This white boy came over a month ago and asked why my pillow was shiny. I told him it was satin, because I need a satin case to maintain my natural hairstyle overnight.

This past weekend I stayed over at his house after a party because it was too late to go back to Manhattan, and when I got in bed I noticed that one of his pillowcases was satin.

I asked him why a white, nearly bald man needed a satin pillowcase and he said he bought it for me, in case I needed to sleep over sometime. He didn’t want me to ruin my hair on cotton.

I kissed the ever-loving shit out of him.

Something that annoys me

It seems I make a lot of these types of posts but I just want to get this off my chest.

It annoys the ever living hell out of me that people make fun of us for liking kpop. I never mention I listen to kpop because of the weird looks I’ll get or comments they make under their breath.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been called a Koreaboo for liking kpop. It’s music—in Korean. The only difference between kpop and pop is the language? Why is that such a big deal?

“How can you listen to music not in English?” Uhh because you don’t have to understand a language to like a song?

“Omg seriously you’re listening to Ching Chong music?” Racist much?

“I could never listen to that shit.” Ahh well it’s good you don’t listen to it then. So can you leave me alone now???

“How can you listen to that? You can’t even understand what they are saying.” And yet you still listen to Despacito— the only difference is that is Spanish and this is korean.

Seriously it’s a genre of music? Why do you get so disgusted / racist the second you see it? Or see me listening to it?

Honestly the best piece of advice I can give to younger girls trying to figure life out is to completely ignore men. I’m not being quirky or cute when I say that, I mean it seriously. Ignore men’s judgments of you, ignore their insincere compliments, ignore their half-assed romance. Focus on developing yourself. Practice your art, play sports, do theater, volunteer, spend time with your friends, but do not put substantial effort into pleasing men. They’ll be there for you to pursue when the time comes and if you want to. But nothing will waste your youth more than fighting for male acceptance.
