Our discourse around talking about women (as in known women, celebrities, influencers, youtubers), who clearly have anorexia or some other kind of eating disorder is so fucked. Like they're exhibiting that in public and showing off their obviously unwell status and we need to point out that this is deeply fucked up and dangerous. I'm not saying go to anyone's face and say mean things about her body personally but pointing out when someone with a platform is engaging in deeply dangerous behaviour is not body shaming nor is it wrong. We cannot have honest conversations about eating disorders or misogynistic beauty standards if we cannot talk about what we're seeing right in front of our faces.

Thank you! This woman has extremely young girls looking up to her thanks to being hired in Wicked, her clear eating disorder spread to the rest of the female cast, she demanded to wear low cut dresses that showed off her bones which she then bedazzled, is constantly angling her body and full on grabbing her collar bone and looks proud about it, deliberately acts and looks as childlike as possible while also singing “sexy” songs, is almost fainting and can barely move on stage because she’s so emaciated, is obviously lipsynching now because her voice is so diminished and we’re all supposed to act like this is normal or even desirable. She’s so far gone she’s likely not coming back from this and we shouldn’t be cheering on or encouraging it.

She’s not some random person. She’s a rich, influential celebrity who has all the money and resources to get help but she’s choosing to kill herself in the public eye while men drool at how prepubescent she and other female celebrities are looking and women/girls think this is how we should all look. Fuck that noise.

Butcher's death in the show is incredibly emotional but not very well written, At least not as good as Homelander or A-train

In the comics, The writing committed hard to Butcher being a villain, Ryan doesn't exist and Terror doesn't sinply die a peaceful death from old age, The build up for his villain arc was very well done

In the show, Butcher has the perfect setup for a villain arc with the S4 finale but they never commit to it, He was extremely chill in S5 and only switched at the very end which brings me to the 2 main issues

1 Ryan was completely sidelined in S5, He simply doesn't show up enough to be determining factor in Butcher's morality as the only interaction we see between them this season is Butcher asking him to die

2 Terror dies a peaceful death not killed by supes

These 2 things aren't even connected to supes, Them being what triggers Butcher into genocide mode again doesn't work

The villain arc worked in the comics, It could've worked in the show if they COMMITTED to it but they kept going back and forth

Why is this show so unwilling to confront the idea that supes are bad not because Homelander exists, but because the power they have. There will always be a Homelander. And frankly, going by the show's canon, he isn't close to the worst there could be.

The Boys accomplished nothing. And they didn't even bother addressing the elephant in the room: what do we do about supes?

Can we depower them? Can we stop Vought from creating more supes? How do we prevent Homelander 2.0.

The show started so great, approaching a superhero world from the perspective of the average joe and criticising how other superhero media projects handle supes. No, it isn't good that there are humans who are weapons of mass destruction.

But by the end of the show the writers just see it as a universal truth that having supes is great! Its all great! Just kill the fascist ones, keep an eye on the baddies, and let Vought go on doing whatever it's doing.

It's so boring and exactly the same as every other popular superhero piece of media.

Love when a show that was anti authoritarian and anticapitalist ends on a shitty neoliberal status quo that’s treated as a happy “hopeful” ending 🙄 Butcher was fucking right and you can’t convince me his show counterpart is in any way a villain by the end.

But this is the same asshole that loved the “family ends with blood” finale of Supernatural so I don’t know what I was expecting.
