Mumbo couldn't help himself when he saw the unsolved redstone problem in front of him

Mumbo, aside from being a superhero, is one of the leading redstone engineers and mechanics in his field. He likes to tinker with redstone machines no matter how small or easy it may be. It keeps his hands and mind busy and allows him to relax into something he's actually confident in.

So, when he stumbles into a secret base with one of the G's from e.g.g. stumped on a problem, he can't help but offer his help. He isn't sure why he offered. It was almost like his redstoner mind takes over the rational part of his brain. Or maybe it was the avian man's grumbling as he tried to figure out how to make his trapdoor open.

Whatever it was Mumbo has now found himself completing the trap alongside the deviled egg villain, who has stars in his eyes as he watches Mumbo work. So many stars, that Mumbo isn't sure if the man's power is activated or if the ceiling lights are just shining so badly in his eyes they're being reflected back at Mumbo.

When he asks about glint in the other man's eyes he's surprised. Not just that the villain would answer him with a joke, but that he's smiling- laughing even- to the joke.

Mumbo's shocked when he sees the villain again, staring at him with those big dark eyes full of stars again. Does he know? Is that why he was silently watching Mumbo? Was he gathering intel on the enemy?

Instead, Mumbo was being invited back to the villain's base! He went, to collect more information for the c-team of course. That would be the only reason he'd return to the den.

this will eventually lead both Mumbo and Grian to feel like they're being selfish and that they're guilty for this dynamic. Grian feels as if he's putting Mumbo at risk by becoming close to him like this, and while yes they're already friends, Grian doesn't want Mumbo to be at an even larger risk for knowing his identity. But he's selfish and still wants Mumbo to see this part of himself at least to some degree. Mumbo feels guilty for being friends with someone who is supposed to be an enemy, but he enjoys spending time with the villian, even if it requires him to lie to his new firend, the c team, and the agency he works for.

Grace sends this off as a "fuck you" to Stratt and unintentionally eases 40+ years of horrific guilt.

(40+ factoring in the Hail Mary mission, then the time it would take to get back to Erid and the time it would take for the message to get to Earth. Probably closer to 50+ actually).

(I do think Stratt felt bad. She did a lot of terrible things to save the planet, and obviously felt guilt for sending Grace off. I imagine the time waiting to hear back from the Hail Mary was torture for everyone, but she essentially sent three people off to their deaths, one unwillingly. Hearing that Grace made it out alive would be a huge weight off her shoulders.)

Villain Grian will come to bother civilian Mumbo non-stop. Mumbo doesn't realize the villain is his housemate and Grian doens't know that mumbo is the c-team hero.

Mumbo is one of the greatest redstone engineers that Grian knows so whenever Etho isn't available, or whenever he just wants to bother Mumbo as his super villian alter ego, he gets Mumbo to do his redstone.

Mumbo was alarmed by this at first, thinking that E.G.G. found out his secret identity, but now he's mostly just amused as he gets to see what E.G.G. do in their 'secret' base. A base which is so obviously a base once he knows about it. He also gets to take a bit of mental notes so that the C-team can hopely one day capture E.G.G.

Mumbo was planning to tell the rest of the team about the base when he realized that they would probably storm in headfirst, and since he only knew a few of the traps in there, he didn't want to risk it.

So, for now, it's his secret that he knows where E.G.G.'s base is, his secret that he's made some of their traps, and his secret that he's a bit fond of Grian's alter ego.

*Note- They all have secret identities and only those in their respective teams know each other's. + I haven't decided if I want to bring character's like Poultry man to this or make up some of my own for this story i've created in my head
