Ewron used to be a prince but now he’s no longer the polish families prince and decided to become a guard, he left his royal family because they turned their backs on him over something idiotic he did & they seemed okay with leaving him, even though they are worse. You on the other hand, high and mighty in your castle, no one doubted you. They never dared to. You weren’t particularly seeking for any new guards but he walked in, all serious with his armor, had a good objective & by verification from your other guards. Good at fighting, you knew he seemed familiar but couldn’t quite place him yet.

From time to time you step out of the castle to watch over everyone who works for you a bit closer, everyone was well behaved, well trained & most importantly, respectful. In your entire royal life your family has always taught you that fighting was never a good option, you were always peaceful & kind and everyone in many towns always loved your family because of that. One of the many reasons why you have such a huge staff, of course you would never want to start any fights but if anything does happen that you would need to fight back then you have your strongest team.

You go to the training area and sit watching how your guards take turns in their fighting, they switch between each other with whoever’s strongest or whoever needed more training. You noticed Ewron there, all serious, quiet, vigilant, you wanted to see him fight up and close. Was he actually as good? you whisper to your closest guards asking them to tell Ewron to go in and fight with one of the other guards. The first one to jump in, he’s cocky but he was good. You watch them fight for minutes, he was good, he had something different. You were intrigued by him, first he looks familiar & now this. Did he mean well by deciding to go serve you instead? Those thoughts linger in your mind as you watch the fight. He wasn’t bad at all, you finally walk out of the area to deal with other stuff, slightly more important.

After dealing with everything you finish off your day & head to bed. Its late but you can’t help but have him in your mind, so many questions, such little answers. You fall asleep in the process of thinking of him, this mysterious guard. Your mysterious guard.

The next day you decided to just call him for a private meeting, no other guards, no one watching or listening. Just the ones standing outside of the doors which was decently far from where the main table was, he arrives, still with his face flat. No emotions, no light in his eyes.

“I wanted to personally welcome you once again, you work well. We don’t really need that but it’s always good to have someone that’s better than the usual crowd.” He bows down “Thank you, your majesty.” you watch him bow down at you, you noted that he was respectful. Good. “I would like to know your reasoning Ewron, you come from an opposite side from where you’re standing on right now & you appearing here out of the blue is interesting. Tell me, please.” “Your majesty. I had to leave my royal family because they no longer accepted me or accepted my changes.” “& your changes were what?” “I along side being able to fight as they do, deal with dark magic.” he sounded shameful, regretful of having such power. You thought you had plenty like that in your castle that only you knew what they really dealt with.

“Who told you?” he looks up, confused “What?” “No one in my castle, not even the guards know i take in those who deal with such things. I have precisely 2, i trust them and they trust me meaning they must really know & care for you.” he just stares at you, in shock. “I-yes, we are close. ive known them for a long time in secret until i started seeking shelter that they told me to go you.” “I see, so tell me. Who?” “Foolish, your majesty.” “Interesting.” “If you are in need to punish anyone, punish me. He didn’t do anything but help” you look at him, you’re in deep thought, you weren’t gonna do that. Why would you? maybe he’s good at what he does. “I don’t punish anyone here unless they deserve it. I will tell you that you are now going to be my top & personal guard. You stay close to me at all times, even private meetings.” “Wha- Why, if you don’t mind me asking.” “I can only assume that if foolish trusts you id assume tina is also in that group & i trust those two. They aren’t here because they have their specific titles in this castle. Now you, you can fight amazingly & i would love to see how you deal with that magic.” you notice some red appear on his cheeks, he’s flustered.

“Thank you, your majesty. You won’t regret this.” you nod and tell him to stand straight, he listens. “Now, your job with me is that you follow almost my every step. You don’t have to, but id rather you did. Its useful. Then you would have a room for your magic, you tell me what it is specifically, if you need anything special & i will get it done. Got all that?” he nods “Yes.” “Good.” you get up from your chair and start heading towards the doors, they automatically open by your guards and inform them of Ewron’s promotion & they nod at you, you continue on with your day, Ewron by your side now. You notice small things here and there, he walks slightly faster than you, smells like a soft lavender scent, he’s an extremely social person but also can be timid over some things. You wonder how much more you can figure out about him now that he’s gonna by your side 24/7.

He’s a good listener. Attentive, which is what you note the most. Exactly what you need since all you do is talk about some random bullshit & he will completely understand you, in his own way but he does. “Ewron, you have to give me a list of materials for your magic tomorrow night. Got it?” he nods, arms crossed in front of him “Of course, your majesty.” you nod then sigh, prepare for bed and lay down. He slept in a room next you or, right behind the wall your bed rests at. It’s this spare place you had with nothing in it and you need him by you at all times so… it only makes sense.

As you lay in your bed, you can’t help but think about the fact that he just so happens to be friends with two people you knew. Nothing out of the ordinary, just an interesting coincidence. For now you still have an eye out on him, nothing personal it’s just for your own security and safety. You wonder about the days you would watch him do his magic, will he hurt you? will he hurt himself? how far does he really go?

