you to know I will always be here for you."
You gently cup his face with your warm hands, staring deep into his mismatched eyes. He searches your face for a sign that you're not telling the truth, that as soon has he falls asleep you'll run away in fear.
But he finds none. The only emotions he sees written on your face are love, and compassion. The raw emotion pulls at his heart strings and makes tears well up in his beautiful orbs.
Pulling your body closer to his Kaeya let's out a sigh, feeling the weight of the world being lifted off his shoulders. You card your hands gently through his hair, feeling the man in your arms take deep breaths.
"Thank you. Thank you so much." He mumbles into your shoulder, nuzzling deeper into your warmth. He kisses the skin of your neck softly, feeling as if words are not enough.
You rub your hands gently over his back, whispering reassuring words into his ear. His words of how Diluc had reactied ring in your ear, and once again a surge of protectiveness courses through your body.
For now you push it away though, for all that matters now it Kaeya laying his head on your shoulder. You pull away from him, staring into his beautiful eyes again. Without warning, you press your lips onto his.
Kaeya responds almost immediately, grabbing your cheeks gently, before caressing them with his thumbs. Love is the only thing driving this kiss, and once again, Kaeya wants to cry.
Kaeya never thought he truly had a home. Felt as though he could never belong in the City of Freedom. But here in your arms, he likes to think he has finally found one with you.

Hey there, Val! <3 Thank you so much for your request, this really was the perfect prompt for Kaeya. I got the initial idea during the weinlesefest event and figured it goes well with the prompt. I apologize if this is all over the place though... I'm struggling with writer's block at the moment but I really wanted to get this one done. On my own â Kaeya x gn!reader (hurt/comfort)
As soon as Kaeya returned home that day, you knew that something was wrong. Although he tried his best to put on his usual gleeful smile when he greeted you, you easily realized that it was nothing but a mere act to hide the fact that something had upset him. You could tell from the way he carefully avoided your gaze, almost as if he feared that youâd be able to read his thoughts if you looked at him for too long.
You frowned. It wasnât a secret that Kaeya liked to keep his struggles to himself, that he always tried to sort things out for himself, no matter how awful it made him feel. And you hated it â you hated that he probably felt like he had to go through all of this on his own. But what you hated even more was the fact that there really was nothing you could do to help him.
âRough day?â you asked softly. Maybe he would tell you what was bothering him, just this one time. But instead, he just shrugged, flashing another smile at you that was as fake as Nimrodâs promise not to get drunk again. âIâm fine.â
If someone had asked him why he kept lying to you, Kaeya wouldnât have known the answer. It wasnât like he enjoyed being dishonest â it hurt him so much to lie to your face, to pretend that everything was fine when it wasnât, and he knew you well enough to realize that his dishonesty hurt you too. (It would be foolish to believe that you didnât notice how he always avoided your questions. And Kaeya wasnât foolish.) Heck, maybe it would have even helped to talk about the things that kept him awake at night recently but whenever he thought he had gathered the courage to do just that, he suddenly couldnât find the right words â and in the end, he always remained silent.
It was stupid, really, to think that he still had to deal with everything on his own while you were right there in front of him, ready to listen to him, to comfort him when he needed it. There was no doubt that you would do everything in your power to help him â if only he could bring himself to finally talk to you, to tell you that recently, he had been thinking about his father and his childhood at Dawn Winery a lot. That he sometimes wondered what would have been if his father hadnât left him there.
How could he, though? How could he tell you all of that without making it sound like he wasnât happy with his life right now? Like he wasnât happy with you by his side?
âIâm fine,â Kaeya repeated slowly but even he realized how fake he sounded. And judging by the way you were looking at him, your eyebrows slightly raised, your pretty eyes full of concern, you noticed it too. He tried to crack another smile. âI really am.â
âItâs not going to sound more convincing if you just repeat it often enough,â you told him, the tone of your voice still so gentle that he almost caved in. But no. You already had things on your plate â you shouldnât have to deal with his problems, too. So, he just pressed his lips together and shook his head, pushing you away once again.
With a deep sigh, you plopped down on the sofa and reached out for the Cavalry Captain, inviting Kaeya to sit with you. It took him a few seconds but then, he hesitatingly sat down next to you, back straight and hands curled into fists.
âHey,â you said softly. âItâs fine if you donât want to talk. And I understand that there are things that you donât want to tell me. Itâs just⊠it hurts me to see you like this. It makes me feel so helpless.â You paused and shook your head. âWhat Iâm trying to say is, please let me be there for you. I know you want to deal with everything on your own but â the thing is, you donât have to. Iâm right here.â
For a while, Kaeya didnât reply anything, and the room went completely silent. Through the opened window, you could hear the distant chatter of passersby as well as the jolly chirping of birds.
Then, as you almost started to believe that he wouldnât react to your little speech in any way, you felt him leaning against you, resting his head on your shoulder. âIâm sorry.â
You kissed the top of his head and wrapped your arms around him. âNonsense. Thereâs nothing you have to apologize for.â
âBut you were worried about me. I never wanted that.â
âShh. Itâs okay.â
With a shaky exhale, Kaeya buried his face in the crook of your neck. He still wasnât ready to talk about his father or the constant thoughts of âWhat ifâŠâ that occupied his mind recently, and maybe he would never be, but for now, he allowed himself to push these worries aside as he melted into your embrace, indulging in the certainty that you were there by his side, no matter what would happen in the future.

hey yâall, ik itâs been awhile and once again iâm sorry for randomly disappearing. september is a rlly bad month for me mentally and iâve been dealing w some more health issues so between the two i just cannot find the motivation to write đ„Č with halloween coming up hopefully iâll be able to throw in some stuff for that tho. hopefully i can get back to writing soon again
'Kaeya would totally cheat on you and constantly sleep around with other people' is like. The shallowest take ever. Like come on there's a lot of other ways you can angst. Dude has abandonment issues galore with his birth family abandoning him and the adopted family either dying or trying to kill him because he told them about his backstory at the wrong time. Do you really think that this fucker, once opening his heart out to you, would constantly betray your trust. Dude wouldn't even do anything that could lead to you leaving him/trying to kill him. Dude would rather die a million times over then think of betraying the trust of a person who actively puts their trust into him,,,,
