i love when the vks and Ben get into the cottage, and they hear Chad banging on the door, Harry follows Ben to the closest door, he positions himself behind Ben to defend Ben if necessary.

its the little things (aka D3 Harry mini analysis)

like here, when Ben goes to look inside the closet, you can see Harry sliding into place, Harry does this before anyone else

Jay doesnt move, Carlos doesnt move, Mal doesnt even try to tell Ben not to open it, but Harry HARRY, Mr i wanna hook the king, is the first to step up and be at Ben’s back, to protect him.

and then when both Ben and Harry see its chad, someone who isnt a threat (supposedly) Harry relaxes, he straightens up from his attack stance, Ben has acknowledged Chad isnt a threat (with how Ben’s body relaxes and how calmly he responds to chad) and so Harry relaxes

so Harry goes from protect/attack mode to passive protect. he stays at Ben’s back, keeping his eyes on chad just in case, he stands there in a way that tells me “make one wrong move and i will hurt you”

like LOOK AT HOW BIG HARRY LOOKS COMPARED TO CHAD AND BEN, i know its forced perspective, but Harry looks fucking massive, he is a guard, a right hand man, a protector. his head is tilted down to give that menacing stare, his arms are ready to grab or hit, his legs are ready to launch himself to protect. at this point, for all we know, Harry is still meh about Ben, but he knows Ben is going to let them stay, he has to, they are helping save Auradon. and he knows Uma now sees Ben as an allay, so Harry protects him, he protects everyone.

Harry doesn’t lose this protective stance until Chad rushes out of the house and Ben walks past, Harry fully relaxes, he laughs, he turns his eyes away, and he closes the door. 

but Harry is the last one out of the house, he stays back, he is still the protector, he keeps his eyes on everyone to make sure everyone is safe, he looks behind to check the cottage again, to check on carlos, he looks at everyone, he keeps his eyes on Uma the longest, Harry is a protector and i love that about him. (also he does a lil flip with his hook that ive somehow never noticed and omfg you cutie pie i love you)

god Thomas does such a damn good job all this from simple body acting.

CYOA Chapter 2: Fuck the Cameras

You throw yourself against the railing of the newly-installed balcony. You grin at Evie, your best friend, who’s up here with you on the newly-installed lookout tower that gives the Isle its first real view of the bridge to Auradon. The bridge that you built. 

Sure, your every Isle-kid instinct is screaming at you to grab as many kids as possible and run, but you’re not here for that today. You’re here to take just four kids home with you, and yeah, you don’t even know how to take care of yourself sometimes, but you’ve been pushed into a position of power here and if you let it go something even worse will happen, so even though you don’t know what to do with all this power that’s been handed to you, you have to hold tight to it. Evie is your best friend, and you love her more than you love yourself sometimes, so when she nods at you to keep going, you keep going. 

“Listen up!” you shout across the crowd of VKs and villains. “We’re here to celebrate the first VK day! We’re getting you all off this rock!” 

Evie flashes you her best publicity smile. Oops. That wasn’t quite the prepared speech that you meant to start off with. 

“What Mal means is that we’re here to announce the first four VKs who are coming over with us to Auradon! We’ve been reading all your applications, and we’re sure that you four will be a shining example of what it means to choose goodness.” 

The crowd roars. 

“Now, I know you’re excited, and we are too!” Evie recites, picture-perfect and beaming at the Auradon News Network camera that’s hovering via drone in front of the crowd. Her smile is perfect, a miracle of illegally applied magic and contraband whitening strips. Her shiny new leathers gleam in the light from the cameras, and your blood boils all over again at the sight. The kingdom has finally agreed to let you bring over four new VKs, but the network decided that your home was too dangerous to risk a real live Auradonian reporter on. 

You can save four children. 

While hundreds starve in their place. And the reporters will sit, safe in their newsroom, delivering the news that your classmates and their parents will laugh about later. 

“Mal?” Evie whispers. “It’s your line.” 

Right.

You take a deep breath, and you…

Announce the four children who you are allowed to save

Announce that you are taking all of the children. Every one of them.

Scream.

Things I learned about the sea three from Uma’s wicked book

Which I bought with my own money despite being in high school and very much not the target demographic

Uma:

- her love of sea ponies wasn’t just a fannon thing, she actually loves them and it’s adorable

- she’s had some pretty dark thoughts (for a kids movie franchise) while on the isle

- has saved Gil from drowning

-considers Harry the exception when it comes to proving of worth

Harry:

-His dad gave him both his original D2 jacket and hook

-his guyliner is very rarely actual eyeliner…it’s just soot he rubs on his eyes and occasionally old eyeliner from Auradon if he could get his hands on it

-very much values his father’s approval

-he got Uma a cracked crystal ball for her birthday

-once ate a ton of sour candy in one day and then couldn’t talk for a week

Gil:

- has a stepmother

-can sew and makes clothes for his brothers

- Ursula has beef with him

-didn’t know what grass was until he saw a photo of Auradon (that tracks, honestly)

i love lonnie! i think she's adorable. i really wish they'd cast an actress that is actually chinese considering that mulan is, you know... centered around saving china... but what can you expect from disney. i don't really read fanfic because i prefer descendants roleplay (i like that there's an air of surprise about it in not knowing what another writer's character will do next that is more exciting for me personally) but i love hearing fanfic ideas and sharing headcanons centered around them and everything. that idea is awesome and i think you should totally write it! i'm sure plenty of other people would read it as well <3

I talk a lot of crap about Descendants 3, but credit where it's due: They went off when they let Harry have a moment where he tried to get angry about the betrayal but just got really sad and resigned.