The very next day after waking up & preparing for the day, he stands by you as you told him to do when you hired him “Good morning your majesty, i got the list you asked for. When can i hand it to you?” without looking at him, you put your hand out, palm up as if you were signaling you wanted something there. He places a piece of piece of paper on your hand then you start to read it, bunch of potions, jars, bowls, some animal parts. The list went on, you nod “You will get this in the night, that’s a promise.” You stand up “For now, follow me to your new magic room.” You start heading out of your main area and lead him to somewhere darker, further out in the castle. It was a wine cellar, you already had one and this was an extra that was somehow accidentally made. You unlock it, hand him the spare key and turn the lights on “Is this good for you? would you fix it yourself or would you like me to get someone to decorate this?” he looks around, checking the area out making sure nothing could get in or out “I can decorate it. This is perfect, thank you, your majesty” “It may be slightly cold because it used to be a wine cellar but i can only assume it can work to conserve some things, right?” he nods “You can add anything you want, shelves, boxes, cages. Just don’t make too much noise, got it?” “Yes, of course, your majesty” you nod and start walking away “We have to start our day, come now. You can deal with this during the night.” he goes to follow you, already put his spare key away & is prepared for whatever happens in the day.

It wasn’t too eventful, just had to deal with a few things, guards doing their daily training along with Ewron. He was a good guard, his stuff finally came and were nicely placed in his now cellar but he doesn’t exactly know that yet until the night falls. He’s very helpful, doesn’t speak too much unless spoken to, you wonder what argument caused him to leave his own family. Were they in the wrong? did he make up a whole lie just to be with you? you try not to let those thoughts take over but it doesn’t hurt to be a little bit more curious.

The night fell and you hear him excuse himself and you knew where he would go. You wanted to follow him but decided to give him space, overall it is something personal and he has been with you all day, of course. You close your eyes and rest your night away. After a while you start to slightly wake up over some noises, as if someone was walking in and was trying to be quiet. It clearly wasn’t working, you assume it’s Ewron and when you check the clock it shows that it’s 3 in the morning. You assume things went well and he was very excited with things, you won’t tell him anything about being a light sleeper or that you can easily hear him stepping into the shared room only because that seems like something he adores doing & it really wasn’t problem.

In the morning when you see him he seems tired “Good morning. Rough night?” “Good morning your majesty, i was excited over the things you got me. I promise that was the only time i would be up so late.” “I don’t care, you stay up with your magic as long as you want. Just don’t forget your main job, got it?” he nods “Perfect, today you can step out of the daily practice because you seem exhausted. Don’t get used to this, this will be the only time.” “Of course, thank you.”

You do the same thing as always until one of your other guards go up to you with a letter, you got mail, not unusual but this one was from a specific place, from his old place, old family. You take a deep breath and put it away, you will read it in the night. He doesn’t know who sent it but he knows you did receive a letter, didn’t ask you any questions about it. Maybe it was something personal, to which it was… only not you personal.

Night finally falls, he leaves and you sit up from your bed, grab the letter and start to read. “Dear Starfall castle, we the Polska family are here to tell you about the individual that recently your castle. You know his name already so we wont mention it here, he may have told you that he deals with ‘dark magic’ or that he left us. He doesn’t and he didn’t, he betrayed us for something more powerful than he is. It hurt us, those around us and he didn’t care one bit. We are warning you, we know that your castle is all about peace & kindness, something he isn’t. He is a manipulator & a liar, please keep him out or keep a serious eye on him.” That was all, you sat there not knowing how to feel. That’s when he walks back in, earlier than you expected “Ewron.” he stands there in shock, notices the open letter in your hand “Your majesty, i apologize. Did i interrupt something?” you look down at your hands, quickly fold the piece of paper you had just read and put it away. “Not at all. Nothing serious, you were working with your magic? how’d that go?” he steps closer, puts his hands behind his back “It went great! i uh, had worked on this thing for awhile now and since i have all of the materials for it, it worked! so it’s all thanks to you really.” you nod looking at him, smiling, trying to hide the fact that you were just told something opposite of who he is to you. “Good! thats good. If you need anything else you can always let me know.” he nods “Thank you so much! im good for now, but if in the near future i need anything then i will ask.” “Perfect. I’m going to bed now, goodnight Ewron.” “Goodnight, your majesty.” the lights go off and you both sleep.

The past few days were decently normal, at least to you. Every night you keep going back to that letter, why would they tell you? were they telling the truth? why didn’t they just imprison him after everything he did to them. It all felt like a horrible lie to keep him out somehow, if he was actually what they said, then he’s real good at it because he has you and many in your castle fooled. Then again, he knows two people you trust completely and have known for years, why would they blindly tell him to go to your castle if he wasn’t going to be a trustworthy guard?

Weeks go by, realistically nothing has happened, he does seem a little changed. Not in a bad way but just… looks different, one night you get up and follow him to his cellar to check out what he’s been up to, it wouldn’t hurt, right?

As you follow him down and quietly you note how much quicker he can be when he isn’t with you, he’s focused on one thing and will get to it as quick as possible. Especially late at night when no one can see him go to said cellar, even if it’s further out you can only assume that the quicker he is there the better. You both finally arrive, you few steps back and silent, him all rushed but kinda calmed..you have no idea how that’s possible but he is, he opens the cellar and steps in, seemingly taking a deep breath then gets to work. You stare at him through a tiny window the cellar has, he moves around grabbing everything and anything, picking them up with confidence and you can’t help but feel captivated. You rarely feel that over anyone, especially a guard of yours. But he just looks good working with what it seems to be something powerful, he has this black and red outfit that covers hin completely, you can tell he has his hair tied back as usual but it’s covered by a hood. You notice how you’re holding your breath and just had to step back for a moment. You decided to go back to your room for now, maybe another night you will see him like this. But tonight he can’t see you like this.

