The human library was an eye opening experince where we got to learn about peoples lives and storys growing up. I got to learn about peoples careers and if i would be interesting in it. I really enjoyed it because the books were funny, inspiring, and overall really genuine people who i could look up to. The books i saw were Loyal Wooldridge, Sam Shakura, Josh Hoggan with Nicole Kranabetter, Carmen Fromant, Thomas Kjorven, David Lea, Desiree, Riley, and Kerry-Lee Brown. These people were all inspiring and motivational speakers who encouraged me on my future ahead. Loyal: Loyal was a hairdresser who is also gay. He told us how we came out (which was his dad reading through his emails) and his buisness as a owner of a hairdressing place. He also talked about his partner and how they are engaged now. Loyal was a kind, funny, and caring person who made us all laugh. He told stories about how he got engaged and things that went wrong with his wedding ring. He got fired from alot of jobs because he wanted to do things his way so thats what got him into making his own hairdressing buisness. Sam: Sam was an interier designer aswell as fashion and jewlery maker. Her buisness was called Rock House Designs where her interier design part of the business go from house designs to hospital designs. Her clothing part of the buisness is more of a edgier style where she makes her jewlery out of perals most of the time. She inspired me because i always think about how it would be being an interier designer and it was neat seeing a person and her photos from being in that buisness. Josh and Nicole: Josh and Nicole talked about their adventures traveling and all their neat experinces. It was really cool seeing all the photos of them doing activities all over the world. It inspired me to want to travel more and accually look into the ruins and old historical remains because they are more interesting than you think. Carmen Fromant: Carmen was an flight attendant who followed her dreams as a kid and achieved them by doing all the required things. She never gave up. She was nineteen when she first started being a flight attendant. Her bilanguage skills helped her get the job she wanted. She inspired me to think about what i would want to be and achieve when im older by thinking about what my passions are and what my dreams are to do. She was a very motivational speaker. She was also an author who wrote a book a year or two ago. One in english and another in French. Thomas: Thomas works as a rock wall builder whos also is a music producer and has a baby who was born premature (24 weeks into the pregancy). He talked about his rock wall buisness and how he likes doing it and also about his music production, like how we was with Snak the Ripper and one other rapper who are big hits. He mainly focused on his baby son though. How he was born 24 weeks in the pregancy, which his halfway from being due. He had to be flown to Vancouver and stayed there from the beggining of October to the end of November where he went back to Kelowna. He told us funny stories about his son like how we doesnt like to be cuddled so when he gets hurt everyone rushes to him because thats the only time he will cuddle with you. He was my favorite book. David: David owned a karate place in Kelowna which is wildly popular and UFC guys go there sometimes to train. He talked about his experiences at watching UFC's and his own fights. He also talked about his injuries he got during his fights. Desiree: Desiree was a very inspring speaker who talked about her childhood growing up. She went through poverty, her moms boyfriend being abusive, being physically and mentally abused, depressed, and others. She is a strong girl who is independant and very motivational. She had a rough childhood but now is doing much better. She was inspiring because she told us to never give up even when it seems like the end. Riley: Riley talked about how his mom was going to have a kid before him who died due to something his mom had. It took 3 more years for his mom to have him by doing a transplant. He was inspirational because he didn't seem upset or down for would have had a brother. He was a strong kid. Kerry-Lee Kerry-Lee talked about her photography and outside design aswell as how she achieved having those careers. She is Mr,Browns wife and she brought her kid who she told stories about. She has a natural birth and that got her inspired to be a Dotta (something like that). She was inspiring because she talked about her life growing up and how she achieved the careers she has now.
