True romanitas is not blind submission to absolute decisions by the highest authority, it is fidelity to its constant teaching, which is apostolic because it is linked to the teaching of the Apostles. The Magisterium of today has genuine authority insofar as it is in line with that perennial teaching. Of course, normally this continuity must be presupposed, but in times of crisis, such as in the days of the Arian heresy, continuity of doctrine is itself the criterion for the truth thereof.

When did you first realize that something wasn't right? It seems like even with people who developed SZ later in life, they knew something was wrong early in their lives. Did you?

Absolutely.  I knew something was wrong with me even in kindergarten, but I had no idea what.  I had trouble integrating with other children, and they saw something wrong with me too and avoided me.  I was diagnosed with ADD in 4th grade (around 1990) and everyone sort of assumed that the depression and anxiety I was suffering was a part of that, but even on medication it never really went away.  Like I’d come home crying, scared of my teachers and upset that I didn’t have any friends almost every fucking day.  I didn’t have auditory hallucinations in the same way that I do now, but I’d have music get ‘stuck in my head’ to the point of it being distressing and uncomfortable, waking up to it, going to sleep to it, sometimes music I felt like I’d never heard before, or nonsense-music.  I’d wake up hearing my name shouted in my ear without anyone being there, and in my child-head I thought it was ghosts trying to get my attention.
