I just wanted to share the progression of my dicemaking because I feel like a lot of folks try it and get discouraged. Or a lot of dicemakers compare themselves against people who’ve been making dice for years. It’s also just a nice reminder to myself of how far I’ve come.

The first picture is of the very first d20 I ever tried to make. It was a mess! The difference between photo 1 and the last photo is 2 years and 8 months.

You Fool! You thought I was done with the tests, but behold, for I am not yet finished! This is a test with three colored pigment pastes carefully inserted into the dice, I think they turned out pretty good. What do you think?

I’ve seen tons of these floating around for character/OC inspiration but after having a long conversation with my spouse over thematic tone in movies and games, we started talking about media that’s inspired our tone/plot/themes for the homebrew games we run and I wanted to make a little thing for Darkwood! 

Darkwood is my homage to folklore and fairytales. Not only do I love media that toes the line between being thematically dark and whimsical, but after filling this out I realized that every one of my main inspo sources is basically a world of “A contained settlement surrounded by a vast, dangerous, unknown land.” Which is Darkwood in a nutshell!  

I DID save a blank version if other DMs are interested in playing around with it! I’d love to see what inspires other people!

HEY GUYS! Still clearing out the mini cabinets! I’ve been stepping up my mini painting game and have been trying to make space for the more display-style stuff!  I also did a hard switch from preparing for a Sea-Faring game to running a Fey-Heavy game so a few of these guys I’d been hanging onto I no longer need!  OR in the case of the red dragon, my spouse got me a BIGGER, BADDER red dragon and I don’t have room for both of them, LOL!  So if you’re interested in a big ol’ centerpiece monster for your DnD game, check out what I’ve got available!

Today’s dice: holographic lace foiled blanks, for WIZARDRY MAGIC.

I don’t even have the first idea what color to ink them because LITERALLY ANYTHING WOULD BE MAGICAL, they are SO SHINY.

I AGONIZED over how to finish these to best show off their amazingness, and finally settled on SUPER EXTRA: I painted everything Lisa Frank hot pink, coated the wet paint in bright pink holo glitter, and then sealed everything with an ultra-gloss acrylic. THE SPARKLIEST DICE.
