Does anyone have an update on where things are at with the writers strike? It's disappeared from my various feeds and algorithms.

The writers' strike is ongoing and the studios are still not returning to the negotiating table. Unfortunately a lot of the coverage has tapered off because we're on 50+ days of striking and it's not new anymore. The last strike in 2007 lasted 100 days, so don't be surprised if this strike lasts as long, or even longer.

The biggest recent news is that the Directors' Guild of America (DGA) voted to ratify their new agreement with the studios (article from June 23), and it appears likely that the actors' guild (SAG-AFTRA) will also take a deal instead of striking (article from June 24). Although this is disappointing news, it's completely expected. During previous strikes, the WGA held its own without other unions going on strike. Which is to say—don't be disheartened by the news that there won't be a triple strike. The WGA is strong enough!

Please keep vocally supporting the WGA online to keep the pressure on the studios & to keep WGA members motivated and encouraged! There are many ongoing donation drives, such as the Star Trek fan snack squad (Twitter account required to DM the organizer) and the Our Flag Means Death snack squad (opens the PayPal fundraising page—no Twitter required). There's a longer list of ongoing donation drives here.

The Entertainment Community Fund is also always accepting donations to support entertainment workers affected by the strike. Please boost and encourage your friends to keep supporting the strike. Hashtag #IStandWithTheWGA #DoTheWriteThing to boost the cause!

It's sad to see the DGA go the way they went. SAG-AFTRA are still, I think, waving in the wind.

But for the WGA, this strike is currently at (borrowing a metaphor) Helm's Deep. We have to take the stand that will allow us to—in a month or two, or three (argh), when shit starts to get serious at the AMPTP's end—roll up in front of Minas Tirith and let the other side hear the horns in the morning.

They think they're going to successfully wait us out. They are now slowly (however slowly) beginning to realize that we're waiting them out. Writers are USED to one form or another of the Great Hiatus. They're not. Their stockholders are going to get restive.

We can wait, though it hurts. It's what writers do.

The trial date of former US President Donald Trump is set for August. This is the trial for the nuclear docs he was storing in his shower in Florida, not the shady business practices he held in New York or the election fraud he is currently being investigated for in Georgia.

Hunter Biden, son of current US President Joe Biden, has plead guilty to tax crimes and the illegal possession of a firearm. Opponents of the administration are displeased because Hunter was not charged with what they feel is his most serious offense, being Joe Biden’s son.

Violence has once again broken out in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, as Israeli settlers and the IDF continue to encroach and commit atrocities further and further into Palestinian territory.

SCOTUS delivers a highly unexpected ruling on how the Biden Administration has handled immigration, allowing it to proceed with its current plans. This is one in a serious of surprisingly progressive decisions by the court. Given the far right leanings of the court, many suspect this is simply SCOTUS setting up to cushion the blow of their inevitable strike down of a student loan forgiveness program. A decision that will likely be just as unpopular as the strike down of Roe v Wade, given the millions of US citizens relying on said debt forgiveness.

Speaking of which, this week is the one year anniversary of SCOTUS striking down the court’s previous decision on Roe v Wade, robbing women across the US of the right to an abortion.

Anti Anxiety Tea

Camomile, blue pea, peppermint and roselle.

It smells and taste so good, like I’m bathing my insides. It feels like flowers bloom through the crown of my head and I’m an evergreen tree that birds nest in.

Caffeine represses anxiety, it however is addictive, so you need more to get the same effects.

When the anxiety returns, another hit is required, it makes you deny the existence of anxiety.

Some teas like oolong or green tea have mild levels of caffeine.

So they can be used as transitional caffeine to non caffeine drinks, to prevent debilitating withdrawal symptoms.