You wake up in the morning, you had the deepest sleep ever and notice you overslept by an over of your normal scheduled time. You get up and quickly get ready for your day then head to the main area apologizing a million times, Ewron immediately runs to you and apologizes as well “Your majesty, i wasn’t sure if i could wake you up or not so i let you get your extra sleep. If you need me to wake you after sometime has passed, please tell me.” “It’s okay, i was extremely tired last night. It’s all my fault, alright?” he nods and gets to work as well, you can’t help but accidentally stare at him at times, how he looked last night. You shake those thoughts away and continue on with your day, nothing out of the ordinary today. He would do something somewhat close to you and you can smell the soft lavender smell he has all the time, today it felt stronger to you. You need to put a stop on this or it can be bad for you as the leader of the castle.

Night falls and you go around Ewrons room before he goes, you softly knock on his door and let yourself in. You see him with his hair down for the first time since you met him, he was getting ready to leave already “Your majesty. Is there a problem?” you look at him, once again looking like an idiot just by staring. “No, i just wanted to talk to you. I feel like we never have one on one talks and if you ask me… i would prefer that happens more often with my personal guard.” he nods and takes a seat, he signals you to do the same. “Talk to me, your majesty. I am in no rush.” you nod and take a small look around his room, it used to be so bland but now he gave it his touch. “I would like to start with the fact that this is my first time seeing you with your hair down, looks good.” you can tell how his cheeks slightly turn pink at that, you remember how he did that when he first met you and then a few other times like when you touched his arm or something. Has he had a thing this whole time? “Thank you! i was thinking about cutting it before anything else but, i will definitely keep it now.” you smile at that “Yeah you better. So tell me, how has everything gone magic wise? anything good? anything bad?” “Here and there, last time i mentioned how i finally one experiment right…well now i have plenty. I only asked Foolish and Tina to help with a few of them because i needed another person for it, but it works!” you smile at how excited he sounds, how he explains things with so much pride “Thats wonderful! you keep my workers safe now though. I have plenty but those are extremely close to me, okay?” you let out a small chuckle but he nods at you “Don’t you worry, i would never hurt them.” “I know.” you both look at each other, comfortable silence. You two never really have any deep conversations but by the end of the day it is just a job for him, another guard for you. But you still have this need to just get closer and closer to him. “Ewron i don’t know why but” you bite your bottom lip, stopping yourself from finishing that sentence “Never mind, im exhausted and i don’t wanna keep you any longer so… i’ll leave you.” you start to slowly stand up, he does the same “Are you sure?” you quickly nod, he seems disappointed but of course he can’t say anything more to you. You want him to though, obviously he doesn’t know. “Good night, Ewron.” “Good night, your majesty” you head to your room and lay on your bed, you can’t get him out of your mind. You feel frustrated & annoyed that you have such feelings. This isn’t what they taught you, you’re supposed to be with someone in your same level. What is wrong with you?

You wake up, you feel horrible. You call Ewron and tell him to inform everyone that you’re feeling sick, after that he goes back to you, looking concerned and even grabbed a chair to sit by you “Your majesty, tell me what you need and i will get it for you.” “My guard” you look at him, touch his cheek “I will be okay, tell the cook to get me something for my throat, after that i want you here. Okay?” he nods, gets up and quickly moves to tell the cook what you asked for, he isn’t exactly sure what that could mean but he figures the cook knows. Theres many things he can make for a sick person, he knows that. He goes back to you and sits down once more with a towel on your forehead, you have your eyes closed. In his eyes you looked so pale, face relaxed, warm to the touch. Could it had been his fault that you got sick? he worked on something the night you two spoke and wonders if him thinking about you got in the mix of a spell. Thats not how spells work…unless. Another guard carefully walks into the room with what you order and Ewron helps you sit up, your whole body feels like it’s on fire, your head hurts and it feels like its spinning at the same time, this has never happened to you until today.

You barely finish what you had and immediately laid down, he still stayed by you. “Gosh, you’re so sweet.” you say in a very quiet voice “I can’t believe your family has ever told me that you were the complete opposite.” his ears perk up and he looks confused “What? what do you mean?” “It was a whole thing a few months ago… the letter..” you start drifting off again, you feel so weak today. He looks at you in disbelief and gets up quickly deciding if he wants to snoop around in your room, he decided that will. But not too much, he looks into the usual ‘hiding’ spots that people have like the bookshelves, underneath something then the drawers. He finds it, it was sitting right there, folded in many different ways since you’ve read it many times since you got it. He reaches for it with shaky hands, opens it and starts to read.

He takes a deep breath, the more he reads the more upset he is. How could is own family do this? he notices how the letter had something. He didn’t tell you how his family dealt with heavier stuff than what he does, stuff that has hurt so many. The truth was that although dark magic can be bad he would’ve protected and helped his family but they decided to leave him out of many things, but this…this was worse. Harming another castle? especially their leader? how could they cover a letter with such a strong thing that would only make you sick after a week or so. He tries not to panic, he will help you.

He grabs you from your bed, takes you to his cellar and lays you down on his table. One of his spells has to heal you, he calls Foolish and Tina over because they know a few things as well and how to find the main thing that hurt you. “All over a stupid letter! are you kidding?!” “Hey, hey it’ll be okay. They’ll be fine? trust us.” “They went too far. We have to fight back somehow” “Our majesty doesn’t like wars. Don’t start one Ewron, wait until they are healed.” he starts to pace around, looking at his potions, looking at everything he has made, reading through pages. Finally they figured it out, between Tina and Foolish they knew just what you had. “Ewron, they have some sort of… radiation. It’s curable. Problem is that well- if we wait any longer their only cure will be having to wait.” Tina tells him, she’s still helping keeping you on a steady temperature. “What? they fucking didn’t, no. Why? why attack the leader of the castle of peace and not directly me?” “Did they know about your feelings?” “Wha- No! no.” he looks away for a moment, deep in thought “No… even if they did, it’s ridiculous! makes no sense to hurt them! they are kind to everyone. How could my own family do this.” he tries not to tear up, taking a deep breath and focusing “What do we have to do?” he turns back around, prepared for anything. “For starters we need a lot of everything.” Foolish gives him a list of ingredients and they all get to work whilst also keeping an eye on you, often times you mumble a few things that makes them jump here and there but overall they worked hard for this. You deserve to be healthy, Ewron can’t stop thinking about losing you, if he lost you, if the whole castle lost you, everyone would lose it.

