I have so much love and respect for women who are honest about their own loneliness but also find the good in it like when audrey hepburn said “I have to be alone very often. I’d be quite happy if I spent from Saturday night until Monday morning alone in my apartment. That’s how I refuel” and when charlotte bronte said “I care for myself. The more solitary, the more friendless, the more unsustained I am, the more I will respect myself” and when jenny slate said “I think I’ve come to terms with the fact that there will always be a ribbon of loneliness running through who I am. But that’s why I want to do comedy, and why I want to connect with people. You can use that ribbon to be a part of a finer tapestry, or you can choke yourself out with it! Your choice!” and when mary oliver said “whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh & exciting - over & over announcing your place in the family of things”
Truthfully one of the most insane things to me that tumblr users have ever done is transform Dracula from a book about the Victorian scooby gang trying to defeat a vampire into a tragic time loop (which in turn makes the story even more of a gothic horror in my opinion) via the existence of Dracula Daily
Like what do you mean every single year the Harkers, the suitor squad and Van Helsing are forced to relive the worst year of their life
Sure they win in the end but over and over they are forced to loose the people they love, be striped of their personhood and fight what must have seemed like an impossible battle.
And nobody is even aware of this time loop except us and we just feed into this narrative. “Oh my friend Jonathan has just sent me another letter let’s hope this goes better than last year ;)”
And from a literary analysis standpoint this whole change is inane because it frames the book in an entirely new light. There is a meta layer of horror being applied to the book that was never possible before.
How many years will they suffer like this before someone realizes something is wrong? Before someone gets déjà vu just a few too many times? Before Jonathan and Mina realize they don’t know what their son looks like all grown up? How many years before they are free?
Spider-Man by Lee Gatlin
okay but how is CEDRIC. FUCKING. DIGGORY. NOT BEING WRITTEN ABOUT??? He's canonically the golden boy of hogwarts, girls love him, he's a brilliant son, HUFFLEPUFF REPRESENTATION??? ROBERT PATTISON PLAYED HIM??? HE'S KIND, SMART, CHARISMATIC, AND I HAVE TO BEG FOR FICS OF HIM LIKE A STARVING VICTORIAN CHILD WITH MEASLES.
Every year I watch that white boy go, with no way of warning him. No way of letting him know. Helplessly watching him devour his paprika chicken before journeying the road to his doom. Don’t go, white boy. Don’t go.

It’s not very Slytherin of Snape to take stances against lookism, classism and popularity. In fact it’s very anti-Slytherin I'd say, and much more a Hufflepuff thing.
On twitter we were told that Snape doesn’t try to look handsome because he believes that looks are irrelevant
In Magic Awakened (non canon I know but it fits his character) we're told that he was using a humble-looking cauldron because he wanted to show that only effort and intelligence mattered, that it was about the potioneer and not the cauldron
He does value hardwork and intelligence/ingeniosity in his class (Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw)
He's so bothered by injustice and violations of rules that he becomes the "annoying" teacher antagonist who tries to bar Harry's way
He still lives in Spinner's End
He literally gives a speech against "foolish wandwaving" and flashy spells, he despises brawn over brain, reminds Harry every time that his popularity doesn’t make him superior and that he sees him for who Harry really is behind the perfect hero image (he's biased but there's intent to not follow the crowd there)
Oh boy he loathed Lockhart
He hates cowardice and loathes being called a coward, he shows bravery and Dumbledore thinks that maybe he was Sorted too soon
I'm sure there are other examples
A Slytherin uses injustice to their advantage, and thrives in it even. But Snape goes exactly against that. He could have taken the easy way by caring for his looks or moving out to a decent home, for one. For the other things, it’s hard to think of him not doing that, simply because those traits define him.
Snape is cunning and an excellent spy and everything, but he's either an excentric/unconventionnal Slytherin or just bad at being a Slytherin.
He doesn’t use the injustice of the world to his advantage. He defies it constantly and tries to undo the social hierarchy where he can. I don’t see a Slytherin doing that. As I said that makes him look like a Hufflepuff or even a Ravenclaw.
hey hey hey!
The world needs your art, your voice, your dedication, more than ever before!
AND THEY ARE DONE!
What should I draw next? I was thinking either all the different friend groups or the time skip versions! Let me know what you all think
Gothic literature must be cursed to forever be misinterpreted by mainstream public because how did this happen
Dracula book: an evil count who only sees the world as a resource to be drained for his own pleasure is stopped by the group of people who deeply care for each other
Dracula in media: a tragic romantic hero, main love interest of one of the protagonists who must be liberated from her dull little life
Frankenstein book: any human has capacity for evil when completely abandoned and shunned by the world and the people who brought him into it
Frankenstein in media: don't play God because it's against nature's laws
Jekyll and Hyde book: repression and only caring about external appearances can cause your worst impulses to indulge themselves in dangerous ways if ignored for too long
Jekyll and Hyde in media: what if there was two of the same guy but one of them was evil and gross?
Frankenstein (2025)
