I haven’t been on here in so long I almost forgot I had one of these. I’ve been doing so much writing for school that I forgot that I need to write non academically. I’ve been having some problems at working involving my anger issues and I realized today that alot of it stems from stress. I tend to get really angry with other people when I’m stressed about things that are not even work related. I’m in my final semester at school and its wearing me out like crazy. This past friday I turned 36 and I kind of feel old. I feel like by now I should have accomplished something greater than finally finishing college. But I’ll tell you that me being able to finish college is a wonderful thing and no one can take that away from me.
Anyway back to the anger thing. I had a huge fight with my coworker who is fellow training officer but his specialty is gates and mine is transponders. I’m also a senior member of staff meaning that I have been on site longer than he has. When the account first had the company change over, guess who had to train everyone? Me. Guess who also was the only one that knew anything about how the transponder programming actually worked? Me. Guess who got taken to lunch by the boss and the liason? Me. Guess who has won awards for my projects and still hasn’t gotten pay raise in almost two years? Me. Granted I get paid more than some of the supervisors but for the extra projects that I do I do not get compensated fairly. So in turn, I have been backing off the extra projects. I have been updating little pieces here and there just to keep my third new boss in three years, happy. Thats the nature of the security business!
The other frustrating thing is that the site has a constant turnover of employee’s which means that me and my coworker are constantly training new people. We are trying to get to point where we are stable and it just feels like Sisophyus and his boulder. My boss is a former highway patrol chief so he knows a thing or two about managing people. I have begun to accept him as a more permanent fixture around the work place. He has great ideas and lets me contribute to training any way that I can. I help him make micro training power points and other officers contribute as well. It’s great but its causing a lot of stress for me because of the confusion about policies and whats in the post orders versus what was taught to the officers.
But a positive note is that all of this training stuff has given me an interest in corporate training. I like to make the manuals and write the parts of the job. I can often translate something into pictures that others can’t. I had a supervisor complement my work and ask if I had taken any power point classes because he liked my style. I told him thank you but no, power point has style templates and suggestions that often make the presentation better looking than it was before. This still made me feel good but a little sad because he is stepping down from his post to go back to his gate. But I get my training partner back.
So why am I so angry? Its stress. Plain and simple. Stress and frustation of doing a job too long, without getting a proper raise. Frustration at not being able to find anything that remotely looks suits me in the current job market and not knowing what I really want to do aside from write training manuals. So you see my dilemma? End rant.

You aren’t a failure because you’re unwell again. Sh*t. Happens. It just so happens that sometimes the sh*t is our brains. This storm will pass. I promise. And there are lots of us out here fighting against it right alongside you. being a woman isn’t about the body you were born with or your feelings or your brain it’s about being haunted by this quote from margaret atwood for your entire life
“Male fantasies, male fantasies, is everything run by male fantasies? Up on a pedestal or down on your knees, it’s all a male fantasy: that you’re strong enough to take what they dish out, or else too weak to do anything about it. Even pretending you aren’t catering to male fantasies is a male fantasy: pretending you’re unseen, pretending you have a life of your own, that you can wash your feet and comb your hair unconscious of the ever-present watcher peering through the keyhole, peering through the keyhole in your own head, if nowhere else. You are a woman with a man inside watching a woman. You are your own voyeur.”