Foolish and Tina left to quickly grab a few things, he’s alone with you again. The sun has started to rise and he can’t leave your side, you move once again “Ewron?” you mumble, trying to sit up and squinting “Your majesty. How are you feeling?” he holds onto your back as you try to sit up, you groan and try to open your eyes again “My head is spinning. Am i in my room?” “No, i brought you to my cellar, it was colder here. Plus i…we are making a cure for you.” “Wha-Who is we and why a cure? isn’t this a uh…flu?” he shakes his head “No, your majesty. It’s far worse, i don’t know how to break the news.” “What is it?” you look at him, somewhat able to see him now, he looks worried. “Well…the letter you mentioned” “The letter? i mentioned?” “From my family.” “Shit! Ewron im- im sorry, i didn’t believe them, i hope you know this.” he nods looking down “I figured but…it was poisoned.” “Poisoned? with what?” “That’s the worse part, the poison is.. radiation.” “What? Ewron?” “Your majesty, it’s curable. I promise you, i won- We won’t lose you.” you lay back down, close your eyes again and take a deep breath. You feel even more dizzy, even worse. How is that possible? “Have you informed the other guards?” “Tell them what?” “That they will have to fight soon. It’s your family but they shouldn’t have done this.” “But your majesty- we have to heal you first.” “Ewron. Look at me, i don’t care. Tell them to prepare, i trust you would know a good plan.” he nods and stands up then grabs his sword. “Anything for you, i will be back.” he takes your hand, kisses your knuckles then starts heading towards the other guards.

On the other hand as he does that, here comes Foolish and Tina to help you, they are kind as always, cracking jokes from time to time. You trust them with this, you groan and look at them “You guy’s don’t have to do this, you know this right?” Tina turns around “Of course we have to! we need you healthy and strong and alive. This place wouldn’t be the same without you! I can’t lose another friend.” you slightly smile, eyes closed. They keep giving you stuff, it feels like it’s kinda helping, you would imagine it would take time. “When im able to properly get up and move, i need one serious shower. You guys are giving me so much.” you let out a small chuckle that turns into a cough “Gosh, im sorry” “It’s okay. happens.” Foolish tells you, his back turned. “Do you think Ewron is okay?” they both look at each other for a moment “Of course he is! why wouldn’t he?” “I may have told him to start a war.” they both turn around “What!?” “It’s necessary… look at me!” “You can’t strike the same day they knew you’d be hurt. Let them believe you’d be gone in their time then hit them when you least expect it!” “I don’t think we strike today….right?” they both shrug “I don’t know!” “Go find Ewron then, what the hell!?” Foolish shakes his head and runs off to grab Ewron once again. “You know, im glad we got you back.” you smile at her “Thank you, i missed being back. You think this will really go?” she nods “Of course it will. It has to.” you nod “I feel good, so i believe it is.” she took a big jacket, bundled it up and placed it under your head “Thank you.” she nods and continues working.

Ewron and foolish on the other hand… “They told us not to start that shit now. You better finish up your plans with these guards then immediately go see them, no argument there.” he nods “Fine, fine. I will tell them we can strike another day, my family can wait…” he then steps back into the guards main room and tells them to prepare for another day. He didn’t wanna argue with you, he will still respect your rules and by the end of the day he still works for you. Things got a little out of control for him and he needed Foolish to tell him exactly what he told him, to stop, he would’ve hit that other castle already but he needed to know when from you. He needed to see you, he started heading back to his cellar as quick as he can whilst still chatting with foolish “Are they better?” “Here and there, seems like the cure will take a bit longer but we did say that.” he sighs, how can something not visible hurt someone this bad? “You know, you get there on the right time. The guards don’t know the why i started saying we would have to start a war. Maybe it would’ve started if i mentioned what happened or who did it, now they’ll think im crazy.” the tall man with a shark tail started to chuckle, it was true. You are that important to them. “Yeah…it’s alright though! keeping them on their toes. It’s good that they’ll subconsciously know that war may start sometime soon.” the other man nods, Foolish somehow always saw the positive side of situations, realistically Ewron only assumed it was because he already knew how things went. He has been here for three years now & fully trust’s you, this isn’t the first war and it surely isn’t the last one.

Finally when they both arrive to his cellar and see you, you finally have some color “Your majesty! you look better now.” you look at him and smile a little “Yes, all thanks to everyone here. I still feel weak but i can talk a bit better now and can at least sit up.” he smiles and takes your hand “I promise you, those people will get their revenge. Nothing will get past me now.” you shake your head “I know they will but remember our main objective. We are kind and peaceful here, once we are done with them we go back to who we were, yeah?” everyone in the room nods, of course they know. You look at Ewron and can’t help but feel appreciation, you haven’t had someone care for you like this in so long, let alone a guard of yours…they really wanted him to be bad guy but the man you see and has trusted for a bit now is nothing like the man they described. He cares so much about people, especially you. You can’t help but look at him and smile, you really are starting to feel good.

