EMMA D'ARCY as RHAENYRA TARGARYEN HOUSE OF THE DRAGON 2.07 The Red Sowing
The greatest irony of Tywin's legacy is that for all of his obsession to prove he wasn't like his father Tytos, he ended up recreating him in his three children:
-Undereducated Cersei because of her gender, just like Tytos wasn't raised for lordship due to being a third son.
-Tries to force Jaime into being Lord of Casterly Rock, a post he doesn't want or is interested in being, just like Tytos when he was forced to be Lord of Casterly Rock even though he didn't want it and wasn't ready for it.
-Abused Tyrion so much to the point Tyrion is so desperate for any kind of recognition, just like Tytos was so desperate to get any validation and approval due to his father Gerold not giving any approval or recognition to him.
[Part 2/2] Queen Rhaenyra the Cruel
.
''Many Kingslanders had welcomed the queen’s return…but love and hate are two faces of the same coin, as fresh heads began appearing daily upon the spikes above the city gates, accompanied by ever more exacting taxes, the coin turned. The girl that they once cheered as the Realm’s Delight had grown into a grasping and vindictive woman, men said, a queen as cruel as any king before her.'' (George R.R. Martin, Fire and Blood)

The realm’s delight
Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen
Rhaenyra had her family's Valyrian looks, wearing her silver-gold hair in a long braid in the manner of Queen Visenya Targaryen. Rhaenyra was a precocious child, bright and bold and beautiful. At the age of fourteen, Rhaenyra was declared by her uncle, Prince Daemon Targaryen, to be the most beautiful maiden in all the Seven Kingdoms. Rhaenyra had a large bosom, but never lost the weight she gained from pregnancies, and she had grown stout and thick of waist at the age of twenty after her third pregnancy. Rhaenyra was proud and stubborn, and there was a certain petulance to her small mouth. Though she could be charming, Rhaenyra was quick to anger and never forgot a slight. She resented her stepmother, Queen Alicent Hightower, but was "fond and more than fond" of Lady Laena Velaryon. Rhaenyra always dressed richly, favoring purple and maroon velvets and golden Myrish lace in intricate patterns. Her bodice often glittered with pearls and diamonds, and there were always rings on her fingers. Whenever she was anxious, she would turn them compulsively around her fingers
Rhaenyra Targaryen (my vision of her young version from the books) I decided to revive my Tumblr account and upload my illustrations here. Hope it will work out eventually.
HOUSE OF THE DRAGON 2.04 'The Red Dragon and the Gold'
EWAN MITCHELL as AEMOND TARGARYEN | House of the Dragon S2E4
heavy is the head
one thing about asoiaf is that it frequently invites you to have sympathy for characters who've carried out varying degrees of morally repulsive acts (most apparent with pov characters such as theon, cersei, tyrion, and jaime but also sandor, joffrey, and even viserys). and most of these characters have received some equivalent of, what may look like 'narrative comeuppance' : theon flayed by ramsay, cersei made to perform her walk of atonement, tyrion sold as a slave, jaime losing his hand, joffrey's painful, drawn out death etc. except the scenes really aren't framed like that since the series doesn't seem to buy into that idea. all these incidents are not just deserts but moments of horrible injustice against these characters. and that's a little series thesis statement in itself, no neat category of monsters whose misdeeds can be addressed by a single moment of karmic justice but people like you and me who hurt others and have been hurt and continue on living. it's saying, here's this person who is capable of great cruelty influenced and motivated by their experiences with the world, but will you also hold understanding and sympathy in your heart for when the world is cruel to them in return? given what most fandom discourse looks like... the answer to that question is unfortunately a resounding no for a lot of readers.

Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen & Vermithor The Bronze Fury
Meleys, called the Red Queen, was a she-dragon of House Targaryen, first claimed by Princess Alyssa and then by her niece, Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, the Queen Who Never Was. Her scales were scarlet red, and the membranes of her wings pink.
