The ball started rolling when Rome was founded we could live in tiny communities in the forest and live from hunting and sheep herding, but we had to bite into the bait of urbanism and do the devil's bidding.
I hate to tell you this but even if Rome never existed "barbarian" Europe would have urbanized. Hell even by Caesar's time the Gauls were already urbanizing quite well. Maybe if Caesar hadn't tried to genocide them they could have formed a powerful nation. While Rome was still a tiny village the Gauls, Iberians and countless other now long extinct tribal societies got wealthy through trade with the Greeks, Carthaginians and Etruscan. Its almost like tribalism is destined to give way to more advanced ways of living.

Except that the evacuation order has been lifted and the residents have been told it’s safe to go back home and that the water is safe to drink and there is no waterway contamination. But they’re seeing this in their waterways and people are smelling strong fumes even inside their homes. The evidence is right in front of their eyes in their own homes that the EPA is not correct.
Is this the EPA being wrong is it this outdated or fabricated "evidence" being circulated?
I'm not saying that you should treat every word the EPA says as gospel but you should treat internet randos with at least as much doubt as an official institution.

I think the first article finally has someone directly addressing a video and I presume its this video. Apparently that was from a creek very near the crash site, and as a result that portion of the creek was dammed off and diverted clean water away from it.
And that would be quite effective if the contaminants were on the surface of the water. The bigger problem to my mind is that these chemicals seem to be on the creek bed, which means they are may seep through the soil down into groundwater sources. A dam may not even be able to prevent the contaminates from seeping around or under it and being carried downstream. I don’t know what, if anything, can be done to prevent that or what effect these chemicals will have long term. But I do know that we need to be praying for the situation.
According to these fact checkers (https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2023/02/16/east-palestine-ohio-train-derailment-fact-check/11263859002/) a low concentration of butyl acetate has made its way into the Ohio river, but at a low enough concentration that it isn't a concern to public health thanks to water treatment facilities and the fact that contaminants become less concentrated the further downstream it gets.
But on your last comment, I think that people calling this incident the Chernobyl of Ohio are over blowing it. Take, for example, the clean up of the Hudson river which involved a try herculean effort of hauling up the contaminated sediments of the river, which continues to this day. For example in the initial clean up efforts in 1978-9 140,000 cubic meters of sediment were removed. And this was a consequence of decades of irresponsible waste disposal.
In comparison this waste disaster is nothing. 20 cars were carrying chemically hazardous material, the water treatment plant I used to frequently pass by in Brooklyn probably process that much chemical waste every few days.
Its good of you to pray for them regardless of that fact. East Palestine might be safe to live in but there's still work to be done.

The report in question says that an exposure 100,000-400,000 ppm of Vinyl Chloride can be lethal to mice over the course of half an hour. It also cites that 500 ppm can be lethal to gestating mice when exposed for the course of 10 days.
The report doesn't speculate on PPM lethality for humans (how would you even get those numbers) and bear in mind that a human weighs several orders of magnitude more than a mouse.

Some people keep blaming Trump for the ohio train crash because of rail safety deregulations he signed. What’s up with that?
It's bullshit. The deregulation was specifically for trains that are carrying oil, which the Ohio train wasn't. And it was specifically about brakes. The Ohio train derailed because of a broken axle. So even if the train was affected by the order, it still wouldn't matter because the brakes had nothing to do with the derailment.
(I also saw something that said the order in question never went through? But I'm not sure about that and I don't feel like wading through media lies to try and find the one article actually telling the truth about this)
