Clara: Hey! Not to be weird, but I did write you into my latest short story. It's about the moon and the sun and they think the other are both the villains of their story, but in the end they realize that one can't exist without the other. I was going to publish it online, but I like to credit the inspo before I do so is it alright if I include a personal anecdote about the dance?

So the Coachella feeds and stories and snaps all over social media have me feeling the WORST kind of FOMO. Especially since our own Festival isn’t until September! So! I decided I’m going to throw my own music festival themed party!

Which means it’s going to be like a regular @ pack beach party basically, but instead of a DJ or an iPod or something, the music will be supplied by us! Sort of like a talent show or open mic night mixed with a party but way way cooler! If you want to perform feel free to sign up with Me or any member of LGBT before the end of this week and we’ll think about adding you to the set list!

Oh, sweet! If you aren’t already full up, I can do that really awesome thing where I fill glasses up to a different height and make music on them with spoons. Or that other awesome thing where you fill glass bottles up to different levels and then you blow on them to make chiming noises. Oh! Or I can also play the harmonica.

Bobbie: Initially, I thought he was just running late because like, we always go together, y'know? But when it got too late, even for Flynn, I figured it out and I wasn't going to let him ruin my night, so I went and got my mask from my room and knocked shit over on accident and found letters from Flynn to Iris, one asking her to the dance, and it all literally fell into place in front of me and I didn't mean to confront him there or anything, I meant to just go to the dance to have fun without him and show that I was a bigger person than I apparently, but I was just so mad and hurt and embarrassed, I just lashed out in the first way my brain told me to when I saw him. AS SOON AS I DID IT I IMMEDIATELY FELT BAD FOR ANYBODY ASSOCIATED WITH ME DIRECTLY, I DIDN'T WANT TO SEE ANYBODY IN CASE I EMBARRASSED THEM BECAUSE HOW UNCOUTH! That and I didn't want to explain myself because I was still so upset, I'd've just broken down more than I did, especially with you, lol.

Bobbie: CLARA GRIM, REALLY?! I MISSED THAT ENTIRELY! That's so weird/funny! I don't know, because she and Humbert hated us first? It's been so long, I don't even remember. Because I don't want to be a burden on my friends or family! :( And because I shouldn't have to move just because he and Iris were sneaking around. I should just find someone new, but like, I'm a mess, lol. You're a better person than me, lol. I just dwell in all that I could've possibly done wrong to have someone who says they love/d me, hurt me. I'll be strong like you one day though. :)

Cayo: But I'm so good at knowing where to find toilet paper, so I could have used it to wrap your face in a new tear-catching mask! But that's okay. I'm sorry you had such a crappy night but I'm sure you didn't make anyone else's night crappy! Except maybe Flynn's! You hit hard, I'm always so impressed and like, sure that you should have been a karate kid in another life.

Cayo: Yeah! I'm gonna be friends with her now if she lets me be, so like... if everyone else gets mad will you still like me at least? Well, maybe Molly can move in with you instead and Iris can go live in her house? I can help you meet new people, I like to go hangout and try new stuff all the time. Bobbie: ISN'T IT THOUGH?! Lol. I was blessed with beauty and no grace! Lol. I HAVE BOXING GLOVES, THAT'S THE FUNNIEST PART! I wasn't planning on decking him though. I don't know what I was planning, but that was my first reaction when I saw him, so, lol.

Bobbie: Okay, good! How WAS your night? Did you have fun?! :D Ummm...no. Ex-boyfriend. Which is weird to say because I don't think I've ever actually said that before? It's always just been "We dated."/"We used to date."/"He was my first boyfriend."/"We're not together anymore." but he was always my best friend, so it was never like, ex? Weird. ANYWAYS! Yeah, no, not my boyfriend. Not my friend. It's a long convoluted story, but he betrayed me and my trust and I found out how much the night off the dance and that he's fucking with my roommate Iris and now it's awkward to be at home because because they're together and she's never home now because she's staying with him and I'm afraid I'm going to come home and she's going to be there and it's going to be awkward and I'm going to have another anxiety attack over all of this and yeah, I was upset and hurt and angry and I went to the dance and saw him and like I said, I didn't know what I was planning, but I hit him aND SENIOR YEAR WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THIS, CAYO! Lol.

Cayo: Why did you go at all? Like, did you think he just forgot to pick you up and you'd show up and he'd be waiting for you or something? I'M SO GOOD AT LIKE, SAVING SAD PEOPLE FROM VALENTINE'S DANCES, YOU COULD HAVE COME TO FIND ME INSTEAD OF FLYNN'S FACE!

Cayo: Yeah! I was with Clara Grim, she's cooler than I thought. Why do we hate them again? It's so confusing. Why don't you go move in with Molly? And find a new boyfriend! Or girlfriend. Being sad over one is no fun, you just have to count the days you had them then say bye then meet all the cool new people in the world! That's what I've always done. Going back to the same old one over and over again just gets weird! Fresh starts are awesome. It's a fresh new chance to make somebody happy!

Clara laughed a little at Cayo saying he’d failed kindergarten. “I didn’t have a choice to fail. I was so homeschooled that my punishment for doing poorly on an assignment was having to close my windows,” She related, only half joking. “I love naps! More specifically, I love the part right before you fully fall asleep where you’re half in a dream world and half in the real one. It makes for some epic plot ideas. If you can remember them when you wake up.” She watched him dance for a second before tentatively joining in. “Are your cousins going to get mad if they see us having fun? Should I put on a scowl and cross my arms?” She mimicked her mother, the disapproving look and the terrifying stance, before dancing again a little bolder this time. 