Time has passed since anything has happened, it is now nighttime and Tina & Foolish had left to do their own things, by your request. You feel good now, way way better than you did in the morning and the day after. Ewron of course stuck by your side but that is his job after all, so nothing really has changed. You sit up and take a look around his cellar, now that you can clearly see things now “You made this place look so much better than i expected.” he chuckles “Thank you, your majesty” “Is that all i am?” “What?” “the ‘your majesty’ all the time from you.” “That’s your title, i can’t call you anything else.” “But i want you to.” he turns around again and looks at you with such confusion on his face, cute. “I love my title, i love it when people call me that but you. You are different to me, have you not noticed?” he shakes his head “Your- I- no…i have not. I have been focused on other things to keep my mind off of you.” “What?” he sighs, turns his back towards you “I apologize, that was disrespectful of me and shouldn’t have told you.” “No, Ewron. I had a suspicion, you blushed the first day we met. Doesn’t that make things obvious from there on out?” he stiffened, stood there like a rock for a moment “Im that obvious?” you chuckle “A little, i didn’t mind.” it stays quiet for a moment, all you can hear are the crickets and frogs outside now. “You know we…can’t do anything about that, right?” he closes his eyes, you still can’t fully see him but he started looking down “I know. I tried not to let my feelings get to me but…you. You are something captivating. Something i desire my every waking moment. I- im sorry, i can show myself out.”

“No! no. Please don’t leave me. I also need you, i need you by my side. My guard, my Ewron. You will stay with me, no matter what happens.” he nods and you both look at each other “Come closer” you whisper, he hears you and steps closer to you & you take his hand “I want people to know what you are to me, how important you are to me. How willing are you for a big change?” he stares at you once more “I am 100% willing for anything, i will do anything for you.” you start kissing his hand, his arm, his shoulder, his neck then his cheek then stay there for a moment and whisper to him “After our fight i can arrange things for us, i don’t want anyone to say anything to you or for everyone to make up some rumor. You know how important your new title would be correct?” he nods “You don’t think we are going too quick?” he shakes his head “I understand everything. Real question is, are you sure about this?” you slowly nod “Im sure.” he holds your face “You trust me that much? you accepted me, who works with dark magic and you still trust me with such an important thing. Why? i don’t understand.” “Because…someone who was close to me used to do the same and they were the most trustworthy person ever. People who work with such power can’t lie or horrible things will happen to those close to them. I believe that, to whoever you lie to would only mean you’re putting me at risk. I trust that you won’t ever do that.” his hands feel warm on your cold cheeks, he stared at you trying to process everything “You can trust me.” “Good.” you both stand there, he’s still holding your face, you can’t kiss him directly because he would get infected. You aren’t fully healed yet but you feel so alive with him, right there by your side.

You ask him to take you back to your room, you could now somewhat walk but you need him to hold you by his side, as you both slowly walk there late at night you can’t help but focus on how strong his lavender smell is, how natural and normal it feels. You can get used to this, to him. Technically you have but maybe in a closer proximity. You two finally arrive to your room and the first thing you do is decide to shower, a warm shower and your comfiest pjs is what you need. After you do so carefully, you look at yourself in the mirror before fully dressing up. You notice how there’s a slight darker shade going through your veins, the radiation got you good. They obviously couldn’t notice that the other day but how didn’t you notice before it fully hit you? you decide to let all of that go as you are exhausted and still need more rest. You get dressed, brush your teeth & slowly step back out of the bathroom. Ewron was sitting by a chair right next to the door to make sure you were fine all throughout that and even to catch you if anything happens as you step out “Everything okay?” you nod holding onto the door frame “Yes, i just feel exhausted still.” he gets up, puts his hand on your back to gently guide you to your bed then tucks you in “Sleep well, your majesty.” you smile as you close your eyes and feel him kiss your forehead, having rooms that were side by side was the most perfect thing ever. You could just hit the wall and he could hear you or vise versa.

Feeling the sun shining on your face and it actually feeling good was the best thing that has happened to you since getting sick, yes it’s only been three days but it felt nice. You hear a soft knock and immediately see him enter your room with breakfast, you sit up and smile up at him “You didn’t have to bring it here.” he smiles then shrugs “I wanted to. How are you feeling? is the sun bothering you? do you need some air?” you shake your head as you grab a piece of toast with butter made by your own people who love doing their job. You could tell. “Woke up feeling better than ever, feeling the sun on my face was all i needed.” he sits on the seat he left next to your bed a few days ago and looks at you. Checking if you seemed ill or if you’re physically hurt in any way “Good. Good, im happy you’re! that’s all i expected from you, you’re such a strong person.” you just keep smiling, him by your side in the morning with your usual breakfast was perfect, yeah it was something that’s already made for you but he brought it up. And that means a lot to you. “Obviously thanks to your potions & how Foolish and Tina helped you. We should repay them for that” “Already did that” “I had a feeling. They are good friends, im glad they brought you here.” “Me too”

