I really liked learning about Theresa because initially you think the Thousand Years of Psychic Suffering Crown That Turns All Kings Mad failed to break her because she's saint, matriarch, and messiah rolled into one, and then when we actually see her as a character and not as a legend revered by others she says shit like "Actually, my 10 year old daughter can bear the Thousand Years of Psychic Suffering. She's built different."

It's interesting how Stronghold Protocol, despite nominally being a dinky side event and you would expect would have a similarly dinky story justification for a new autobattler mode-

The Doctor notices this, and Kal'tsit shares this information after isolating the two of you even from Amiya and Closure, after discussing that the command chain needs to be more robust and not all work under the same umbrella.

What is she trying to plan for that requires having a defense mechanism, for Rhodes Island, that can work from internal sabotage, but work outside the existing command chain? And why does she have to whisper it in the dark?

I think that it alludes to the fact that any singular person, even the Doctor (Babel) and Closure (Talulah's escape), can be points of failure in the system defense, but past that I'm not aware of what it could mean. We know it's in the present by virtue of Amiya's outfit, but not much more.

One of my favorite things about Silence as a character is her propensity for absolutely WILD swings that only sometimes succeed

Some examples:

— POISONING IFRIT, her adopted daughter, by way of a fake death pill disguised as Ifrit’s favorite flavor of candy so she could fake Ifrit’s death and smuggle her out of Rhine she wouldn’t be subjected to any further experimentation.

Result: Catastrophic failure, because Ifrit only ate half the candy, because she wanted to share it with Saria. This was one of the factors that caused the Diabolic Crisis and all the fallout afterwards.

— Masterminding a prison break to free Mountain from his wrongful imprisonment in Mansfield State Prison. Notably, Silence was completely unaware of any importance Mountain had to anyone, she only knew that he was someone wronged by Rhine Lab. And that was enough reason for her to help.

Result: Ultimately successful, the initial jailbreak only failed because of Jesselton, but then Saria, who happened to be there undercover, utterly demolished him, allowing Mountain’s escape to proceed as planned.

— Injecting Transmitter into her body to turn herself into a “hub” so she could track down Kristen Wright.

Result: Successful, Silence was able to find the location of Kristen’s lair. More happened afterwards, but that’s besides the point

The point is, Silence might look like a mousey scientist/doctor from the outside, but on the inside, she has the soul of a colossus.
