And that is the first instance within this encounter that he had felt his blood run cold.
ââŠW-whatâŠ?â Lips dry up and his throat tightens, and he swears he feels his stomach drop in his gut as he stares with nothing short of fear. Himself, a high profile criminalâŠ? He knew that that wasnât the case; possibly referring to whatever alternate reigned in this universe. Though to know that they had gotten to that level so quickly is⊠disturbing.
In fact, it was disturbing him much more than it had any right to.
He shakes off his shock for now though so he could focus on the topic at hand (Focus, focus, you can grieve your failures later), and he forces a soft smile so he could try and appreciate the praise and comments instead. She was paying him a compliment after all; it would be rude to ignore such.
âA-ah, I wouldnât say Iâm amazing⊠I-Iâm just, the same as everyone else.â
And the bare minimum compared to the rest of them.
It had been amusing to her at first, the thought about him was fleeting, but still enough to make her struggle to keep her laughter under control. At this point it was the kind of laughter where nothing is particularly funny, but your brain keeps bringing the thought up over and over again, even though the situation might be inappropriate for such behavior.
âGosh, I apologize.â Though she sounded insincere due to the hiccups of laughter she was suppressing, Serena still attempted to make it known she was trying.Â
âSure sure, weâre all the same people when you look at it, but it all depends on two people, ya know? Like now that I know some super cool things about you, youâre super cool to me!â This was a little deep for her, but she did owe a bit of a serious-ness to him after her previous statements. âSomeone walking across the street over there could be amazing in someoneâs opinion, but to me theyâre just some random kid.â
