Random Catholic Things I Really Love

OBVIOUSLY the Mass, The Blessed Sacrament, Adoration, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the entire Catholic Church, etc. BUT AFTER THOSE THINGS:

The Pieta. Anything to do with Mary holding the body of Jesus after He was removed from the Cross.

The Descent of the Holy Spirit. Come, Holy Spirit. Fill the hearts of our faith and enkindle in them the fire of Your Love.

The Hidden Presence of Jesus. The Blessed Sacrament inside the Tabernacle. Just because He's not exposed doesn't mean He's not present. (Also just in daily life: just because He's "hidden", doesn't mean He's not still present). Also, for some reason, I really love the red sanctuary lamp in front of the Tabernacle, lit to let us know Jesus is present inside the Tabernacle. For me, it's a visual sign of the Hidden Presence of Jesus.

The hymn O Salutaris Hostia: usually sung at the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at the beginning of Adoration. I just love it so much. Especially Matt Maher's version (it's on Hallow); his version helped get me through a hard time in spring of 2023.

St Gianna Beretta Molla. She laid down her life for her child in her womb and I love her so much. She's my confirmation saint and I ask for her intercession constantly.

The Visitation. There was SO much joy in Mary and Elizabeth when they reunited. It really makes ME so joyful (but of course, that's the point of the Joyful Mysteries).

In Persona Christi- In The Person Of Christ. I LOVE that priests act in the place of Christ when it comes to the Sacraments.

Prophecies in Psalms, Proverbs, Isaiah, etc, that Jesus in the New Testament fulfilled. 😭👌

How does my abortion affect you in anyway?

I know this might sound shocking, but I’m not against abortion for my own sake. Abortion is a severe human rights violation. It is murder. I think people need to take a stand against those things even if they aren’t directly affected by them.

I have the capacity to care about people other than myself and I care when others are murdered, abused and mistreated. And people who can’t speak for themselves need someone to speak for them.

I care about children who are being brutally murdered for the crime of existing while unwanted by the woman carrying them.

To answer your question though, about how your abortion affects me in any way, I don’t know. We will never know who the person you stole from this world and robbed of life would have become. We will never know what kind of impact your child would have had on the world and whose lives they would have touched because you didn’t give them a chance.

You can't feel like a sex because they're not emotions or sensations. It's just a state of being. You're just uncomfortable and unhappy with gender roles forced unto you.

I can assure you most people, especially women, aren't happy with these roles either.

Not feeling "feminine" or not subscribing to sexist gender roles doesn't make you not a woman.

Same how not feeling "masculine" or "manly" doesn't mean that you're not a man.

it’s funny how we’re getting to the point in the AI lifespan where you can feel the desperation from tech companies to have you use their AI features. instagram has moved their AI effects to the top of the menu when you’re creating a post for your story, exactly where the draw/edit button used to be. gmail is creating one-click AI-generated replies right before you open up the text box. spotify put a beta AI playlist generator on the front page that looks just like a search bar so all of their users accidentally click on it when they go to search for a song.

tech companies are shaking in their boots trying to prove to shareholders that their investment in AI is worth it, to the point where they’re tricking their users into using the AI features even for a split second in order to fudge the numbers. like awww is your little environment-destroying toy not wielding the results you hoped for? so sad!