You prepare for the day after chatting with Ewron all day then sit by him once again, you two have done nothing else since then, only a few small things, so you decided that it was time. “We have to plan the attack. I feel way better than i did a few days ago and they must think i’m the weakest person ever right now so…planning to hit them now wouldn’t hurt.” he nods and pulls out this small map of where the other castle is, perfect for you to mark where some of your guards can go, him telling you about secret paths and so much more. He knows this place so well that you start to feel bad, yes attacking another castle’s majesty was penalty but by the end of the day they’re family… why hurt them back when all your people does is be peaceful and kind. That’s what you’ve been taught. “Ewron..?” “Hm?” he looks at you after he had been staring at the map for awhile now “Is this a good idea?” “What do you mean? Of course it is. They hurt you.” “They are your family after all, hurting them back is even worse. It will only create this ongoing loop of fighting and hurting each other. I was never taught to do that and i can’t do that to my own family.” he just stares at you for a moment, in disbelief “They poisoned you with radiation, they hurt me by believing that the shit i did was horrible when they are the ones who do the most fucked up thing but you believe we can’t hurt them back even if it was a little bit?” “I only suggested because this isn’t what we are about! what is the problem about that? you think my final decision is to let them free? obviously not! i thought about your feelings, i thought about the fact that they are your still your family and wondered that maybe if we lock them in our cells they can change.” “The problem is that they can never change! they are idiots who- we were idiots who loved having the strongest power a person can hold meaning they won’t just change like how you’re saying it. It won’t work! when has that worked for you? tell me.” you look away and stay quiet “That isn’t my point.” “Oh it obviously was. Don’t be an idiot.” “Excuse you? i may have told you a few things earlier but that doesn’t mean you can go around calling me names. Respect me or you would also be out of here.” “You hate me for telling the truth” “I don’t hate you, im upset because you want destruction from a place that only wants peace. You want me to become a killer? is that who you think people should know me as?” “But you aren’t the one killing them though, that’s your problem! you’re so self centered. No one will blame you if you tell them your reasoning.” “I am not self centered! yes my guards, you, will be the ones doing it all but it will all go down to me. My name, my castle, my everything. You may think it’s as easy as just telling everyone other people just radiated me and i immediately send my people over. No, i want them to deal with something else, something worse.” “But you just said- you said you only wanted to lock them up in your cellars and wait for them change.” you get up and look out the window, taking a deep breath “Yes, i did. But did i say it will be in an easy way?” he gets up and steps slowly towards you, his steps sounding heavy right behind you. He stands a few inches away from you “What will you do?” “What do you think? many ways to get people to change.” “But you- your peace, your kindness. Your majesty.” “Ewron you’re new so you know nothing about my family.”

Ewron stood behind you, waiting to listen to your story. You take a deep breath “We have plenty of things hidden from the public eye, many of our current people have gone through a few of our things. Nothing too horrible or at least for them. We would get these people that would hurt anyone really, only now i changed it for those who only hurt me. We would get the people days after attacking and then put them in the cellars, it starts with normal stuff, no food, no water. Then later the cellar gets warmer, almost like fire all around it, they won’t be able to touch the metal bars or they will burn, they can barely scream because they have a dry throat plus no one would be able to hear them even if they did. Afterwards we walk in, give them one more chance and if they don’t accept it things would only get worse…” he stood behind you, holding his breath, feeling a little hot “You- you guys…did that?” you nod then turn to look at him “It often times work on the first try. But you never know how stubborn a person can be.” he turns away, you look at him somewhat nervously, trying to keep your composure “Ewron i didn’t, freak you out…right?” you notice his small head shake “The opposite of that. You…you being able to do all that is beautiful. It only attracted me more to you i just.” he takes another deep breath “I needed to regain my composure” he turns back to look at you “That was the hottest thing ever and if i hadn’t held myself back, god only knows what would’ve happened.” you bite your bottom lip, trying to hide a smile then nod “Good. So are you okay with that plan” “Absolutely, how would we get them?” “You will go, lead them towards…” you walk back to the map he had grabbed then point at a specific location further out of your castle “There. The area seems normal enough for them to think it isn’t anything bad, if by any chance they do know, then we have tranquilizers.” he grins and steps closer to you, moves his hands around your waist “You’re so attractive to me right now, you’re lucky i can’t just kiss you right now” you let out a giggle and tuck a piece of hair behind his ear “Soon enough, sweetie.” he presses a kiss on your neck then steps away again.

The next day’s plan was set, he was ready to go down to meet his family alone, after months of not seeing or talking to them. He greets them from a distance and tells them to follow him to a specific area because he doesn’t feel safe in their own castle anymore. “Ewron, you know we aren’t stupid right?” Multi tells him, he can sense a lot of things and obviously knowing Ewron for years only helped him notice his little habits or ways of doing things. “What do you mean? look at this place! isn’t gorgeous?” he spins around with his arms spread happily. They look around, theres no visual traps, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t any. “What do you want from us? we already told you.” “I wanted to apologize.” They all cross their arms, looking at him annoyingly “I know what i did was wrong and leaving was a bad idea, it only showed me that only you guys would be the only ones that understand me!” “Ewron you wanted to take our lab subjects and turn them into these disgusting things. Not only that, you decided that it was fine to play with the uranium and spread it towards them as well! only made our progress slower.” “Oh that wasn’t even the worst thing ever! you have done way worse.” “Like what? we all have!” “You…radiated the leader of the Starfall castle, did you not?” The pale man with bright green hair stared at him, trying to study his face “Are they alive?” Ewron stares back at him, trying to hide his anger “Why do you care? was their death the only way for you to get back at me?” “Didn’t mean to, but it worked. Didn’t it?” he shakes his head “Unbelievable. What i did was harmless! you hurt a person that many people needed!” “They probably deserved it.” Multi shrugs, the others stayed silent. Watching the argument get worse and worse, Ewron cant help but wonder if hurting them all was really worth it when the problem was only him and multi but if he lets them go they would probably try to even kill Ewron. He takes a deep breath “Okay. You confessed to doing such a thing, to someone higher up than you will ever be and for what? pettiness?” Multi chuckles “Is that what you want to call it? Sure.”

