Catholicism in Anime

This blog started out as a way to provide an easy place to record and catalogue the note-taking and assignments I'm doing for my research paper titled "The Appropriation of Catholicism in Anime and its Effect on its Western Audience." It was advised by my professor, and at the time, I was considering becoming a film studies' professor who would have anime studies as a specialty. It's not really working in that direction right now, but this is still a subject that is interesting to me.

This is just personal stuff, but I’ve been very frustrated with myself over not majoring in Religious Studies when I was in college. I keep thinking about whether or not it’s worth it to get a particular Religious Studies degree that potentially could help me with my current job, but it’s something I’d have to take out loans for, and I’ve never done that before. 

My Catholicism in Anime paper was about religion, why did it not occur to me to major in Religious Studies instead of Theatre with a Film and Media Studies minor? What was wrong with me? Why am I so stupid? 

I’m probably not suited for further academia, though.... I never really figured out how to write a good research paper that could be presented in places. My first and last panel hadn’t gone well. I didn’t know enough to matter to academics. My interests didn’t align with other anime fans who were just wanting to enjoy their shows.... I don’t even know if it would have improved my life any, except I feel so stuck and trapped and . . . Religion, including religious discrimination, has followed me throughout my entire life. Why did it not occur to me to delve deeper? Why has it taken over ten years to realize what I should have done? 

Stupid, stupid, stupid.....
