It's the start of a new year and I'm still between jobs. Currently working on getting unemployment and disability benefits. In the mean-time any help is welcome

My mom's wallet got stolen, including all her debit and credit cards. It's a solvable problem but it's a bit scary financially right now so any help would be greatly appreciated

Just a quick update: My mom got her new cards a little while ago, so that situation is mostly sorted (the old ones were of course disabled immediately after they were stolen). I called the Social Security offices a couple weeks ago and they let me know they'd send me a letter letting me know what documents I need to give them if any. I haven't gotten the letter yet but I'm hopeful about it. I'm still unemployed but I am doing a little better financially thanks to the donations I got, so thank you all very much!

I thought I wouldn't have to reblog this again but unfortunately I am still unemployed and Social Security hasn't gotten back to me yet so I have still have zero income coming in. With the all the illegal funding freezes going on there's no telling if or when I'll be able to get my SSI, so any help would be appreciated while I search for a employment

My bank account has been steadily losing money to little things over the course of the past few months. I've gotten connected to some people trying to help me with getting a job and/or disability but it could take months. If you have enough money you should give it to Palestinian charities and gofundmes, but if you have a bit extra to spare I'd appreciate the help

I only just now finally managed to start a new application for SSI and am finally getting hooked up with new job prospects. I have only a few dozen dollars left in my checking account and less than 3k in savings. Any help would be appreciated.

it's very frustrating seeing otherwise well-structured posts about media literacy and critical thinking bookended with statements about "nowadays", "nobody has literacy anymore", "this generation is so anti-intellectual", and the like, unquestioningly falling into better past fallacies.

Do we really think the 80s and its Satanic Panic were better at critical thinking? what about the 40s? the Victorian era? societies have always had problems with critical thinking and literacy, because most societies have dealt with propaganda, corrupt leadership, difficulty providing education (due to poverty or discrimination or other issues), and/or people who resist critical thinking (due to privilege or circumstance or what have you). we can criticize media trends without pulling a "well back in the GOOD OLD DAYS" about it.

Pre-menstrual depression is always depicted as like "He He! I had a box of icecream bars and cried while watching the Titanic!" But in reality, it's more like, "I'm standing the edge of an abyss. There is nothing good inside of me, I'm filled with rage and desperation."

I went to my doctor after I was walking to work one morning and saw a bus coming and actually took a step to throw myself in front of it before I pulled myself together. Later that day I started bleeding and was literally like someone flipped a switch and I didn't feel suicidal anymore. Which made me feel like I was loosing my mind because who goes from 'I want to throw myself in front of a bus' to 'I'm perfectly fine' just like that? I did some research, I went to the doctor and described my feelings, he looked me in the eye and gently asked what I thought it was, I said I'd read about PMDD and I thought it might be that, he said 'I think so too' and wrote a prescription.

If, before you get your period, you feel furiously angry, suicidal, irritated by every tiny thing to the point you want to murder someone, stuck in a black hole you'll never escape from. If you are experiencing extreme emotions for what seems like no good reason, especially if you get your period and those extreme emotions just go away. You're probably not just PMSing , you may have PMS's feral big sister PMDD and it's treatable.

Also this is something that can develop as you get older. So if you used to get normal PMS but what I wrote above sounds more like your norm now then don't just write it off as regular PMS.

She said "alright let's do this " and when I asked what she told me she was going to give me a bit of a makeover and put me in one of her dresses and if i liked it then good. I was nervous and asked what if I did like it would she still be attracted to me. She just responded with "Baby you know I'm bi, guy or girl you're still mine." Her words reassured me honestly i love her so much.

Anyways she finished the make up, fitted a wig on me perfectly and got me in a dress and even helped me put a bra on and stuff in a little so i could see what breasts would kinda look like on me. Now I expected to see myself in the mirror, laugh this off and move on right, but I didn't. She did an unbelievable job, like I looked like I had been born a woman, and when I saw myself in the mirror for the first time in my entire life, I liked what I saw. I probably stared at myself for a good 10 minutes before she finally asked me something. She asked what I wanted to be called. After a few seconds I said Jessie, I always like the name Jessie. She whispered in my ear "well Jessie, you look beautiful." And that was it, I knew this was who i wanted to be.

I'm nervous now though, my friends will accept it but my family are, well let's just say not very progressive. But this is what I want.

So me and my girlfriend, (Who has officially agreed to disclose her name lol) Emily, had gone shopping for me to get me outfits and the like. Earlier today i put on one of those outfits and officially faced the world as Jessie for the first time.

To say I was nervous would be an understatement. We went to our local mall and I was almost shaking, thankfully Emily calmed me down and said if anyone said anything mean to me she'd handle it, then playfully threw up her hands like a boxer lol. We stepped inside and started walking around going in stores and I noticed something, no one was staring. Like at all. I live in an area that still has issues with LGBTQ people so I was afraid of staring or aggressive people. But none of that happened. People greeted me, the store workers were kind and nobody looked at me like I was weird. I felt comfortable, and Emily even said she saw someone check me put, though i doubt that.

This was unbelievable to me and honestly I felt like myself. I feels nice that I can go out without worrying about Judging eyes.

I've increasingly been encountering cis "allies" saying they're replacing "woman" in their vocabulary with "AFAB" to be more inclusive of transmascs, e.g. if they're talking about people who get sexually harassed by men. I used to think this was a well-meaning position born of ignorance, but I've discovered that you press them on whether they think transfems get sexually harassed by men, amazingly they will often admit that they know they do. You then ask them to reconsider why they refer to "AFABs", and they just repeat that they want to be inclusive of transmascs.

The only way their contradictory behaviour makes sense is if they understand that transfems are marginalised in much the same ways as cis women, but they just don't care about it. Their solidarity does not extend to us.

the thing about everyone's desire to immediately call an ambulance when they encounter a psychotic person is that it's just perpetuation of ugly laws. it's not for our benefit and it never was. we are inconvenient to their framing of society and psychotic people make apsychotic people "uncomfortable." the classic way to deal with disabled people whose presence makes you uncomfortable is the whisk them away to institution.

on my post about not calling the cops on psychotic people who are just trying to exist in public and have a conversation everyone and their mother is saying "yeah! call an ambulance instead!" why? why does someone talking in a different way about something you don't understand demand an ambulance? examine this. is there an actual threat to them going on or are you just uncomfortable?
