“I’ll be right back,” she said, disappearing into the small shop and coming out minutes later with two cups of green tea and a few sugar packets. “What are you studying?”
“Thank you so much,” Celia smiled gratefully as Allegra came back with the tea, “Astronomy.”
She hadn’t meant to talk to her dad. It had been an accident, made up of a distracted girl and a vibrating phone. One hand full of groceries, the and her mind far away from her body, Celia had answered the phone, expecting to hear Rosalind’s voice on the other end. Because really, who besides her cousin would be calling her? Hearing her father speak again had startled her, so much that she’d hung up without thinking.
Still jittery, Celia sat down heavily on a park bench, wanting to rest for a moment and collect her thoughts, “Oh, shit,” she muttered to herself, then realizing, only too late, that someone was sitting next to her.
‘ i’m starving. is it too late for some lunch? ‘
I don’t think it’s ever too late for food.
“I’ve got enough money for some Ramen, so I should be good.”
Ramen really is all the food you need.
“I’m not sure. They say… they say a certain family isn’t nice. I’m not sure though. They could be very nice and it could be a lie for all I know. However, we’re going to stick with them not being very nice.”
Oh, well, um, maybe I just haven’t met them yet.
“When you finish school, you’ll know,” she joked. “What kind of tea do you like?”
“I’m kind of looking forward to being done, actually. Oh, um, I’m fine with anything. But green? If you have it?
