Neither Cedric nor his cousin, Godfrey, were raised to great wealth. Â Rather, they lived lives as peasants. Â Cedric lived in relative ease for his first eleven years, but things quickly turned sour when the new queen came to power.
As taxes grew more harsh and war ravaged the countryside, dead crops and lack of coin took their toll. Â Cedricâs mother, who was never very strong, took ill. Â Unable to pay for treatments, or even feed her properly, she slowly and painfully passed away, leaving her husband son to make it on their own.
His mother had always been the kindest of women, a pillar of hope for her entire community. Â His father solid and dependable, a responsible farmer and a pillar another kind. Â He raised his son with affection and justice â firm but loving. Â When Cedric was seventeen, his father passed as well.
As a lad, Cedric was carefree, but he still remembers and night sky lit by flame as the Dragon Riderâs made their final stand far above.
Characters name: Â Cedric Boleyn
Age: Â 26
Occupation (if any): Â Rebel/Archer
History/Family Information: Cedric was eleven years old, on a trip visiting his LeFey relatives in another part of Aragoth, when he watched the sky catch fire. Â Scarlet and gold flames snaked in huge ribbons across the blue, raging through the day and lighting the night. Â It was the Dragon Ridersâ last stand. Â Swords, bodies, armor crashed to earth all around them, the lifeless corpses of huge dragons crushing homes and shops. Â The village caught fire, the healers rushing this way and that in a desperate attempt to save expiring lives. Â All sought sanctuary, shelter, but nowhere was truly safe as the sky caught fire bursting alive in a display of unspeakable horror. Â
Up to that point, Cedricâs life had been rather typical, supposedly a nondescript peasant amidst a sea of nondescript peasants. Â Growing up in the rather prosperous region of the Lords de Montfortsâ lands, they wanted for little. Â They used to have mock tournaments, Cedric wearing Kateâs favor, and almost always the champion with the bow, but also not bad with the sword â the reward: a kiss on the cheek from a certain girl. Â One of his closest childhood friends was a lovely girl by the name of Katheryne Miller, a girl he always called Kate. Â As children, they were always part of the same circle of friends and it seemed Kate was eternally pulling him out of some mischief or another, or else he was dragging her into it â one of his greatest delights. Â As they grew older, however, Cedric began to realize his feelings for Kate were unlike his feelings for anyone else at all: he was in love with her.
What might have been an idyllic romance (amongst other things), was interrupted by the seizure of power by Rowena Godiva in the far-off Imperial City and by the war that followed. Â Rowena and her forces first laid waste to the force that had protected Aragoth for centuries: the Dragon Riders, pursuing and murdering every last one and even going so far as to confiscate or destroy every dragon egg held in the Hall of the Dragon Riders. Â Every regular soldier who stood up to the new Queen was put to the sword and any townsperson who raised a hand or even spoke against her was hanged on the city walls, their bodies left to rot where all could see. Â Even their good and kind lord, Alaric de Montfort, was branded a traitor and, had he not made a miraculous escape, would have been put to death.
Cedric was eleven when his world was engulfed in fear. Â For the safety of his family and friends, nothing could be done. Â His own uncle was seized and slaughtered for grumbling against the war, itself, and Cedricâs father had his tongue ripped out for protesting in his brotherâs favor.
Â His mother had always been the kindest of women, a pillar of hope for her entire community. Â His father solid and dependable, a responsible farmer and a pillar of another kind. Â He raised his son with affection and justice â firm but loving. Â When Cedric was seventeen, his father passed as well, leaving him all but alone in the world.
Cedric had always been the one to try and cheer his parents up, even to their last days; heâd been the one to tell them of a better future â but heâd never felt able to work towards that. Â If he did anything, he knew, his family would pay the price. Â But with them gone, he saw it as his chance to finally work for hope in a wretched world. Â He was always trying to help his friends buck up and tell them with optimism about a better future. Â He was also â unfortunately â a bit of a rebel rouser. Â Whenever he could, heâd remind people of how much better it had been before the Queen â how much better it might be, now, if they did something about it. Â Cedric was one of the few who had witnessed the last stand of the Dragon Riders, standing outside watching the fires rage across the heavens, and when heâd returned home, it was to a village suppressed and troubled. Â The road home had been filled with dangers and it seemed in one night, the world had transformed beyond all recognition. Â The recollection of that night was forever emblazoned on Cedricâs mind, written in his memory as if by a permanent afterglow.