Ewron then finally pulls on the switch that opens the trap door beneath them that lands them into the cellar, they are finally trapped and there you sat in front of the cell. “I did deserve it” you stand up, hands behind your back “I mean it hurt like hell but i have such amazing people surrounding me that they just knew how to help me, can you believe it?” “But- but how? that’s impossible!” you shrug “Who knows, i have a strong will to live too so maybe it was that.” they all stare, all different emotions. Ewron finally reappears “Yeah and i mean, i have stupid magic and ideas so helping them was horrible!” “Oh cmon, you did a lot of the hard work!” you both chuckled, Graf was the first to stand up “I can work for you, don’t leave me with them here. I know a lot of things, i promise you.” “I know, im sorry but i have to keep you here for a bit. My rules” he sighs and leans his head against the pole “Well, the cell will start to slowly change from time. So prepare for that.” You both start leaving scene, everyone else stayed quiet. Maybe a week will be fine enough for them.

You two finally arrived back to the castle, everything was beautiful and calm. You are fully healed now and the ones who hurt you are locked up. As you sat at your dinner table, Ewron by your side you couldn’t help but feel somewhat satisfied, you had him by your side and he fully accepted you. Accepted how messed up things can get behind the scenes & that’s someone you have been searching for so long “Hey, Ewron?” he nods and stands closer “We need to talk about something important that we discussed yesterday.” his mind goes through so many things, so much has happened. “Okay. Would you like me to go to the room?” you nod, finish eating and stand up. He stood there waiting, fidgeting, wondering what can it be. You finally stepped in and he takes a deep breath, you smile at him “Don’t be so nervous. Take a seat silly.” you sit down as well “Your majesty, what can i help you with today?” “Us.” his ears perk up “Us?” “I told you about change soon, when i got fully healed.” “Yes… how can i forget.” “Well, no i’m better. I was thinking what if we get married in a month?” he immediately turns bright red, eyes widened “Wh-what? next month? your majesty i-“ “Royal marriages tend to be quicker than normal ones but” you shrug “My own rules so i will do it in a month, is that okay with you? you don’t have to do this.” “I do, of course i do. It just caught me off guard” he chuckled, you smile “Then it’s settled. I will work on it for us. Of course in the meantime i hope your family will change.” his smile slightly drops “Yeah…i hope so too.”

Days go by as you plan for the big wedding, the transition of Ewron from guard to king overnight might startle many but the more you look into him, the more you realize he had lost so much. He used to be a prince then suddenly he became a guard with no family. Sure on paper it will only seem sad but on the outside you look at him, you sometimes notice how tired his eyes look or how his face looks after going to the cellars. He misses what him and his family used to have “How are they doing?” he sighs and sits on the edge of the bed “Better. They could be lying but at this point i don’t care, i want them out.” “I know, my love. I know, one more day. Alright?” he nods “I didn’t wanna put them in this position but it’s better than death.” “You’re right.” he leans in beside you, looking down at your photo book of wedding stuff “That one’s nice.” “You can’t decide for me, plus you aren’t even supposed to see it at first!” he chuckles and kisses your cheek “Fine, fine. I’m going to shower then im gonna go to bed, alright?” you nod and say your goodnight to him. You flip through pages and pages of different designs for your wedding, the outfits, what you were gonna wear. You mark down which ones you liked more then send it away, they knew your measurement’s, everything will be easy.

Ewron walks back in, grinning, drying his hair with his towel “Look at you.” “Hm?” “I just can’t wait to see this every night for the rest of my life” “You were already going to if i didn’t fall for you this hard.” “True, but why couldn’t we do things secretly? less work.” you rolls your eyes “I have nothing to hide. If anyone has a real issue then they can leave.” he chuckles and sits right next to you this time “Mm is that right?” you look at him “It is.” he’s grinning now, hand on the side of your neck “I like this side of you, why don’t you ever use it?” you shrug “Its a better look to be how i am now than how i can really be.” “That’s right?” “Mhm.” he slowly moves to kiss your neck, you put everything away and move closer to him “I missed you all day” you whisper “I missed you too. They drain me sometimes” “I figured, everything will be better eventually.” you move a little more down and kiss his cheek, his neck as well. “Mm” he moves you under him, kisses your cheek as well then slowly kisses your lips, he needed that, you needed that. You both have been waiting for a bit now and waiting for the wedding day just wasn’t it. The kiss felt perfect, it felt like fireworks exploding all around you and the world was just spinning around. You put your hands on his face and kept kissing him deeper, needing him closer.

That night ended well, you needed him next to you, kissing you, waking up felt amazing as you two were cuddled up. Something you have been wanting for ages with anyone, he was that perfect anyone. You looked at the clock and get up to start with your day, give out the wedding stuff and Ewron did the same. Did his job, went to see his family for a moment, worked with his magic then prepare for the big day. You don’t feel as nervous as you should for the wedding day, maybe you will day of but with him you just knew that everything will be just fine.