“That’s a bummer! I love open windows -- the sun’s nice and the gives my carpet a bath and the animals that fly in are like new friends, it’s awesome,” Cayo told her, wondering if she meant like... closing the curtains and being stuck in the dark, or if she just meant having to keep the friends from flying in to see her. He didn’t ask, though; he wanted her to have a good night, he always wanted people to have a good night, and he didn’t want to make her talk about sad stuff if she didn’t want to. “Do you have a tape recorder by your bed so you can record your sleepy thoughts? I wish we could get brain recorders, I have some dreams that are better than TV sometimes, I know I do because I wake up super happy, but they’re just... gone! Like they never happened.” Cayo burst out laughing at her grumpy impersonation. “I don’t know! Maybe, but I’m me, I think they’re used to me being nice to everybody,” Cayo confessed, deciding he wanted to try too. He balled his hands up into fists, holding them stiffly at his side and trying to look mad. The way he twisted his face made him sneeze, though, and he looked up sheepishly. “Uh... maybe I can tell them I sneezed your direction on purpose as a super-mean trick.”

Bobbie: TL;DR I punched Flynn in the face at the ball and got a boxer's fracture, so I'm in a brace and my hand hurt, but #worthit. Also, sorry if all that made people look at your weird because your cousin is apparently a crazy person, lol.

If it is any kind of consolation if I did, I got another boxer's fracture, so I'm rockin' my splint for at least another three weeks because karma is undoubtedly a bigger bitch than I am...

Clara was surprised to say the least to have been matched with Cayo for the Valentine’s Ball. Her family and his family of dwarves plus the Whites were basically in a blood feud, she wasn’t supposed to be having a good time…but she kinda was? Cayo loved bouncing around at dances, and he loved getting to know new people -- he just wasn’t sure that his default was supposed to still apply when that new person he was spending time with one on one for the first time was Clara Grim. But when she asked her question, he answered it completely honestly; no one was hovering over him listening to his answers, after all. “Yeah, supposed to! But uh... I guess I’m not super good at doing what I’m supposed to do, that’s why I failed kindergarten,” he admitted, wondering if she even knew that about him. They’d never really taken the time to know more than just who their parents were. “I was super bad at napping so they made me do it twice! And I’m still bad at napping now. And dancing, but at least it’s fun!” he told her, trying some kind of crazy disco move and seeing if she’d follow his lead.

Besides, these matchmakers aren’t meant to be trusted. They matched you with the Princess of Darkness.” Olive rolled her eyes with a smirk, praying that for once Cayo would be not himself and agree with her that Clara didn’t deserve him. “How has your guys’ night been?”

“A stretch would be me touching my toes without hurting myself right now! You being worth rioting over? Totally not a stretch at all -- it could have been Walt’s very first riot ever,” Cayo promised her, his eyes following her hands as she fiddled with her dress. “Your dress is super pretty!” he informed her, adding, “Just like you.” He’d do anything to keep her smiling; she deserved to have a totally awesome night, and even though he had another date that he needed to go back and find soon, he could totally spend a few minutes cheering one of his very favorite people in the world up. Especially when he really did think that she was the prettiest girl in the whole room -- it was easy for the reassurances to fall off her tongue. “And uh... ‘Princess of Darkness’ hasn’t sucked me into a black hole or something, so maybe she’s just like... the princess of greyness or something instead!” he shrugged, although Clara had actually been pretty okay so far. Why were their families fighting again? It made his head hurt a little, so he didn’t dwell on it too long. “Do you wanna come hang out with us? You guys might even like each other, you never know.”

Olive had broken away from her little ‘gal pals’ for some fresh air and a refreshment. The wind seemed to be picking up outside, so she didn’t dare go out there, but she stayed nestled in the corner of the room watching lovers dance and dates awkwardly try to make good impressions. This was so unfair. She looked too good to be someone’s galentine tonight, rather than someone’s arm candy. Sipping her punch, red lips pouted as she scanned the room, before accosting the first body that walked past her and demanding an answer to her question: “Excuse me, do I look date-worthy to you? Because according to the SHAW club, I’m only good enough to be tossed into a salad of unmatchable ‘galentines’ and my ego is already fragile enough.”

Cayo’s whole night had been pretty confusing so far. With Olive back in town, he’d totally wanted to ask her to the dance... until he’d remembered that Vivi had been his date last year and things had kind of sort of gotten weird. It felt like, not okay to sister-swap from year to year like that to him, so he’d decided to leave his date up to fate instead... and fate had given him Clara Grim instead. People had told him that they had like, a blood feud or something his whole life, and while he didn’t really get into that kind of drama, it left him feeling pretty puzzled about how to act, too. Finally, he’d just decided to do a lap around the room, saying hi to anyone he could recognize and even to a few people that he couldn’t.

Olive, though, was someone who he could recognize anywhere, and his smile dimmed some when he realized that she seemed kind of down. “The most matchable! Maybe they just knew you were like, too awesome and all the other people would be jealous of whoever got matched with you and they were trying to stop a riot from happening!” Cayo told her immediately, hoping there was something he could do to cheer her up.
