a small reminder to questioning people that it’s okay to read opinions you don’t agree with. there’s nothing immoral about reading and considering what other people have to say. taking in information and learning is not in itself a transgression and your beliefs won’t be shaken by reading things unless you do, in fact, think that they are accurate, which is okay and you should be free to explore that further without anyone breathing down your neck.

anyone who attempts to make you believe that you can’t read things said by certain people is trying to control you, because they know that alternative opinions could cause some people to stray from being under the influence of their own group, and they don’t care about these individuals’ well-being at all, only their own status and how many people will uncritically listen to everything they say.

it’s always okay to question. there’s nothing you aren’t allowed to think about.

not to be a preachy freak but community college is an awesome, underutilized resource. if people could get their heads out of their asses and stop stigmatizing cc, everyone could save so much money.

for some people like myself, it is a 2nd chance. in high school i was seriously considering dropping out but i graduated w a 2.5-2.7 gpa that no uni was gonna take. now im in 1 of the top 10 design programs in tha country. some people did fine in hs but can’t afford a 4 yr right away and cc almost halves that cost. Or maybe u just want ur associates degree.. or maybe u just need to stay close to home to take care of ur fam…or u’re an older student and cc gives u the chance to work while taking night classes. there are so many reasons ppl go to cc and there’s nothing wrong with any of them…stop shitting on cc and cc students

relevant addendum: idk about other states, but for state schools in california, the majority of spots to transfer in are reserved for community college students in that area.

i went to a state university out-of-state, and found that if i want to transfer to a CSU, i would have to have a very high gpa to even submit an application (most didnt specify but CSUN specified 3.9. MINIMUM, TO APPLY.), whereas those with 2 years of credits at a community college within 60 miles of the school could apply with a 2.0. both UCs and CSUs state that their transfer spots are mainly for community college students. i wasnt told this in high school, and get the impression teachers didnt know, as they fed into the stigma against community colleges

so, not sure about all states, but please do look into things like this and dont discredit the option of community college!!
