Funnily enough I’ve had a loooooong-shelved idea along this theme after being inspired by Last Human and the idea of a ‘dark Lister’. Where holo!RimmerasAce comes across a version of himself who is currently serving time for the murder of his crew mates. Indeed, his computer warns him that this version was once Ace too but she retired him due to ‘concerns’.

However, believing him to be innocent and desperate to save himself from further torture, holo!RimmerasAce manages to free his other self from prison. Only to find that he’s guilty after all.

So because of my current… set up I couldn’t try the clean-line animation that I wanted, but I tried to fix up issues where I could. See below under the cut for a more detailed explanation of this process (which also serves as a record for my own future reference so it isn’t really complaining. It is, but it isn’t really. Kind of).

I’ve never actually tried animating lighting and shading like this. I think it came out better than I thought it would.

Originally it was a 32-frame animation, but I fixed the pacing and it became a 49-frame animation.
