Auto Mechanics Pose Dramatically to Recreate Renaissance Paintings
Photographer Freddy Fabris has paid homage to the great Renaissance master painters using his camera instead of a brush. This unique tribute—aptly called The Renaissance Series—fuses contemporary culture with the dramatic styling of the original portraits.
kakashi is only two years older than me. im going to shit myself. this is what it means to be a grownup. i dont know ANY jutsus and i only have two years to learn over a THOUSAND
remember when kakashi seemed absolutely ancient to us wow
I used to work for an airline company where I’d take people’s calls and help them with anything from problems with their tickets to difficulties navigating the airline’s website.
I was one of the few people who didn’t mind angry customers all that much because I knew they weren’t angry at ME, they were angry with the AIRLINE and I just happened to be the person they got contact with. They couldn’t hurt me over the phone, so I’d always just let them rage and shout until they had said what they wanted to say. They were always way easier to work with afterwards and oftentimes the problem was quite simple to fix on my part.
One guy called and was extremely upset because he had gotten angry after losing his luggage and had shouted at one of my colleagues who had hung up on him (we were allowed to hang up on shouty customers).
He ranted and raged at me for a bit and as soon as he had said what he wanted to say I calmly asked “Didn’t my colleague give you the number for lost luggage?”
The change in him was immediate. “N-No, no one did”
“I’m sorry about that. Do you have something to write with? I’ll give it to you now”
His anger completely deflated and instead he sounded sad and embarrassed. He got the number, thanked me and hung up.
Let’s just say that I learned that I like and tolerate humans a lot more than I thought during my time at the airline. Of course he was upset that he had lost his luggage. Of course he only got more upset when my colleague wouldn’t help him. Upset people need to vent. I learned that as long as they don’t get personal and insult ME I don’t mind them shouting at me for a bit about the company (I later found out I don’t mind it face to face either) Get personal and I clamp right up, keep your anger professional, so to speak, and I’ll do my best to help. I’m the one with all the cards after all. I’ve been in situations where the people with all the power didn’t take my situation seriously either until I wanted to scream. Coming out the gate swinging and shouting is a bit much but we’ll figure it out.
Unfortunately I was a bit too happy to help. I didn’t take enough calls for my boss’s liking because I spent too much time with people on the phone. I don’t regret it though. A lot of people were super nice and would tell me interesting stories while we waited for the system to do it’s thing.
My favorite was an old woman who had recently retired and decided to travel to as many countries as possible. She had just been to Colombia and was incredibly smitten with the culture but also upset about the way they treated the Indians. Apparently she had watched a rally where Indians were protesting the government, she had asked what was going on and after talking with people for a bit someone had placed a big sign she couldn’t read in her hands and suddenly this old Danish lady was walking with a sea of highland Indians without really understanding what was going on other than how poor and mistreated they were. She loved them so so much. To contribute something to the conversation I told her my housemate was a highland indian from Colombia too. She got very excited about that, and before she hung up she told me “And say hello to your housemate from me!”
My housemate was very confused when I said hello from a random old lady.
Seeing how long this post got I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to post it, but I like reading these kinds of stories from other people so some of you might enjoy it too.