Cedric took to secretly speaking in hushed tones with a group of his friends, telling them of the peaceful ways they could help change their world: with kindness and determination, he was sure, it could be done. Â He continued his skill with the bow, often using them to creep into the queenswood and kill the queenâs deer, which he would bring back to help feed his village, just as heâd done to feed his mother in her last months. Â Between these two acts, Cedric began to develop more and more of a following, his village starting to give a quiet, peaceful resistance to the queenâs harsh rule.
It did not take long for these measures to be noted by the local authorities, who began investigating the root of this. Â A âdangerous rebelâ called Alaric de Montfort had been traveling through the area, it was believed, and they began to suspect that someone in the area was giving him sanctuary, since certainly such dangerous ideas couldnât spring up without prompting. Â They began scouting for anyone sneaking in and out of town, or any gatherings of large groups of people. Â Overhearing this from soldiers while selling bread, Kate Miller knew Cedric fit both descriptions and hurried to warn him. Â Cedric warned those who had followed him and, at Kateâs behest, took to the woods, just in time, but not before asking Kate to marry him in earnest, for the first time. Â Unfortunately, Kate believed he was joking and refused; fortunately, he managed to pull off his escape just in the nick of time.
Ousted and on the run, seventeen year old Cedric set up camp in the queenswood. Â Quick and agile, he formed a bizarre system of climbing trees or leaping into caverns or lakes to avoid potential captors and feeding on the queenâs deer, himself. Â He continued to share his bounty with his village, however, leaving them offerings and protecting any who might have reason to disappear, helping them along their way. Â He wasnât just going to become a hermit and disappear â Cedric had sworn heâd make a difference. Â He meant to keep his word. Â A peaceful resistance had profited them nothing: it was merely time to change tactics.
When word from the village reached Cedric that their true lord, Alaric de Montfort, had been caught by the queenâs men in the area and was set to be executed, Cedric made a rather brash move. Â Making use of both his keen archery skills and his agility, he crept into the prison where Alaric was being held and broke him out. Â If one patrol had sought out Cedric Boleyn during the time of his escape, at least a hundred were unleashed to seek out Alaric de Montfort. Â Cedricâs little tricks were not enough to keep them safe as the two men fled for safety. Â Between the two of them, they were able to invent ingenious devices for escape and protection. Â Alaric was an unparalleled swordsman, good in hand-to-hand combat and Cedric was a skilled marksman, good at a distance. Â Between the two of them, they made quite the team â and between the two of them, they were able to attract more and more to their cause. Â Nine years later, the Resistance has gained a number of new members and has caused the Queen some considerable difficulty. Â At last, Cedric is making the difference he always knew he must.

Goals/Hopes for Future:
Romantic Life: Â Cedric may be a flirt, but all his life he has only ever loved one. Â Cedric will never stop trying for her heart, but that doesnât seem to prevent him from breaking others. Â It is certainly not his intention to cause anyone pain, at all, but Cedric can be quite charming when he wishes to be and he has a love of seeing others smile â and of flirting. Â The two traits, married, form a rather treacherous snare. Â Cedric may mean nothing by it, but he is bad at expressing this sentiment and, sadly, no woman has yet been able to read his mind. Â The truth is, there is a very particular impediment in the form of Katheryne Miller. If she would have him, Cedric would marry her in an instant, but he knows good and well that Kate has her heart set on the poet Lysander Stafford, and seeing her happy is Cedricâs fondest desire. Â Still, this does not prevent him from proposing to the beauty every chance he gets. Â Tragically for him, Kate seems to believe all his love is merely a jest.
