Happy Birthday, Misha Collins ⼠August 20th, 1974
We are appalled by President Trumpâs tweets about banning transgender people from military service. There are an estimated 15,000 transgender people already working in the Department of Defense, putting their lives on the line to protect our nation and its values. Those values do not include the heartlessness exhibited by Mr. Trump this morning. Discrimination has no place in our government, in our workplaces, our schools, or anywhere else in our lives.
While itâs still unclear what the actual policy ramifications of these tweets will be, we recommend keeping up with (and, if you can, donating to) the ACLU and the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund.Â
You can also directly tell the president how unacceptable his attack on American servicepersons is by using this form provided by the @transgenderfreedomproject.
We know there will be plenty of conversation about this on Tumblr in the coming days, and we urge you to take this moment to support and educate each other in whatever ways you can. And if you just need someone to talk to right now, there are people here to listen, 24 hours a day, seven days a week:
Trans Lifeline: A crisis hotline by and for the transgender community. 877-565-8860
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-TALK (8255)

LGBT representation in the media
My mother:(homophobically) Are there any shows these days that don't have gay people in it?
Me: Biting my tongue back because I could go into a whole rant about how underrepresented the LGBT community is in television and how when we ARE represented it's either stereotypical Gay Best Friends, or good looking, cis, gay white boys. I could tell her that all of it is usually blatant gross fan service and Hollywood throwing the dog a bone, and I could tell her that The Straights are freaking EVERYWHERE and since we've all been doomed to watch them fall into sappy repetitive overly dramatic cliched insta love over and over again in every.movie.and.tv.show.ever the least she could do is not be homophobic while the boyfriends in this show get their 30 seconds worth of allotted screen time (that was only given, in the first place, because Hollywood feel like they have no other choice but to be 'politically correct')
So I need backup here to show her.
Can you all PLEASE like and reblog the shit out of this post if you agree that the LGBT community on a whole is grossly mistreated and actually, contrary to what she may think, very underrepresented in the media.

Edit:
It has been brought to my attention that I shouldn't use shipping tags on posts like these. I'm sorry for any inconvenience caused by that. It won't happen again! đ
For an explination, though, the reason I tagged ships on this is because I figured you all would understand/relate to what I was trying to say.

*If youâre in a safe, welcoming environment. If you know there are people around you who hate your way of life, itâs not weak to keep it closeted for your own protection.
iâm op and thank you so much i just started crying because this is the only good addition to this post
having a gay otp doesnât make you a lgbtq+ supporter
reading a lot of gay fan fiction doesnât make you a lgbtq+ supporter
i once knew a girl who spent most of her free time reading gay smut, but she was extremely uncomfortable any time she had to interact with a lesbian because she was afraid theyâd hit on her.
thatâs not being a supporter. thatâs fetishizing homosexuality.Â
nobody cares if you ship destiel or johnlock or whatever, if youâre not okay with real life gay people, youâre still homophobic. itâs the same with guys who watch lesbian porn but donât think that gay marriage should be legal. you canât fetishize someoneâs sexuality like that. thatâs not okay and you are the worst kind of homophobe if you do.Â
đ¨ The internet needs you đ¨
Youâre up again, Tumblr.Â
Back in 2015 you demanded that the FCC adopt strict net neutrality rules and establish a free and open internet. And you won.Â
That shouldâve been the end of it. But apparently not.
The new head of the FCC wants to undo the net neutrality protections you fought so hard for.
His proposed changes open the door to your web traffic being slowed down, or even blocked altogether. You could be forced to pay extra to use your favorite apps. You could even be prevented from getting news from the sources you trust.
Title II protects consumers and democracy by ensuring all voices can be heard.
You know the drill. Hereâs what to do:
The FCC is taking comments from the public, and dearfcc.org is making it as simple as possible for you to make your voice heard.
Go there now đ dearfcc.org âď¸
Youâll just need to provide a name, an address, and then say a little bit about why rolling back Title II protections is a bad idea. If youâre not quite sure what to write, hereâs something to get you started:
Iâm writing to urge you to keep our Open Internet rules based on Title II in place. Without them, we could lose the internet as we know it.
The proposed changes to FCC rules would allow fast lanes for sites that pay, and force everyone else into slow lanes. Weâve already seen access to streaming services like Netflix, popular games like League of Legends, and communication platforms like FaceTime slowed down, or even blocked. Conditions like this hurt businesses large and small, and penalize the users who patronize them.Â
The changes also open the door to unfair taxes on internet users, and could also make it harder for blogs, nonprofits, artists, and others who canât pay up to have their voices heard.
Please leave the existing net neutrality rules based on Title II in place.
Thank you!
If you need more ammo, feel free to quote these experts from our net neutrality Issue Time. TechCrunch and Battle for the Net also have some good starters.
Everyone is counting on everyone else here. Do your part and tell the FCC to keep a free and open internet under Title II.Â