You visit his family every so often, Graf is kind, he always has been. Nexe & Multi sometimes are okay with you but multi might hold a grudge between the two of you to which…it makes sense. But in your defense he did try to kill you. You sit across from them, this time around the cellars were calming down. The week was almost over anyway “Listen, im glad you guys are here. Death is such a rough way to fix things and would just create this ongoing loop, can’t we just be nice to each other & forget we all did any of this?” Multi looks at you from where he’s sitting, after all he was the one with the whole lab “Oh yes because holding us hostage for days will just make me wanna be friends with you. Of course!!” he lets out a fake chuckle “Im not saying to be friends specifically but have some sort of alliance. I don’t know” you shrug “Plus with me and Ewron getting married i thought that in laws shouldn’t have such big drama” they stare at you confused for a second “Wait what?” Graf stands up and gets closer to the bars “What do you mean marriage?” your eyebrows furrow “Did Ewron not…tell you guys? i mean- you guys are invited, its on our list.” they all shake their heads, that exact moment Ewron walks in “You didn’t tell them about us getting married?” he stands there for a moment, completely stunned “I- well i- listen. I was going to after they were let out! Just making sure they were on our side completely.” “They hold grudges. They won’t ever be, we just need them to know that next time they do this to me it won’t be easy.” “Yes but- my point is, i don’t want them to ever hurt you. Trust me. Please” “I do! im only saying we need them sane enough for the wedding day and have to be let out by Sunday. Can you please just follow that order?” he nods “Of course, your majesty.” “Good. Now give them their food, i will be heading out for the day.” you tell them goodbye, kiss Ewron on the cheek then walk back to your castle.

They all look at him then laugh “Look at you! what a sweet little guard” Nexe teases him, he also laughs along then shakes his head “No, no. It’s my job! i work for them, that was our deal but in a month everything will change.” “Yeah and here you are having your family locked in a cage a month before” graf says as he finishes his meal. “You guys seriously gonna hate me for life over this, right?” they all pause, then shrug “We’ll think about it.” he nods and then silence fills the entire cellar, no noises whatsoever besides the ones a person could make. He thought if he were the one in here he would go insane, he sometimes feels bad for them or anyone who has been in here. He sighs, grabs their trays of food then leaves for the day.

Finally, day of letting them go has arrived, you stood there as you watched Ewron open the cellar doors slowly and you watch them step out into the fresh air “I know, it’s nice isn’t it?” they all nod “Now listen, im being nicer to you guys because we are gonna be family soon but. Keep in mind that once again, if you hurt him or me or anyone close to me there will be heavier consequences. I understand if you want to hate me more but…please just don’t mistake my kindness for weakness.” Multi looks at you then looks far off into the distance “For now, you should be fine. I will keep it at that.” you nod, it’s better than you expected. Graf actually decided to form an alliance so he might be around more often and as for Nexe well…he’s always worked with Multi and stayed by his side all the time so, of course he has a similar opinion. “You can head back to your places, if you seriously consider anything with us. Let us know.” “Maybe not, thanks for the offer though” you roll your eyes and watch them leave and go further into the forest pathway.

“Ewron?” “Yes, your majesty?” you turn to look at him then hold both of his hands “You followed my every order, right?” he nods, pulling you closer “Good. Thank you for trusting me” “Thank you for trust me. Im glad you talked me into this instead.” “You sure?” he nods, you weren’t even sure. But as long as everything seemed fine then…why argue over nothing?

After that the rest was all wedding planning, invitations being sent everywhere and anywhere. You did know a lot of people and your own family insisted on making the wedding bigger than it already was, which was unexpected you thought that they would hate on the relationship, disapprove Ewron all because he was your guard but they didn’t. They talked to him and liked them the way you did, his strong personality, how charismatic he can be. They also heard how he was originally a prince so you believe it was mostly over that fact but you don’t put much thought into it, it can be over anything really but you didn’t care. You would be with him, the one man you truly ever liked, everyone else was too much for you, too fake but he was perfect in your eyes. He knows a lot and he is kind to your own friends and family, gets along with anyone and that’s one important quality in a person you’d spend the rest of your life with. The days get closer and time feels shorter but also longer, you wondered if you told past you that they were gonna get married in a few days, they would freak out. It was truly an unbelievable thing but you liked that, it was a surprise and that’s why you’re more excited than nervous.

Day of is here. You got your wedding outfit on, everything you need and got the something new, something blue, something old, something borrowed from your family. The day was beautiful, the trees, the sky, everything felt perfect. You looked at yourself in the mirror with the bouquet and smile, this is finally happening, after going through hell and back, after thinking this would never happen. It finally did and you just couldn’t wait for the ceremony to start, only a few more minutes.

You hear the song starting to play, your mom hugs you and tells you it’s time. You walk towards your spot and she stands beside you to walk you down the aisle, the doors open and you immediately see him and your heart jumps. He has this beautiful suit on, you almost ran to him forgetting you were walking down the aisle with your own mother. As you slowly walk down you notice a few people there, your closest friends, his friends…his family. They did get here by the end of the day, you almost started tearing up. It truly was a huge day. You finally arrive at the altar and take his hands & you let the pastor talk, it all feels like background noise as you stare into his eyes with the biggest smile on your face. “Do you take him…” “Yes.” “Do you take them…” “Yes.” “You may now kiss!” you immediately grabs you and kisses you as if it were the last day ever. You both almost fell over but all you hear is cheers from your family and friends around you. You both run down the aisle holding hands then get into the getaway car, you wave everyone goodbye for now and sit beside him, both of you smiling like idiots. “We did that.” “We did.” you both laugh then kiss once more “I promise i will still protect you.” “I know.” “You saw who were there?” you nod “They actually came. You think they’d be at the after party?” “I can only hope some more. Id like to talk to them.” you hold his hand and lean your head on his shoulder “I hope so too, sweetie.” he kisses the top of your head “It’ll be okay. I have you here and for a lifetime.” you giggle and nod “That’s right!” “This is unreal” “It is. Would past you be surprised by this?” “Oh he absolutely would be. Come on.” you both laugh again. Everything felt like a movie, very sweet ending with the person you love the most. In this lifetime you won, you won because you had him and wished to have him in every other lifetime.