🍋•Solstice Sun Tea•🍊

-Made by me, myself, & I, Lady Raven

It’s the third and last day of my Litha celebration, a perfect time to post what I’ve created lately. For this particular post, it’s a delicious sun tea I made from scratch. Here we represent the fertility of nature with fresh fruits and herbs~

If you’d like to try it out, you’ll need:

-1 mason jar with lid 🫙

-Sun Water (much like Moon Water, this is water charged by the powerful rays of the Sun)

-fresh rosemary 🪴

-honey 🍯

-1 lemon/1 orange, or both like i did 🍋 🍊

-handful of frozen fruit (i used a mixed berry medley: raspberries, blueberry 🫐, and strawberry 🍓)

-fresh mint leaves (2)

-white wine (optional of course, recommended for those over 21/within legal drinking age)

-and finally, a warm window sill/safe area with lots of sun exposure 🌞

🫐 What I did was take my mason jar, hand washed it, cleansing the inside with a few wand-like waves of incense first before filling.

🍋I sliced my lemon and orange up, 2slices each into the jar, and drizzled 2 tablespoons of honey right on top. 🍯

☀️ Add 1 1/2 cups of that charged Sun Water, if you have any already prepared (if not, you can fill with regular water and we’ll add the Sun later😌). As a bonus, feel free to dangle your favorite store-bought tea bag inside the jar for added flavor preferences 🍵

🍓Right on top of that, I got some of my frozen fruit (containing the blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries) scooped a handful and placed it inside the mason jar, along with 2 (or 3) fresh mint leaves, and a small sprig of rosemary.

{Now, since not all witches are of drinking age, or involve their practices with the addition of wine/alcoholic beverages, this step is optional. ❤️

I added 2 shot glasses worth of white wine to my Solstice Sun Tea as tribute to diety, Dionysus, and mainly a representation of the light, carefree, summery feeling of the warmest part of the month, associated with large gatherings, good hospitality, abundance of wildlife and fruit, and plentiful feasts prepared for said Solstice. Please Witch Responsibly☀️😁🍷

☀️ For the final and most crucial ingredient: Those Sun rays! Screw that jar lid on snugly and find a safe spot to sit your mason jar while it soaks in the light. The warmth will slowly brew this concoction, hands free. Leave for 2-3 hours, for maximum potency. Bring it in to chill in the fridge, and Enjoy!

Self Love Sun Tea

This recipe has been adapted from The Herbal Academy.

Ingredients

sealable jar

filtered water

3 orange slices for happiness

1 tablespoon rose hips for self love

2 tablespoons hibiscus for harmony between mind, body, and soul

1 tablespoon raspberry leaf for healing

honey to taste for sweetening the relationship you have with yourself

Steps

Place all ingredients, except for the honey, into your jar.

Fill with water.

Seal your jar with a lid, cheesecloth and rubber band, or plastic wrap. Make sure it is sealed tightly.

Place in a sunny spot. Let it sit for 3 to 5 hours.

Add honey to taste.

Note: Keeps for 2 to 3 days in the fridge.

Conversion Chart

Below are two images from Pickle Jar Studios that show the ratio between tea and water. The first is tea bags to water (fluid ounces) and the second is loose leaf to water (fluid ounces). I did not follow them exactly in the making of my recipe, but they are good to keep in mind. They are especially helpful if you do not have a quart sized jar or wish to make more/less tea than that.

I have so much going on in my life that I’m excited about. I’ve been really selfish of my energy and selective of who I share it with. This is of course, my prerogative to do so.

I was at my moms house beginning of March - mid May. I was helping her out when she broke her foot but tbh even after that I didn’t want to go back because my roommates have some feud going on with the property manager where they weirdly think they’re the victim but there are a whole lot of text messages that would prove otherwise.

Anyway there was a roommate I connected with because I’m an emotionally slutty libra rising and while she did help me on a couple occasions when I needed a listening ear, in the end she ended up taking so much of my time and energy but when the time similarly came, there was no reciprocation and her energy over time just became an instant drain.

She confronted me yesterday saying I should’ve talked to her if I had problems with her. First: while I do not initiate conversation, I was amicable and engaging when conversation was initiated with me. Second, you are not entitled to my energy: my boundaries are my boundaries and i can assert them how I see fit. You overestimate how significant you are to me because I do not care enough about you to hate you. I’m just vibing, living my best life and also, I was literally gone for three months.

It would be easy for me to tell you what a leach you are, tell you how parasitic your energy is but In all my grace, I consider you volunteer work and I’ll collect my good juju accordingly. I mean idk maybe that’s the reason all y’all were evicted and I wasn’t. 👀🤡
