If you’ve never heard of Dungeon Fighter Online, then google DFO and go give it a shot. DFO is a dungeon crawling hack and slash that has literally been one of my favorite games for the past seven years. Its classes are unique, its play-style is fun and you get the nostalgia factor with great 2D art and animation. My biggest con with the game however is the end-game farm. The RNG for getting end game equipment can be a turn-off for some. Anyways, go download and try it out!
If you haven’t seen Critical Role, then my friends you are missing out on one of the best narrative journeys I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. Every Thursday at 7 PM PST, a group of nerdy ass voice actors get together and play Dungeons and Dragons. While that might seem a bit out there and this may fill your mind with images of men dressed in bathrobes in someones basement, I promise this series is better than anything you’ve seen on Netflix in the last six months.
So grab a warm blanket, put some pajamas on and start from the beginning! Warning, each episode lasts from three hours to five hours and therefore it is quite time consuming. However, the time dedicated to this series has made it an instant classic.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire
Back in 2012, Pillars of Eternity hit the crowdfunding scene. A new 3D Isometric that hearkened back to game series like Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dale. Becoming one of the most crowdfunded video of its time, Pillars of Eternity raised roughly four million through Kickstarter. Releasing in 2015, Pillars of Eternity became one of the best games of the year and quickly became a “classic” role-playing game.
Fast forward two years, a two-part expansion, and a card game, Obsidian Entertainment has returned to crowdfunding to create Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. No surprise here, but Deadfire smashed through its goal of 1.1 million dollars in under twenty-four hours and now sits at around 1.8 million dollars in funding. As the campaign still has twenty-four days left on its clock, more and more backers and investors on Fig will continue to raise the funding pool hopefully reaching the numerous stretch goals that Obsidian Entertainment has laid out for their fans.
Looking at the brief one minute trailer as well as the video dedicated to backers and investors, I am glad to see the numerous updates brought to Deadfire. While Obsidian Entertainment understands that their is a market for this style of gameplay, they must focus on improving AI to build a living breathing world. While they tout that this is their goal, we will have to wait and see how dramatic the story of Deadfire can change through player input.
Overall, I am stupidly excited for this game. Pillars of Eternity is still one of my favorite games of all time and that not something I say often.
